Also looks like for half of running time on your batter session your wifi was off completely? That must help to too.

Wifi was off, but cellular data (3G) was on, and that uses more power especially if the signal is weak. Some data connection or the other is always on, 24x7, since I have Gmail on auto sync and I don't want to miss any email.

Besides, if you noticed, during the period the wifi was on, my normal cell signal was very weak (1-2 bars only)... Stinktel provides rubbish coverage in my apartment. Their LTE signal and coverage is so bad that I don't even use it despite my plan being LTE... always on 3G throughout the day and on wifi through the evening and night.

What I notice on your screenshots though compared to my battery "History details". Your "Awake" & "Screen on" is much less blue/ used than mine. And I mean waaaayyy less. Seems like you really barely used the phone for much at all but standby.

What does "Awake" mean exactly?

True, yesterday I didn't use the phone much.
Check one of my previous posts for battery stats from my normal usage.

If your phone is awake all the time, some app must be causing a wakelock.
Download the wakelock detector app, it will tell you what process is causing the wakelocks.

Ok i have Google Search and Yahoo weather app on top of the list in the Wakelock app. Wonder what exactly they are doing since I barely use Search and Yahoo weather app isn't running and I shut off all its notifications.

I now have shut off so many location services of apps that don't need to access it. Hope it helps. And uninstalled Yahoo Weather app. Those biatches seem to be running something in background even after shutting off its location services/ notifications.

I suspected the KK launcher is draining battery a bit more too but others said that these launchers don't drain battery really. I have now uninstalled it to see if I notice an improvement.

Its your apps not the launcher. From the sounds of it you are using a lot of apps that require to be always on such as voip calling services and such.

Basically go back to factory.

Then only 1 by 1 add a programme and see what it's effect is on your battery life.

That's the only way we will be able to find out what is causing the drain.

The reality is - it's probably a combination of all the apps you have installed.

Also do a battery pull from time to time. I had my spigen case on for a couple of weeks and forgot I had a removable battery. Removing a suspect app and a battery pull stopped my rapid battery drainage.

Thanks for info. I have disabled push/ notifications on the Voip app too now. I'm sure things should improve a bit more. The battery life wasn't bad before but it sounded like some of you guys were getting better results.

Yeah I get stellar battery life tbh.

Literally on a day when I had 1 hr 28 mins screen on time and about 18hours on the clock off battery - i was still sat at 82% battery........

One thing i have done with mine and I haven't noticed anything detrimental to performance is 'enabled' power saving. But only with CPU (deselected the other two options). I still have screen brightness on Auto +5 and haptic feedback enabled.

My phone feels exactly as fast as it was previously without CPU power saving, and games still run as smooth as ever, so not sure what it's stepping down but it has certainly extended the already great battery life I was having.

I think as long as your note lasts you at least 1 day of use your battery life is great..my screen time can be from 3 hours to over 7 all depends how much I'm using it and how much I'm using it at home compared to away

but I get over 1 day total without fail. Which is all you can ask for.

You get many notifications? I know I get loads from twitter on a daily basics which can affect overall battery life.

Yeah but mostly email notifications. I'm a Microsoft MVP - so I get an absolute TON of emails pushed to me all day long. I have set up twitter / Facebook to only notify me when someone mentions me directly.

In other new's my Smart Case should FINALY arrive today (or tomorrow)....

What case is that?

Sounds to me like some of you guys use it more as a phone actually hehe. In my case it has almost become a computer replacement so I have a lot more screen on time.

Same as yours. The official S-View black wireless charging flip case.

Just arrived. I like it so far. Though why the camera only shoots in those tiny little squares when activated via the S-View window is a very Bizarre thing.

Yeah I use mine mostly for texting, phone calls, checking news feeds, and keeping my day planned and making notes with scrapbook and s-planner.

"Awake" is the same as "Usage" in the iphone world

notice how its different than "Screen on"

iPhone users are unable to make the distinction

Hows the reception on this vs an iPhone 5S?

Thinking of making the switch

I'm getting a 5s delivered today on the same network as my Note 3 (Verizon) so I'll definitely be running some side by side comparisons. As for my iPhone 5 on Sprint network, It's horrible compared to the Note. But I think that's more attributed to Sprint's network than anything else

Cool

Some reason I don't get the squares.. Do love being able to answer calls with it closed

First real world problem for me today. Either during or after a call, when I take the phone off my ear, the screen remains blank. It's like the proximity sensor stopped working and it takes for me to either press the home or power button to get the screen to turn back on. I've seen others post similar complaints on the web but no one has been able to identify the main cause. Some say it's dirt collecting under the screen that's blocking the sensor and suggest you blow real hard on the ear piece but I'm not about to go through some sort of haphazard workaround. I shouldn't have to.

Has anyone else experienced this same issue?

Woot, my battery is doing much better after shutting off twitter notifications ;)

you get many then? I must get at least 50 a day..but to be honest if i was you don't switch off the features if you use them.

if you don't use

air view
air command
smart scroll

switch them off when you aren't using them.

have you bought the spare battery kit? if i was you I would..one of the best ever things i've bought.

I just did this last month and Im also on Verizon. I'll save you a lot of time. The only thing the 5s wins at is the radio. I seemed to get LTE in places the Note 3 would not or would get randomly, and a slight edge in the camera department. Thats it. Sold my 5s and kept the Note 3.

Oh yeah baby, my battery is rocking again after disabling the Voip & twitter notifications. Both i don't really need.
