is it worth getting the note 3 now or is the note 4 on its way soon
i can get one for a good price here now unlocked and off contract but i read about some small problems here and there and is there going to be a 4.4 android update to it ?:confused:

Note 4? Note 3 was released only 4 months ago!

SGS5 is due to release in March. That's not the Note series though. That'll likely be released around October/November next year.

The new features you will see in S5 will come in Note 4 so looking forward to that..

No interesting if the difference is noticeable

What I'd love to see to Touchwiz & 4.4. (Most are common in EVERY other launcher)

1) Application Dock Icon to be moveable

2) Default icon sizes adjustable

3) Wasted space above the dock with page markers reduced

4) Bluetooth Audio improvements - often can be tiny stutters

5) Messages app needs a radical overhaul. At this stage it's too much line a legacy of touchwiz's past.

6) Dialer / Contacts / Favorites navigable via swipe rather than reliance on tabs all the time

7) Fix Scrapbook YouTube video scrapping. It only ever worked with the YouTube app that first came with the device. Every upgrade of the YouTube app has broken it and Samsung have not seen fit to correct it.

8) Keyboard theme - allow us to decide whether we want the lighter or darker keyboard rather than change it with an update and not offer any way to roll back.

Question please. I cleared the memory and it shows 830mb out of 2.38gig. Isn't that low? I only have chrome opened and I have no live wallpapers or any widgets yet.

Thanks for your input in advance.

When I close everything and clear memory I usually get down to 0.95 - 1.25GB of 2.38GB

I have all the smart features like air gesture and smart motion turned off - other than pen input ones.

What I have noticed however is that if you go into APPLICATION MANAGER in settings after you have cleared memory and ended tasks, go into RUNNING tab and you will be surprised to see how many apps are still cached.

I just did mine and its got the playstation app, Facebook app, tune in radio, etc... all running and yet I haven't launched them on my phone today at all and some like watchon I don't use at all, and I have just ended tasks and cleared memory ....

So clearly there is still some cache of apps going on regardless.

When running Cyanogenmod, stock Android reports the Note 3 as having 2.68GB of RAM.

Really? I guess that shows that Cyanogenmod even out the gate is 1/2 as hungry as Touchwiz.

I didn't realise Cyanogenmod had been released for it. How does it work on it ??

Galaxy Note 3

Only reason why I don't have a ROM on my N3 yet is because of Knox. I'm on the JUMP program and don't really want to deal with a voided manufacturer warranty. I still mod my N2 though when I feel that itch.

I recommend any Jedi ROMS. That or anything from Wicked or Pacman.

Not sure why until now some of you are still obsessed with free ram.

My note 3 free ram stabilized at 250 to 350mb. There is no slow down or forced close at this level. Opening app is as snappy as when the phone just rebooted. And my phone uptime is nearly 2 months.

I just don't bother looki at free ram now. It is just meaningless.

Still no news on 4.4 :(

I posted this in another thread but the lockscreen for Touchwiz 4.4 got leaked so its coming soon. (Finally no more green battery status bar icon!)

Still no news on 4.4 :(

If I had a Note 3 I wouldn't care at all for 4.4.

It wont bring any new important feature to the device...

What does it offer? Immersive mode (not useful on the Note), launcher option in preferences (already can do that other way), printing (how many people will use that?)... Nothing more I think. The GEL wont arrive on the Note 3.

Your forgetting the most important thing.... the lovely warm glow looking in about device and seeing an extra little digit added to 4.3 :p

So depending on my tax return(which I see as birthday money:) ), I might take advantage of T-Mobile's ETF buyout. The one feature I wish I could use more on my HTC One is the camera and I really don't like it...Tapping to focus gets annoying and I get more bad photos than good. And I can't zoom at all. Audio is great, but there are moments where I feel that I would've taken a picture if the quality were good. And I like to take pictures.

Does anyone have the T-Mobile version of the Note 3? How do you like it?

I currently pay $91 after taxes and fees on verizon for 1gb data and unlimited talk and text...would like to be paying less since I am a graduate student and on a tight budget. I would be putting however I get on the phone trade in(which is around 122 now, better than the 50 I paid for) plus some extra so I wouldn't be paying the $29.50 a month for 24 months T-Mobile has if you put zero down. I would also opt for the $60 plan which is unlimited talk and text and 2.5 gb of data.

Wi-fi calling is a great feature that would complement lack of service in some buildings. Campus is filled everywhere with Wi-Fi and are trying to get signal repeaters since all of our buildings are a unique sandstone/granite mix they call "Hokie Stone"
