It is a phablet obviously but how many live with it as a tablet versus something else? Well since I got it, me as far as android is concerned. :D

I have found myself grabbing my iPad less and less since using the Note 3 as my primary device. Its big enough for comfortable web surfing, perfect size for eBook reading and the stylus (and Papyrus) are a good combo for note taking. Even for watching video in bed...its more than enough.

I do miss the richer app library of the iPad, however. But my iPad is now primarily just there for some good digital board games.

^^ This. I have hardly picked up my iPad after getting the Note 3.

I am hanging for a bigger phone screen, have a 5S. Wish i could get a note 3 to try out like you can with Apple, was going to get a retina mini for books but this might do both for $300 more. Have a iPad air too.
I have checked out the apps i use and they are on google store, i have all my contacts backed up in my gmail google account. How would i get photos into iPhoto on my MBPr?
Is google maps for note same as google maps i use on my MBPr? They would be a great GPS right?

When is the new model expected to be released and how does thia compare to the LG 8.3 Pad? Newegg is selling the LG 8.3 Pad for $249 and seems to have better specs as it comes with a Snap Dragon 600

Did you mean this to be in this thread ? ;) I suspect not.

But for fun... :D

Note 3 - October/November Note 4 - similar time frame ?
LG Gpad = Tablet Note 3 = phone
LG Gpad = Snapdragon 600 Note 3 = Snapdragon 800
LG Gpad = $249 Note 3 = $600+ off contract

This is exactly what I am finding, I'm leaving my windows tablet at home more often, actually always. I do miss the robustness of OneNote, and also the larger 10.1" screen, but I find I can make do in most situations with the Note. Best of all it fits in my pocket.

I really should have quantified as I really don't do any productivity on the Note 3 whatsoever. So I can see whereby folks may need to use a different device, for me though it is just consumption and the portability is great.

I'll check into new tablets at retail stores when they become available but I don't feel I'll be moved to purchase any of them to tell the truth. I'm itchy for something with Windows 8.1 but going for portability isn't going to cut it with that OS.

I hear ya. What I found over the years is carrying around a tablet is a huge pain in the butt, unless you know you need it for an extended period like staying at a hotel or a long car ride as a passenger. I just got sick of always grabbing my man bag with my tablet in it. The note 3 isn't even my phone, it's my "tablet", I use an iphone primarily but tether the Note 3 to it for consumption and note taking. It's really nice to stuff it into a pocket and not worry about carrying a tablet or a man bag.

Can i add apps to the multi window without rooting the device? I want the Huffington post and Flipboard added along with perhaps the outlook app.

Not that I'm aware of. Biggest flaw with multi window is that not every app is compatible. I hope Google adds this functionality to android as that will mean more compatible apps.

Yeah, hopefully, the agreement? they made will improve this feature. If they really worked together, think of the possibilities.

Now that i think about it, wouldnt this require some restructering as to how apps are made in general for compatibility reasons..

Not sure, I know android does a good job of scaling on different resolutions, maybe they can tap into this feature to resize the apps within a window?

Anyone know what the freakin hold up with KitKat for the AT&T variant is?!?!? I think I read that the Sprint note 3 got KitKat, kind of sad that Sprint gets it before ATT.

I found that utterly ridiculous. Then again Sprint is changing (albeit slowly) thanks to SoftBank.

Don't I'm still waiting too..... :(

I tweeted EE here in the UK asking I'd there was any sign of the 4.4 update but sadly I got this response.

Just wait until the official unbranded UK firmware comes out (should be a couple of days) and flash it manually. At least then you know your phone is running the latest firmware, as Samsung intended (and not with EE messing around with it!) ;)

I just picked up an AT&T Note 3 last night. I traded my Nexus 5 for one straight up. Think I got a great deal. This phone is a beast. Cannot believe how fast it is……It is a bit large but that just means I won't be using my iPad as much.
Can't wait for 4.4 to drop.

I just got this update this morning. It looks like the the fixes and baseband updates before the 4.4 rollout...

Cool, thanks for the link. Hopefully KitKat soon!! I've been holding out and trying to keep the phone stock for now.

edit: Sigh, "no update is available for your device at this time. Please try again in 24 hours." Jeez, I remember going thru this crap with my Note 2.

Got my update from Sprint on Monday. Nothing really stands out. I saw a few things that were different, but nothing mind blowing.
