Now on 4.4..?not seeing much difference but I am on nova

Lol, yeah that's the thing when your running a manufacturers version of android - the changes are much less apparent.

The difference between JB & KK were much greater on GE devices due to ART and of course the Google Experience Launcher - as well as refinements to stock dialer and such.

All of those have zero relevance on Samsung's 4.4.2 Touchwiz as you don't get ART support and only have access to GE launcher by side loading it - and likewise stock app improvements have no relevance as they are not on the S4 / Note 3.

The next time you'll notice a difference is if samsung port the new touchwiz over to the Note 3 & S4 - otherwise it's pretty much going to be more of the same no matter what updates you get going forward.

That's why I've been saying since weeks ago that I didn't understand why people had that urge for 4.4 on their Note 3. It's just not an interesting update at all.

I have noticed though battery life is better on 4.4...at least on first impressions in standby mode. I lost just 5% overnight in 7 hours with plenty of twitter, ESPN notifications when normally I lose about 8-9% in that time. Will see how it is.

My main reason is so I can sideload the Google launcher. I don't believe it runs on non kitkat builds.

Yep it does, well you can get an apt that runs on just about any device. The only real difference would be that you don't get the translucent notification/status bar if your on anything less than 4.4

Ahh, I didn't know that. I tried sideloading an APK and I got an error and some users said it was because I was still on 4.3. I'll have to give it another shot or read more closely over at the XDA forums as I must have the wrong link/APK file.

Yeah I had to try a couple before I got one that would install. :)

liking the battery life on this since the update

3 hours screen time
19 hours total

44% left..better than normal and this has been on 3G+

It also doesn't perform that well on non kitkat phones. On both my note 3 and g2 it lags horribly when swiping to the google now screen, after 4.4 on the g2 it's running much smoother. Also, the speak now feature is working, it wasn't on 4.3.

Worked perfectly on my note 3, no lag, and ok Google worked like a charm.

I noticed the opposite on my AT&T N3 with 4.3. Touchwiz lagged at times, but the Google launcher is silky smooth, it's so smooth it's kind of weird after using touchwiz.

Hmmm, then maybe they updated it because when I used it, it really lagged when swiping to google now. This was last November, and my wife has been using stock since then.

The G2 though is my backup phone and i use every now and then and the Google Now launcher was laggy until I updated it to 4.4 about 2 weeks ago.

I remember Nova ran great on the Note, I was using that as my launcher.

Hey looking to buy a note 3, currently the only ones i see people selling here (not overpriced) are the snapdragon version, does it really makes a difference ? i mean in regards of battery and performance ?

thanks !
