I wish people would stop with the Samsung vs. Apple hate.

Has anyone seen where Apple Pay came from? It was a slightly more thought out version of Google Wallet.

Bigger screens? Apple hesitated to do that until Tim Cook finally caved. The 6S and 6S + are Apple's version of the Galaxy Note series, just without the stylus.

See how the power button is on the side of the iPhone now? It was like that on the Galaxy series before Apple decided to move it from the top to the side.

Look at the back of the iPhone 6 series phones... They look like an uglier back of the HTC One series.

I'm sure Apple will also copy Nexus with the USB-C port too.

Just need the iPhone 7 to improve the display + bezels to cross off the last thing anyone could possibly complain about in terms of hardware.

The back of the phone is uglier than puke.

This has got to be /s right?

I felt like the iPhone 6 was Apple holding back because they knew big screens would make the phone sell, and the iPhone 6S was them adding a ton of new technology.

Just need the iPhone 7 to improve the display + bezels to cross off the last thing anyone could possibly complain about in terms of hardware.
Not quite.
They need an adapter that will read a compact flash card and import RAW files. Then all the photographers will finally shut up and shoot.

So you're saying Microsoft named it Xbox 360 because of PS3 ?? That doesn't make any sense at all and never heard about it before. Your theory doesn't hold up because if it did then we should have an Xbox 4,5,6, 7 etc and not an Xbox ONE.
Not sure if this has been posted yet but there is a bookhttp://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Uncloaked-Microsofts-Next-Generation/dp/0977784215/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1450115092&sr=1-2 that goes into how the XBox 360 was designed and marketed. I believe it even talked about the RROD debacle.

EDIT original URL was for the first xbox, this is the correct URL for the second one.

No, Apple Pay was not just a more thought out version of Google Wallet. Pre 2014, in the Android vs iPhone debate, no one said 'well, I can use my Android phone to pay for things, you can't do that on iPhone'.

Tim Cook said 'no one has managed to do a mobile wallet' - meaning Google, PayPal etc had all tried and they hadn't taken off - he was right.

If Google Wallet was on the mark and Apple Pay was a copy, why did Google release Android Pay. Why did Samsung release Samsung Pay? They should have just rolled ads saying 'this is old news!'

If you look at the iPhone's key features, they're added to Samsung phones a year later. It's damn hard to say the same thing about Samsung features the other way round. Was there a 5.5'' iPhone in 2012? Was there an iPhone with a curved display in 2015? No.

Its all moot anyway as the first phone to make a leap in screen size was the iPhone. Apple made a big screen, their competitors made one bigger. (Steve Jobs in 2007: 'we got rid of all those buttons and just made a giant screen'.) Like with the Retina Display: Apple made a high res display, its competitors made even higher resolutions.

As for the idea of Apple copying the Nexus: the big deal about the Nexus phones this year was using Android Pay coupled with a fingerprint scanner. Old news in iPhone land.

No matter what, it all seems to be "working" for Samsung... their revenues show it!

Really... they are getting their lunch eaten by so many other Android phone makers... seems like it's time to change the focus.

I think it was a mistake for Apple to introduce 3D touch with the Apple watch a year ago. Everyone knew that Apple would be incorporating that into iPhone. Unfortunately, that gave Samsung one year heads up to start working on their own 3d touch. Had Apple introduced 3D touch with iPhone 6S, Samsung wouldn't have had the time to put that into galaxy S7.

Everytime I walk past my local Samsung shop it's empty. They've always got more staff than customers. In contrast the Apple Store around the corner is always packed. I know it's only one city but surely Samsung need to look in a different direction if they're ever going to compete with the iPhone.

Wow! I am shocked that Samsung would do this!

It's so funny because when Apple introduced Force Touch, we all said Samsung will come out with it soon after. They have no shame in their game. Haha!

Apple maps is a bit different - as I remember it Apple had their hand forced a bit by the timing of their Maps app contract with Google expiring and ultimately decided it was better to release their own version early and fix it as they went along than have to sign a new deal with Google and lose the new turn by turn functionality, etc as Google seemed reluctant to bring it to their version of the Maps app.

I agree, as much as people poo-poo apple maps, on IOS4 I has NO TURN-BY-TURN navigation at all, they all cost money.

Along comes IOS5, now, all of a sudden I have 2 free turn by turn apps, the built in Apple maps (okay) and the new Google Maps (good), which suddenly became available (go figure).

Apple maps was a push to get this feature finally on the Iphone, Google WOULDN'T bring this feature so apple had two options; Go without, or do it themselves. AND by doing it themselves, they forced google's hand to finnaly bring their maps app to the Iphone.

So is Samsung standing still by implementing a 6S feature in their next phone?
Let me give this a go:

Given: Samsung S6 is more advanced than Apple 6S
Given: Apple has been standing still

If Samsung's next generation device copies from Apple's last generation device then Samsung is going backwards.

I may have messed up something in there. I'm a few credits short of a degree in Droid Logic and still get confused by the multi-negative constructs and circular reasoning structures...

(1) Tim Cook's mobile wallet hasn't taken off either. Sure you have the banks signed on for the service, but where are the merchants and additional countries?

(2) So in other words you're making my point for me, that Samsung doesn't copy EVERYTHING.

I own a 6s and 6s Plus and I haven't used 3D Touch once. I can't think of a single reason to use it.

Signed up for Apple Pay with my bank and haven't used that either. It's just easier to get my debit card out and use contactless payment. Half the time I have to stick the card in the reader anyway because it's not always obvious which shops have contactless tills and which don't.

I wish Apple would focus on more useful technologies like wireless charging which I would use.

I wonder if Apple would ever consider allowing their phones to dual boot (ala Bootcamp)? With Apple owning the propriety on iOS - if they allowed Android to somehow co-exsist on their phones it would create a device that no other company could copy. A bit like the large amount of people who have a mac laptop instead of a PC - so they can boot into either windows or OS X.

I actually see it working better on a rooted Android device vs my iPhone 6s. All it would take is one root application created by an enthusiast to make the feature active for all icons. You could fine tune each action for whichever icon or location on the display without waiting for the developers.
I also own a Nexus 6 and I could see it being used with the screen off. You could bring up a context selection to turn on the phone, turn on the flashlight or take a picture. You could even create regions on the display so if you force press the upper right it would control the flashlight with the display off. I'm 110% confident that it would be better on Android. On my 6S I forget that it's there.

I use an Android phone and I have zero interest in 3d touch. Why copy a feature that's not even necessary on Android. Just stick to useful features like fast charging, wireless charging, etc which the iphone doesn't have.
