I bought an S8+, tried it out for 2 days and decided it wasn't for me. It went back to the store for a refund and I'm happy with my iPhone again. :)
In fairness though you need more than a few days to get used to IOS to Android. a few weeks is needed really.

Unfortunately for you, Samsung doesn't just sell flashships. Hence, my point. You can argue till you're blue in the face. Doesn't change that fact.
I am not arguing the simple one line fact, let's rest that. And let's not resort to pedantic personal attacks.
Do you have any better argument to put forth or is that the best you could do, because it clearly didn't counter any of the statements I made?

I'm someone with 3 degrees of every sort B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. I was not thinking economics with my assertion. I was only giving you my opinion.
I have similar degrees too, but I didn't see the need to bring that up or where I work to bolster my argument in this seemingly simple discussion. I have to ask again, do you have any better argument to put forth or is that the best you could do, because it clearly didn't counter any of the statements I made?

Personal attack? LOL! I'll leave it at this.

Non related to anything specific, but according to my brief search and in-store experience. The S8 is not sold out. Does Samsung just produce a lot more phones (this time, always?), or was the initiative behind pre-order to get the VR stuff for free?

Unlike Apple, Samsung has pretty much full control of their supply chain since they manufacture all their core components from SoC to OLED display, flash memory, DRAM, baseband radio and even have their own fabs. They also stated previously that they doubled initial production to avoid supply issues.

They don't sell a ton of these devices aside from the buy one get one deals. There isn't much demand so it's very controllable on their end.

Yep that's their business, they manufacture everything Except for the batteries that got them in trouble with the note 7.

Its amazing how note 7 hasn't affected S8 sales. That's the Samsung juggernaut. This will likely be the only industry leading profitable smartphone on Android

@DNichter : Just switched from AT&T to Tmobile. I really need to replace my aging 3 x Note 4's real soon. Where can I find such generous BOGO deals (and which doesn't require me to buy tons of other stuff I don't need) that you keep talking about?

You mean like Handoff?
Not exactly, though I see where you're coming from. :) Samsung DeX doesn't require another device to "Handoff" to -- the phone can serve as your desktop machine as well as your cell phone. You dock the phone and BAM -- you have a desktop with keyboard and mouse support. Really cool feature if you ask me. I'd totally use this at work to watch Netflix since is blocked by our content filter.

It is probably because sales of S8 will be lower than iPhone, so it is not that difficult to meet the demand.

I am serious some user was happy that he was able to run a server on an android phone but he couldn't do it on iOS and this is the reason why he didn't buy iPhone.

The Samsungs use OLED screens and have no shortage, yet rumors are circulating that iPhone 8 will be in very short supply because of the shortage of OLED screens. Seems like an excuse, not an actual reason.

Or the demand at launch weekend is expected to outstrip supply, which is an actual reason.

Yes, there is only a limited supply. This has always been the case: OLED shortage forces HTC to switch display (Wired, 2010). Samsung is the largest consumer and manufacturer (~ 95% marketshare) of AMOLED technology. AMOLED is still fairly difficult to manufacture and Samsung will probably remain #1 buyer/seller for some foreseeable time.

While you lug around all that paraphernalia an S8 user will be carrying around a dock and a phone. The dock shouldn't even matter because Apple users are already used to dongles

And I suppose the monitor, keyboard and mouse are going to magically transport themselves.

In what bizarro world is it better to be confined to a few select locations than simply bringing an ultrabook around with you and being able to use it anywhere and everywhere?

Dex is the very definition of gimmick. We are going to look back a few moths in the future and laugh that anyone actually thought it would ever be a thing.

Yet Samsung had no shortage of OLED displays for their phones. Actually not too hard to make anymore. 3 years ago, yes, but not today. 3 years ago when LG entered the OLED market they had less than a 50% yield rate, now it's over 80%. Perhaps Apple should be looking at LG to be their supplier.

Sure, I'm guessing that Samsung is going to plan their capacity based on their own internal demand, not on petulant external customers like Apple.

Not sure where you are getting that mis-info? Perhaps you are confusing it with the OLED TV/monitor market which is actually dominated by LGD? Just think, why else would LG still use LCD on their smartphones when up to 80% of Samsung smartphones, all high and mid ends, use AMOLED.

"Camera reviews suggest the low-light camera performance of the S8 beats the performance of the iPhone 7 Plus, but that's comparing a new device to a previous-generation device."

Um, no, MacRumors, the iPhone 7 Plus is Apple's current generation device and not its previous generation. Nice try though.

No it's just marketing tactics to create hype around the "star" product. Last year it was the Jet Black iPhones and this year it's the OLED iphone. Conveniently there will be no shortages of the "S" phones this time around Samsung has been making OLEDs for years. No shortages on their end

The tech is ahead of its time like Microsoft Continuum. However that's the next way ahead for smartphones as Apple and android manufacturers run out of ideas for what to do with next gen smartphones

I find 3DT to be more of a gimmick than Dex

Or alternatively the demand will exceed the supply.

3dt is very useful as it tremendously speeds interaction with the device. Dex is a gimmick and my sp4 out in the desert with cellular service will work flawlessly while dex is doa.
