Sounds like more of a mess then. Bloatware, missing google features, hardly any updates. A shame the unwashed masses don't know any better but it's the cheaper option for them.

I don't get it.you guys complain about Samsung not using its own software to run on there hardware that was optimized in-house by Samsung but complain when they do?

you do know Google just put out it's like 5th messaging app? they have Google +,Google Hangouts,Google messenger and now the new Google allow.its a freaking joke and a mess.

Samsung is doing exactly what people want.there own software.

Amazon and windows also have there own assistant's

Samsung's new bixby will be the main and only assistant on the phone.it will remove a voice and the old Google now that nobody uses and is outdated and replaced by the new Google Assistant that is only on the pixel.

The latest Galaxy phone is always significantly cheaper than the newest iPhone by the time the iPhone comes out. This really doesn't affect anything as most people don't care about price when buying the latest iPhone. The carriers will still make it "$0 down" and that's all that matters to most consumers.

iPhone 8 hasn't been priced so the headline is ridiculous at best. It's also false. The only pricing information for the 8 is based on hearsay from people that are not directly involved in setting Apple prices.

the new Google Assistant only works on Google phones.goigle has not let there new assistant work on other Android's.
That used to be true. It's not any longer.

And Galaxy S7 owners still can't get the latest Android version over a year after its introduction.
Apple's 2-3 year old products get the latest OS as soon as it comes out.

There's value there sorely neglected from the price calculation
That's wrong. My S7 is running Nougat.

That's wrong. My S7 is running Nougat.

I have a gs7 on nougat and it's not in my play store.the only way I can install it is if I jailbreak and root my phone and do it that way and also lose Samsung pay and warrenty doing that.

That's wrong. My S7 is running Nougat.
And the rest 99.99999%? It's a fact of life that Samsung can't even release them at the same after 10 or 12 months. First they release for one or two US carriers then somewhere else, then somewhere else and in the end international unlocked version.

This is garbage.

Another bloatware special. Doesn't really matter what hardware sammy has. Bixby, the additional bloatware assistant you didn't want..lol Memo to samsung, android has this built in..

What a joke. I'm sure the idiots will line up for this that don't know any better.

rofl i know right? all these people that disagree with ur opinion are all idiots!! lol!!!!!

You represent everything wrong with Apple's fan base, by the way.

True, no guarantee at all. A 128 Gb iPhone for instance costs me (the Netherlands) a whopping 879 (tax included), which equals $945. In the US, I could have payed 749, ex taxes. Including NYC taxes (for instance), would bring it up to $815. Still over a $100 difference...
Right, the difference comes to several things people usually don't notice or take into account:

1. Currency changes relative value frequently so companies tend to put in a hedge to avoid re-pricing often
2. Local government regulations such as an extended return period and warranty period that may be different
3. Number of units that can be sold within a region plus any issues in the distribution of the product within the region
4. What the market will bear in price
5. Risk and competition

This is an ignorant question, but is it possible to restore one of these phones with stock Android?

And I think it will be a better phone as well. 5.1 inch usable screen is a no for me on iPhone 8. 6.2 inch S8 plus is ideal

not exactly undercutting it because the price went up vs the galaxy s7 and s7 edge.

both phones are upping there prices as they get more premium.

Agreed. They lost billion of dollars due to "flaming" phone so they're making it up by increasing the price...

Samsung doesn't control when carriers release OS updates. No Android OEM does. Now, that still doesn't change the fact that my answer to medazinol's quote is true. The claim was the S7 owners can't get the latest OS. Not true.

And both are better than the Pixel's color names. Quite Black, Really Blue, Very Silver. Much Doge-like.
Yeah, those are quite. really. very. much. on the nose.:p:D

Strictly speaking of the design, it looks like the phone of the future we've all envisioned for years. And I like it, a lot.

It looks like... a screen. Period.
Sure, it's cool a phone can almost be one undisturbed surface, but the fact that they had to place the finger print sensor on the back to achieve this isn't quite futuristic, it's a step backwards for the sake of being the first one to the market.

That's coming though they just didn't have time to get it done

Still iris scanning and facial recognition will be available

I think these phone makers need to be careful with pricing. The days of subsidized phone pricing are gone so the actual cost of the phone matters now. Sure there are payment plans, but hopefully consumers are smart enough to realize how that works out. Pretty much everyone has a smartphone now so these companies are trying to get us to replace a phone that likely works just fine. How many people are going to be willing to spend $1,000+ every year on a smartphone?

European prices are normally quoted with tax.
Knock roughly 20% off for US pricing.

I make that $700 pre tax for the S8

Food for thought.

looks like they are phasing out the fingerprint scanner and pushing Iris and facial scanning.

there are leaks showing you can use Iris scanning for card payments so looksike Samsung is trying to slowly ditch the sensor

Make it Pixel'ly and then we are talking...
The only thing holding me back from Androids (after having went through various of them) are the lack of timely software updates...

Looks like a great phone in terms of screen to body ratio and overall design.

However, I was surprised at their ad that rewrites history dramatically. Flip phones from the 90s, the "no buttons and a giant screen" is put as "2000s". They gloss over the iPhone launch and then imply this bezel reduction is a massive change in phones lead by them.

It's impressive from an engineering POV, and I want Apple to reduce the iPhone bezels, but it isn't like the leap made in 2007, and it's not like LG and others haven't also released similar phones.

Samsung do know how to design great looking hardware. I've been loving the design of Samsung phones for a while now and they are much better than anything Apple has come out with in the last few years.

If I wasn't so invested in the Apple ecosystem I'd definitely be buying this. Hopefully this years iPhone takes on a similar look.

I thought most rumours peg the new iPhone to have a higher price then the current ones ? I am inclined to believe them cause Apple has tremendous courage in these matters as they have clearly demonstrated with their MBPs. Time will tell....
