okay, so november then. You are then probally looking at february/march 2018 before most people can get a hold of the new OLED iPhone. By that time Samsung will almost reveal the new Samsung S9 ;)

3rd year of the 6 design has put them on the back foot. If apple is going to go down the 3 year design cycles, the competition will take advantage. Lets be honest the CPU/GPU is so good these days, its the design that is bragging rights. Many people want the coolest looking device. And that looks like the S8 at the moment, unless you have OS loyalty in which case it does not matter.

The 8+ is exactly why Apple's iCloud ecosystem is so important for lock in.

I think that's the only thing Apple has going for it self these days. However, that lock in and limited integration with other services is driving me away from Apple.

I like Google play, and have a subscription to their music service. Starting to thing maybe this beautiful 8 is the way to go, and ditch Apple. Siri & Apple Maps, are both subpar compared to Google's options, and I am struggling to think what I like about the iphone.

I now exclusively use Google maps, especially now that i can share my location cross platform. And whatsapp has become my main messaging tool since it is cross Platform too. I don't care for stickers or fireworks that only work with 1/3 of my family and friends.

And before people bring up how Steve loved the lock it, Steve actually made top notch products, not like Tim the Failure Cook.

I hope you are all aware of the fact as soon as the (magical OLED) version of the new iPhone later this year goes on pre order, you have to order within 0,04 seconds after the pre order starts...it will be backordered after 0,04 seconds for maybe like 3 or 4 months.

Look at the iPhone 7 (and this was just 3 year same design iPhone) and AirPods. iPhone 7 had shipping time sometimes of 6 to 8 weeks, after pre orders (and even weeks after these pre orders). AirPods still shipping times of more then 2 or 3 months.

Can you imagine what a total rehaul of a new OLED screen iPhone will do, I really think you are looking at 3 or 4 months before you can get hold of this new 2018 OLED iPhone. This iPhone will be so popular, it will be like winning a lottery if you can get one.

I know the earlier rumors were predicting that production would be slated to start in June versus July as they have in the past. I still don't think that's going to be able to combat the pre-orders for this iPhone, which you are correct, it will be record-setting. That said, I will still preorder the iPhone 8 and use my iPhone 7 Plus as I have been until I actually receive one.

Best phone ever S8 best feature. Yes touch id at rear but is that the end of world? Huh

Unlike apple fans. Same design since launch and still in love xDDD

Looks like a decent phone, but I have an LG G6 and a Pixel. No room for another phone, unless the Iphone 8 is too good to resist, but I am not holding my breath.

boom!

Locating the Touch Id near the bottom of the device would avoid layout confusion with the camera lens. That seems an obvious shortcoming for the Samsung product.

I suspect that smart users will learn to slide their finger over from the side to the sensor, instead of just randomly dropping their finger in the middle, thus avoiding the camera lens.

AppleInsider is reporting that the S8+'s battery is very similar to the Note 7's.

In fact it's exactly the same in capacity.

What matters is if the battery manufacturers have gotten their quality right this time.

Yes, beware of AI articles.

So while Apple delivers a useless tech like 3D Touch, Samsung offers a larger display. I'm happy someone in tech is innovating better man-machine interfaces.

I like Force Touch, use it a lot, and it is great technology. Making edge to edge display by moving touch ID to the rear is a shortcut, not well thought out design.
[doublepost=1492591236][/doublepost]Would be great if some can review the display accuracy, heard the Samsung displays are over saturated that's why they look awesome at the expense of color accuracy.

Yep it only took 5 years to finally beat LCD technology.:p

They do have best display, but the color accuracy of Samsung phones are inferior to Apple displays, Apple Calibrates every phone & Samsung has to over saturate the display to make it look gorgeous.

I am forever picking up my 6S because it won't read my fingerprints! Often needs 2-3 goes before insisting on a pin.
Also remember the S8 has an always on display so many things you would routinely unlock your phone for, notifications and the like, there is no need to with the S8

Maybe you're doing it wrong. :apple:

A third of my family or friends would be enough reason for me. At least I can accommodate those users that use imessage.

But there's other reasons for iphone:

1. It's not bloatware over android. Complete with bloated half baked services from samsung. Granted, Apple puts some junk on there that few use but it's pure iOS. For android, you should be all about pure google.

2. iphones get updates. Your samsung bloatware special will be lacking.

3. Support at apple store. You'll have to go see your carrier who will laugh at you and your samsung bloatware special.

4. Integrates seamlessly with Macs. Your samsung bloatware special doesn't do this. But perhaps you use windows except it doesn't integrate seamlessly there either. Maybe samsung still makes bloatware PC's to integrate with?

5. iOS is made for iphone and vice versa. Although maybe Samsung has its bloatware designed for your samsung bloatware special.

6. iphone retains its value longer. Easy resell. The samsung bloatware special is essentially worthless in a few years if it lasts that long.

7. iOS apps are better quality.

8. Apple watch as an accessory. Or else you'll have to settle for a junk watch.

9. An iphone is more capable and does more things if you know what you're doing. Good luck with your samsung bloatware special.

10. And finally, more accessories are out there for your iphone. No one cares about your samsung bloatware special. Well, maybe advertisers do with popup ads but that's bloatware for you.

Did anyone ever consider force touch may have been developed for the transition to a software based home button down the line?

Samsung hardware has always been excellent, but with Apple, it's the entire package that counts. Software-wise, Samsung's no match for Apple. They even have their own 'S' apps that are duplicate inferior versions of Android products - talk about fragmentation!

You forgot to mention that Apple charges you $1000+ (7Plus) for a 3 year old design iPhone and a stale borring OS

Some reviews seem more impressed than others by the looks of it

I've said before that even as an Apple fan you have to give credit to Samsung on the design of the S8, it looks great. It's just the software they fail on.

And the position of the finger print reader, i don't know why they did that!

All u gotta do is sneeze, and people will feel unhappy instantly ..

We hate change.. but people gotta learn to be right handed. I thought it would have been more uncomfortable in the center, so this would have made it easier if u were a righty.

Get this phone off contract (outright) and it will stand up to Apple's purchase no problem,, stop playing favorites.

as usual Samsung races to the finish line with a rushed product to claim they are FIRST with the full screen lol. There is no technological advancements here. Apple could have done this years ago. It leaves the door wide open yet again due to Samsung's lack of effort. Apple will embed the scanner within the glass screen for seamless interaction and will make a killing.

You better get used to them though. In a few years, majority of OEMs will use curved screens, which is just paving the way for folding screens.

I don't think so, but just my personal opinion. I think curved screens are a fad, nothing more. Apple is only doing 2.5d similar to their current phones, which is one of the major reasons why I decided to wait for the iPhone.

Stunning hardware. If this was the new Pixel, I would probably buy it. Samsung? No. But over all -- assuming they don't explode -- it should sell like crazy.

I don't expect Apple to beat this design with the iPhone 8. Too incremental, careful. Meh.

Yeah I thought the same, if it was Google I'd be all over it, even ignoring the crappy aspect ratio and curved screens. I'm fed up with waiting 8-9 months to get OS updates. In 3 months I'll be on here crying that my phone doesn't have Oreo. Plus locked bootloaders, yeah FU Samsung.

lol agreed with your replies

it's like "well my dad is better than yours"

don't understand why people feel so threated by other products from different brands. It's ok to admit both the iphone/samsung are great devices

Lol, THIS sums up pretty much EVERY argument on this forum. "well my dad is better than yours"
