I'm surprised to find myself thinking that the Flip 7's design is far more appealing than what Samsung has offered with the Fold 7 this time around. That said, I'm not in the market for a new phone. My OnePlus Open is two years old, and I anticipate holding onto it for at least another year, unless the iPhone 17 Air truly delivers something unexpected.

Aren’t the Pixel 10 devices basically going to be exactly the same as the 9 range just with the new chip.

There are rumours to that affect yes, but at this point I may as well wait until next month and see before deciding to either jump to Pixel or stick with my S24 Ultra. They are second phones anyway so it's not like I'm in a hurry. I'm just a tech enthusiast and I'm interested in Pixel at the moment.

That red do looks nice, but it's not as dark as I would have liked... think I'd settle for the blue, but yeah.. tough decision lol

Plan on using a case?

Decided on the blue, and not using a case. I had a case on my Flip5, then removed it after the first month or so. I'll be putting on a screen protector for the cover display as well as the back for the inevitable micro scratches.

I actually like the look of the Flip 7, if I was going to go for a foldable thats the one I would choose personally. I'm also impressed with the new Watch 8 design.

I welcome the wider front screen of the Fold 7 and it also makes more sense Samsung ditched the S Pen. I am sure the primary driver was device thinness and lack of S Pen use among most Fold owners. Another reason would also be the wider front cover screen.

My current Fold 6 case has the S Pen along the hinge, on the side, which altogether is probably just as wide as the new Fold 7. Putting the S Pen on the rear of a case often interferes with MagSafe compatibility and, now that the Fold 7 is wider, it wouldn't make sense to locate the S Pen on the side either.

In short, I am slowly accepting the loss of S Pen support and finding myself more and more convinced to still upgrade to the Fold 7.
No, no, no lol. The S-Pen should be supported on the Fold series… it’s marketed as a 2-1, they claim it to be a tablet while their Tab series use the S-Pen.

I can promise you this… if (or when) Apple come out with a book-style foldable and they add Apple Pencil support for it, Samsung will reverse course so quick. Samsung has the resources to make something as similar to the Apple Pencil (since they removed the digitizer) and have it support the inner display. OnePlus done it.

I will cross that bridge when I have to accept the loss of the S-Pen… but with the Fold 7, it’s not that time (too soon).

ZLive gave me an extra 219 UKP off on My Fold 7 in addition to free case and free buds pro 3

Oh I didnt know that, I thought it was just the free buds. That's a good offer. Did you go with Fold 7 or the Flip?

From my perspective, the Watch 8 represents a questionable value proposition, almost akin to a scam. Maintaining the same processor as the Watch 7 while simultaneously increasing the price point is difficult to justify. The expected battery life, barely reaching 24 hours on a single charge, is fundamentally inadequate for a modern smartwatch. I had anticipated that more manufacturers would emulate OnePlus's innovative dual-chip architecture to address battery longevity.

A smartwatch capable of sustained operation for a minimum of three days on a single charge should be a standard expectation, as daily recharging is a significant inconvenience. My personal use case for a smartwatch is limited almost exclusively to notification reception. For payments, I predominantly defer to my smartphone. Furthermore, the overall quality of WearOS applications is unremarkable; I rarely engage with apps on my smartwatch, which has become primarily a dedicated notification conduit.

I am sure the Fold 7 still works with those basic capacitive-type stylus (they work with any phone screen), but it's not the same as the S Pen.

I am curious whether Apple will include Pencil support with their iFold. It would need to be a redesigned Pencil as the current one would be too bulky for a phone.

I wonder if Samsung already knows that the iFold won't have Pencil support and that's why Samsung is comfortable eliminating S Pen support now. After all, Samsung Display provides the screens for the next iFold.

People, the s pen is crucial to the Fold. Well, it saves me a lot of money. Believe it or not, I'm going to add the iPhone 17 to my repertoire (not sure which model).

I currently have 1TB on my Fold6 and have used up 1/3 capacity in a year. I am on the fence between 512GB and 1TB for the Fold7. With the price increase I was going to downgrade to 512GB, but am wondering if the 16GB RAM (that comes with 1TB) would be beneficial for AI tasks. Anyone want to chime in?

Heavily thinking about buying the Fold. What do you think how much SOT we will get?
I'm waiting to see some battery tests on the Fold 7.

My Fold 6 was getting 9-10 hours SOT but now can't get me through a full day after updating to OneUI 7. I lost 1-1.5 hours SOT with OneUI 7. I should've stayed on OneUI 6. Seriously, if I was still on OneUI 6 then the pull of the Fold 7 wouldn't be as strong.

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually make a Fold Ultra. A version that is thicker to allow the digitizer and bigger battery perhaps. Just for the people that swear by the SPen. Samsung knows the number of people that actually use the SPen, so this calculation to remove it was worth it for them. The managed to keep the same battery with a much more widely acceptable size and weight. Samsung knocked it out of the park this year, it's a worthy upgrade.

Crease seems to be about the same unfortunately and why on earth didnt they put the "new" camera punch hole in the corner like every other foldable???? it will stick out watching any video content in landscape mode. in the corner it would have been hidden by the usual black bars of movies

Really? YouTube reviews show a significant improvement in the crease. It truly is barely noticeable now.

No it’s certainly better

Hardly noticeable compared to fold 6. Its using same ultra thin glass as SE

give it two weeks ;)
I've had the Fold 4/5/6 and have not noticed the crease getting worse over time. After a year with my Fold 6 and the crease has never registered with me. It just isn't an issue when viewing content and rarely does my finger drag across the centerline.

Below is a very small sampling during CNET's pre-Galaxy Unpacked coverage but I'm glad less and less people see the crease as an issue or dealbreaker (because it really is a minor quibble).

Trading in a Fold 5 last year (towards a Fold 6) netted $1200, but today trading in a Fold 6 only returns $1000 while the Fold 7 price increased too. On top of that, no discounts on SamsungCare+ like last year.

Yup… they are working on it now.

And it doesn’t necessarily have to be bulky, Samsung could make it slimmer to make it work. I’m not into cases anyways… if anything I would prefer it to be something like the Tab series where it has some type of magnets to keep the S-Pen secured.

I wonder if Samsung already knows that the iFold won't have Pencil support and that's why Samsung is comfortable eliminating S Pen support now. After all, Samsung Display provides the screens for the next iFold.
I think that leaker PandaFlashPro was right about some specialized S-Pen that was tied to the Fold 7, not sure why Samsung bailed on it. Because for a signature feature to get removed… there has to be more to the story besides the whole “people wasn’t using it.”

Why else would there have been rumors of them working on a new S-Pen if they thought that people won’t use it? And fair enough, remove the S-Pen.. what is Samsung replacing it with, that’s what I don’t understand. In most cases, when companies remove something… it’s replaced with a different feature (or better yet cost saving applied for the consumer).

And supposedly, they mention removing the digitizer will help with durability… because normally after a year or so the screen protector starts peeling. Not sure if that’s what they are referring to, I don’t buy it though. And maybe the iFold won’t have Pencil support from the jump… but I’d wager it will come in the future.
