I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually make a Fold Ultra. A version that is thicker to allow the digitizer and bigger battery perhaps. Just for the people that swear by the SPen. Samsung knows the number of people that actually use the SPen, so this calculation to remove it was worth it for them. The managed to keep the same battery with a much more widely acceptable size and weight. Samsung knocked it out of the park this year, it's a worthy upgrade.
The s pen should be used by all. Stop defending Samsung. They blew it and the Fold7 is not going to sell well.
Well a little s here.

But seriously, I hope they do release an Ultra version with s pen support. We'll see...

Stats show people don’t use it and why it’s likely going from s26 ultra too

Sell well hardly matters what android flagship does? It will certainly sell the most foldables

Yup… they are working on it now.

And it doesn’t necessarily have to be bulky, Samsung could make it slimmer to make it work. I’m not into cases anyways… if anything I would prefer it to be something like the Tab series where it has some type of magnets to keep the S-Pen secured.

I think that leaker PandaFlashPro was right about some specialized S-Pen that was tied to the Fold 7, not sure why Samsung bailed on it. Because for a signature feature to get removed… there has to be more to the story besides the whole “people wasn’t using it.”

Why else would there have been rumors of them be working on a new S-Pen if they thought that people won’t use it? And fair enough, remove the S-Pen.. what is Samsung replacing it with, that’s what I don’t understand. In most cases, when companies remove something… it’s replaced with a different feature (or better yet cost saving applied for the consumer).

And supposedly, they mention removing the digitizer will help with durability… because normally after a year or so the screen protector starts peeling. Not sure if that’s what they are referring to, I don’t buy it though. And maybe the iFold won’t have Pencil support from the jump… but I’d wager it will come in the future.

I remember reading an article a while back, (in fact it may of been a couple of years ago) saying that Apple had a smaller version of the Apple Pencil working on an unreleased iPhone. Could the article/leaker of got it wrong and in fact it was meant for the foldable that Apple have been working on for a number of years, instead of a normal slab iPhone.

Samsung probably had a choice to make in order to get the Fold 7 thinner, however I think the S-Pen is perfect for a foldable considering the screen is like a small tablet. I just hope they don't remove it from the S Ultra phones.

I would like to tell you… they won’t remove S-Pen support from the S Ultra phones. But given today announcement with the Fold 7 (never thought it would be removed), so.. who knows? They removed Bluetooth support… maybe it’s an indication it’s coming down the line.

Yeah, i know it's not the most popular but it's very necessary for us that use it. Also, I was being sarcastic. I tried to show that with the s.

I ordered case 30% off to go with my black phone

As @rhinosrcool mention… it shouldn’t be about popularity. I have an Apple Pencil for the Pad… I don’t use it regularly, but when I do it’s a nice feature to have (for signing documents or editing photos/videos).

Because using the “stats show people don’t use it” card… could be applied to just about every niche feature, but that shouldn’t excuse the existence of it.

Not saying it’s right or wrong but it’s clear that’s the route Samsung are going

Of course if Apple release a pencil mini for their foldable next year it could return

One thing I would say the punch hole is very noticeable on fold 7 and seem many now complaining about it.

I'm surprised to find myself thinking that the Flip 7's design is far more appealing than what Samsung has offered with the Fold 7 this time around. That said, I'm not in the market for a new phone. My OnePlus Open is two years old, and I anticipate holding onto it for at least another year, unless the iPhone 17 Air truly delivers something unexpected.
The Open is a truly great device. I traded mine in on a OP 13 (I still had a 9 Pro Fold and ZF6) but the matte cover on the inner display along with the fast charging are really missed. I'm almost considering picking one up on swappa again

I'll be going caseless. ZF6 held up without a single scratch and I only used a case on mine for about a week. These flimsy foldable cases aren't going to give much drop protection unless you get the bulky D-brand one or the Spigen Slim Armor Pro

I use a slim case to help with slippery phone syndrome ZF6 case helped big time with that and minor nicks I would've had with my usage pattern

I hate Samsung's broken website math. So, with my education discount, the 512GB is down to $1899 - $1000 Fold6 trade-in should equal $899 left to pay. Oh, but not so fast. Once I add the trade-in then Samsung changes the numbers:

EDIT: This was my own dumbness. The education discount is 5% off the device price. It just dawned on me that after you add in the trade-in, that adjusts the device price subtotal and that's why it "loses $50" (in effect, 5% not discounted from the $1000 trade-in). No double-dipping.

The reduced price for the Flip 7 really should be its permanent price as I bet the Exynos 2500 is cheaper for them than the Elite would have been.

Still can't bring myself to click the order button on the Fold7. Had to take my wife to the ER today and it was so natural to pull out the S Pen and start jotting notes while talking with the doctors.

I think I'll keep my beloved Fold6, all 299 grams of it (phone, Magsafe case, screen protector, and S Pen). Thinner and lighter Fold7 sounds nice but I dont find my Fold6 particularly thick nor heavy. Hopefully, battery life is restored with OneUI 8 on the Fold6.

Once again I am tempted to jump from the boring and stale iPhone..
the pre order bonuses are insane - galaxy watch ultra AND Buds 3 Pro..
I just don’t want to use any Google services and the only thing keeping me in apple ecosystem is how the apps are polished

Oh wow! I hope she's okay!

Yeah, I’m moving on to waiting for One UI 8 beta. And I’m paying monthly for Samsung Care+… so I’m good for a replacement if some issues was to take place. But I really think S-Pen makes a return.. Samsung gotta give us a reason to upgrade in the future lol.

And tbh, Fold 7 is in my cart… I will keep checking occasionally to see if there’s any worthwhile discounts! If I get some CRAZY discounts… could see myself pulling the trigger. But Samsung has to give me a reason to buy it, while I doubt it will happen.

I hope she's ok, best wishes.

when I do use spen it's useful, but if I'm on my pixel I don't miss it

First and most importantly i hope that your wife is ok, that’s the main thing. The S-Pen is a vital Samsung component, they have used it as far back as the Note series. To discontinue it is a bad move, at least in my opinion. When it comes to the S26 Ultra, i really hope they don’t make the wrong decision and anger Note users (which the Ultra model is, lets face it).

Random question. Do other styluses work? I guess a consolation is that if you can still use a 3rd party stylus, it's not the worst thing in the world.

Not as far as I’m aware of, they removed the support for a pen to work. I think it was a sacrifice in order to make it smaller.

It may not be a big deal to a lot of people, but wait until Samsung remove it from the S26 Ultra line up and annoy a lot of old Note users. The S-pen is a stand out feature to people who buy certain Samsung phones for that very reason.
