Random question. Do other styluses work? I guess a consolation is that if you can still use a 3rd party stylus, it's not the worst thing in the world.
Yeah…and no. We can use those $10 stylus that’s compatible with capacitive touch screens… but it won’t support what makes the S-Pen special (hovering feature & using Air Commands).

Basically users won’t get the pointer or pressure sensitivity that Samsung has developed throughout these years. And it’s not as if Samsung has abandon the S-Pen… they still offer support via Tab series. I’m just hoping that whatever new features Samsung adds to the Tab, it includes S-Pen supported Fold devices.

Still can't bring myself to click the order button on the Fold7. Had to take my wife to the ER today and it was so natural to pull out the S Pen and start jotting notes while talking with the doctors.

I think I'll keep my beloved Fold6, all 299 grams of it (phone, Magsafe case, screen protector, and S Pen). Thinner and lighter Fold7 sounds nice but I dont find my Fold6 particularly thick nor heavy. Hopefully, battery life is restored with OneUI 8 on the Fold6.
Hope wifey is okay

I hope your wife is ok! I went through something similar with my son. Multiple DRs and specialists all giving me information. It is very hard to keep up with the flood of info. I started to record the conversations and convert them to text later

Oppo N5 and Note 7. I wish OnePlus would have made the N5 the OnePlus Open 2 and launched it at $1,499 to $1,699.

Sorry you're going through a similar experience. Like you, I've been recording all her doctor visits too. I only recently tried the auto-transcribe feature but it struggled with some of the audio. Still a cool feature and at least helps me quickly locate particular parts of conversations instead of having to scrub through the entire audio timeline. Hope things are better now for your son.

Thank you for everyone's concern. Wife is recovering well at home and I am grateful for the support of my parents that live nearby. I am running on fumes at work and needed to get out of the office to clear my head. I've been meaning to return my Galaxy Ring to BestBuy and happened to have it in my backpack. Unexpectedly, BestBuy had a demo unit of the Fold7 near the entrance. All I can say is it's mighty impressive in person.

The demo unit was the blue colorway and it really pops. But I was most in awe of how svelte the Fold7 is. Videos and photos don't do it justice. It is amazingly thin and light. The width of the Fold7 cover screen is in between the Fold6 and S24 SE, and about the same height as the S24 SE. Man, once I held Fold7 in my hand I started to consider upgrading again.

The Fold7 is mighty slippery though. I accidentally dropped it onto the display table within 30 seconds. The cover and inner displays are marginally bigger when side-by-side with my Fold6, but it's the thinness and lightness that really leaves a lasting impression. There is also more spring to the hinge when you unfold the Fold7, it quite literally "snaps" open with a crisp action when you get to the last 20-degrees or so. I need to experiment with not carrying the S Pen to mimic the Fold7 experience. Once we get more information on real-world battery life, then I'll know for sure what to do about the Fold7.

Hi All,

I'm thinking about moving from the 16 Pro Max to the Fold 7. I'm looking for feedback.

1. I'm on the 1up program. The trade-in value from Samsung is close to what I have left on payments. But if I don't like the Fold 7, I don't want to lose out on my 16PM. Does Samsung give you 30 days to send in the phone plus return period?
2. What discounts are out there that I can take advantage of?
3. I have an AW Ultra. I'd have to go with with a Samsung Ultra or Garmin. I've read that Samsung Ultra and AWU are somewhat similar. What is the opinion of this group?
4. Airpods—I assume these work just as well on Samsung phones.
5. Case—What are the better cases for this? I'd get the phone in blue.
6. If the iPhone fold is impressive next year, assuming it comes out, what is the resale hit after 1-year?
7. No S pen, kind of a crap move. I haven't used it, so I can't say I'd miss it. Seems like the group here is unhappy about it.
8. What else do I need to know?

Thanks for the help.

I’m an architect and do lots of drawings and notes. I’ve owned every Note and Fold except for the Fold 6. I love the S pen and use it daily. I’ve been practicing using my finger in OneNote on my Fold 5 and it think it will just about work so I’ve ordered the Fold 7.

I have a Supernote now which I use as my notepad and a Surface Pro for drawings but these are not always with me so hopefully I can get by with finger painting on the Fold 7.

I really like my fold 4, but I am having a hard time justifying an upgrade to the 7 when they killed s-pen support. The inside camera is.. not my favorite move, but also understandable... if it's a better camera. The old one was crap! Actually the old cameras on the phones were crap lol. But from what I've heard I'm not sure it's worth the sacrifice.

Edit: I'm actually a fan of the skinny form factor when the phone is closed! My hands aren't big so it's nicer to hold the fold4 than it is to hold an iphone lol.

Case will certainly be needed as the wobble without one is not great. I plan to get the silcone case from Samsung

I'm telling you, one thing is kind of eating at me. And that's that there's a part of me that just is so intrigued by joining the Foldable world. Combine that with the fact that I really do think the S26 Ultra will also phase out the S-Pen and based on leaks, won't have an upgraded battery. So really, if there's a time to hop in, it's now. It's just really really tough to pay 1,000 after trade in to do that.

After about a half year from switching away from Apple, I'm pretty sure that I want to stay with Samsung. I love my Watch Ultra and love OneUI so much. And I could stay put and be just fine. But I do have some use cases for a foldable that make sense, one of them being a bigger screen for song lyrics when I'm performing on stage.

Tough choice. It's in my cart and honestly the only thing holding me back is the cost.

It’s a tough one for sure

For me I just want a bigger device for general usage. Better productivity as well. I spend so much time on my phone I just feel rather have a better display to view it on

For cameras I have my Vivo for that

I’m really tempted to take the plunge with the Fold 7—this would be my first folding phone though. That said, I have some concerns: mainly around durability, and whether I’d actually enjoy the foldable form factor. I’ve never really been a tablet user nor enjoyed the experience even with the iPad mini, and I’ve always preferred the largest traditional slab phones. On top of that, the 4,400mAh battery feels a bit underwhelming. Maybe I’d be better off just sticking with the S25 Ultra?

I saw it in Best Buy tonight. Mind you, I am coming from a OnePlus Open. My mouth dropped at how thin the Fold 7 was. People are going to be taken back when they hold it for the first time.
I can't wait to make it over to BB this weekend hopefully get some Hands-On with it

If you feel it's time to jump in... go for it! Yeah, the price is steep... but you will surely enjoy it.

If you can cover the cost... why not pull the trigger? But with that being said.... theres nothing wrong with waiting it out. If you really want it... give it some time and maybe Samsung has better discounts.

Same for me, Galaxy Fold is my favorite device.

For cameras I have my Vivo for that
For me, I just grab my Lumix camera when I want to take better quality photos.

Get some insurance and you will be safe. But there was one occasion where durability was called into question, back when I had a Fold 2 (dead pixel near crease area)... and Samsung took care of it.

Been a foldable user for 5 years now, durability will not really be a concern if you opt for some insurance.

You can always do a test drive... see if you like it? And yeah, battery looks to be underwhelming... but supposedly the new chip will out in battery performance. Maybe wait to see the reviews and then decide.

Glad to hear it. I'm personally planning on doing a dbrand skin and maybe a screen protector and no case. So insurance is a given.
