That is piss poor service right there. Might as well open it up and play with it a bit if you are taking a 5% fee regardless.

That said I'd try to go up the chain first and see what you can do. Also put a note on your door to UPS and say you are refusing delivery. Can you make a note in the UPS app? I've never tried to refuse a delivery.
Yeah, I refused a delivery before... an open box monitor. UPS driver seen the box was not in good shape... offered to let me have a look inside (monitor wasn't in excellent condition). And asked me did I want to refuse delivery, I told them "can I do that?"

And he told me yeah... then I contacted Best Buy to let them know what happened. They sent me another order... that monitor I kept.

On a side note, UBS estimates the foldable iPhone could sell for as low as $1800-$2000. While possible, I doubt Apple would skip the opportunity to slap a Cupertino premium on the device. Just because it could be sold for that low doesn't mean Apple will.

That's another factor in me holding out on the Fold7, knowing that Apple's foldable iPhone may release late next year and it is doubtful Apple will give good trade-in values for Samsung devices.
It all depends on what Apple compromises on... if they go premium on the outer & inner display (both at 120hz) while adding top tier camera technology. Then I could see it starting out at $2300. But since they are selling iPhone Air with one main camera.. then perhaps this iPhone foldable could have one camera as well.

So, it could sell as low as $1800-$2000... depending on the components. But on the topic of Apple giving good trade-in values for Samsung devices... that's not happening lol. Similar to how Samsung handles trade-in... they place more worth on their devices than competitors.

Kind of pissed at Samsung for this whole order cancel issue. They confirmed that it is indeed going to ship out even though I was clearly able to cancel the order online. They said that I will have to return it with a 5% restock fee unless I can somehow refuse the package with UPS. Literally no efforts to help or anything.
There won’t be a re-stocking fee if it’s overheating 😊

Welp they finally agreed to escalate to their tech team to try to stop the package from shipping.

Also, I totally expect Apple to cut some corners and charge at least $2,000.

Getting there. Here's hoping Home Up is ready soon!

I don’t know—iPhone pricing is right in line with Galaxy S and Pixel Pro devices. Early rumors are a bit smaller of a device (5.5” outer display, 7.6” inner display, only 2 rear cameras, TouchID instead of FaceID). A price of $1999 looks much better in marketing than even $2000. If the early specs hold and I was forced to bet, I’d wager $1999 as the starting price—that’s $800 more than an equivalent Pro Max phone.

Yeah, rumors have the design similar to that of the original Pixel Fold... where it opens up landscape orientation.

And what are your thoughts about the smaller display? Seems like it would be an iPhone Mini when folded... obviously Apple folks will like it, but I wonder how others will react. I just have a feeling if Apple announce a book-style foldable with a 5.5"-5.8" outer display, it's going to be so much criticism on how it needs to be bigger.

I think it can work, the more important thing becomes the aspect ratio on the inside screen. If the rumours about Apple going for a 7.6-7.8” display with a near 4:3 aspect ratio is true it would play video content better than the Z Fold 7 does, even if the Z Fold 7 is in landscape.

Personally that would be a good compromise and great for both reading books and watching video, it would be very very close to the iPad Mini 5. And I really had no problems with that device when it came to size for a small tablet.

Eww, 5.5-5.8" would be too small for me and a step backwards. Similarly, I was never a fan of the Pixel Fold dimensions (in addition to the software limitations, performance, battery life, etc). Well, if that means I'm not getting the 1st-gen iPhone Fold then that's one less barrier towards Fold7...or wait for lucky number Fold8.

But think about the inner display... as @ofarlig mentioned, the experience would be much better when it comes to viewing content. And it would be tailored more for a two-app layout, but from the looks of your past multitasking screenshots it appears you are okay with using two-app layout in portrait.

Whenever I'm using two-app layout (split-view) on the Galaxy Fold it's in landscape orientation... if I'm multitasking in portrait pop-up windows are used. But it's starting to look as if I'm passing up on the ZF7... price hasn't changed from $764.99, not sure if it's going to fall below that.

I actually bought the Pixel Fold then returned it to get the Fold 5. The cover screen of the Fold 5 was a turn off and at first I thought the Pixel form factor was better but I ended up preferring the Samsung (besides the cover screen). So if Apple uses a similar form factor as the original Pixel Fold that wouldn't appeal to me.

While 16:9 content has the bars, a lot of other content I watch fills the entire inner screen on the Fold 6. For watching content I use the inner screen in landscape, but for productivity or multiple apps then I prefer portrait orientation.

With a 5.5" or 5.8" front cover display I would basically be relegated to always use the inner screen and I don't want that all the time. Even with the narrower Fold4 I enjoyed a balance of front screen and inner screen use -- I often have two apps open on the cover screen or 3 apps open on the inner screen. Given the choice, I'd rather get the Fold7 than an Apple Pixel Fold...or simply hold onto my Fold6. Even Google ditched the passport-size format and went 6.3" for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold front display so I don't see Apple wanting to repeat their competitor's mistakes with 5.8".

I think the Fold7 can get down to $650 with trade-in, at which point I may pull the trigger. All Samsung has to do is up the trade-in value to $1100, or better yet $1200 like last year's Fold5. Let's see what Labor Day or Black Friday deals look like.

I had the first Pixel Fold and while I find the Pixel 9 Pro Fold to offer a more useful cover display size, it really doesn't offer more usable space for video consumption on the inner display because the larger overall height added just that to the inner display--more height which basically just means larger black bars when watching video.

That being said, I like having the larger form factor for everything else. Ironically, the first gen Pixel Fold actually had a larger battery (due to it being a few mm thicker). I'm also having a hard time reconciling how a device with a 5.5" outer display translates to a 7.6" inner display considering the first Pixel Fold had a 5.8" outer display yet also had 7.6" inner display dimensions. I guess maybe the iPhone will have far smaller inner bezels (the original Pixel Fold had pretty chunky bezels on the inner display).

I don't think I'll prefer the smaller device but conversely, for me at the moment, a smaller device running iOS (and iPad OS?) trumps a larger device running Android since I live much more so in the Apple ecosystem. I'm also not the norm for foldable users as I use it unfolded far more than closed.

I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm probably one of the few that preferred the original Pixel Fold to the 9 Pro Fold - thought the form factor was superb, even with my shovel like hands

Don't worry there are a few of us. I still have my original Fold as I love reading whats apps and replying to emails quickly. It was my second phone which I pretty much used as a small iPad. Still love it now, albeit I have a Samsung Fold 7 and really loving that.

You've got your Fold 7 already? Nice ;) Hoping mine lands with me Monday / Tuesday next week via Amazon UK

And selling the OG Pixel Fold was regretted a few weeks later; I had the 9 Pro Fold and it was excellent; but it didn't 'do it for me' where the PF did!

So about 5% better battery life for the Fold7 over the Fold6. Not bad considering the Snapdragon 8 Elite is more performant and Fold7 has larger displays. I am curious how fresh the Fold6 battery is and how it would perform once it gets OneUI 8 because OneUI 7 is known to reduce battery life.

I like her take on the removal of the s pen. Hopefully, next year?
I think it could come next year, that's why I'm leaning on not upgrading barring some ridiculous discount I can't pass up. And it’s starting to come into focus with the removal of the S-Pen, don’t like the move… but I understand it.

Getting it thinner and lighter will bring in more adoption to the foldable industry… and removing the digitizer had to go cause of that goal, it makes sense. I’m all for more folks jumping into the foldable world… more users turns into more market share which allows for devs/tech world to take the platform seriously.

I'm part of the mostly silent majority not using the S-Pen with my S24 Ultra at all after the first week or two of ownership. ;)

Tom

One thing that almost made me go for the S25+ was the fact that I don't use the SPen at all. I still went with the Ultra, but I don't have a reason to use the SPen. Maybe as a camera it might be beneficial, but it sounds like they took away the shutter feature, which is a bummer.
