One thing that almost made me go for the S25+ was the fact that I don't use the SPen at all. I still went with the Ultra, but I don't have a reason to use the SPen. Maybe as a camera it might be beneficial, but it sounds like they took away the shutter feature, which is a bummer.
I use a S25 as my daily phone and traded the 24 Ultra for a Fold 7 for traveling TV-video. :)

It seems the Tri-Fold will have the Snapdragon Elite powering it.

I’m definitely not getting the Samsung Tri Fold…

Fast forward to the end of the year, I mean, why not? 😂

I'd rather go 8 in for my on the go foldable and I'm sure it will not be available in US first release

I’m afraid of the price tag but then again, I bought a $4K (with tax) Apple Vision Pro on Day 1. But I use it quite often to watch movies, though.

Oh snap. I forgot that Samsung is releasing a VR headset this year so I feel like I want that one too. Okay, this is adding up…

Samsung Tri Fold
Samsung VR headset

That’s likely around $5K. Jeez. :(

2025 GWU order cancelled; picked up a brand new GWU for £300 via eBay (business reseller) this morning, should be with me tomorrow

Better than £599 for the current one which, as far as I can see, is hardly an upgrade - happy to keep said £300 in my back pocket!

Looking forward to the Fold 7 landing next week though :)

Really enjoying the S25U again as well; deffo going to keep hold of it to compare to the Fold 7 and see which I 'prefer' ;)

To simulate the Fold 7 experience without S Pen, I went back to a slim MagSafe clear case. The ~9% weight deduction (from 299g down to 274g total) is a welcomed change, but now I notice the narrowness of the Fold6 more when typing on the front cover screen. Before, the extra width of the Nillkin MagSafe S Pen case made it easier to type without hands cramping.

Part of the reason for going to a lighter case is also because my phone has been falling off the MagSafe car mount more regularly when hitting big potholes or particularly deep railroad tracks. Funny that this started happening just a few weeks ago after the Fold7 was released. My family keeps saying it's because my Fold6 is too heavy, but it stayed on the car mount just fine for a year.

Anyways, I think I'm convincing myself to trade-in for the Fold7...still can't decide between 512GB Mint or Blue versus 1TB Blue.

Yeah, I think you going to upgrade soon enough... but I thought 512GB was already decided upon?

There was supposed to be S-Pen Pro delivered yesterday, didn't show up.. now it's TBD on when it will arrive. Not sure if that's a sign telling me to go ahead and upgrade myself lol. Don't know if I should do the trade-in when next year Samsung announce S-Pen support then I'll be doing another upgrade.

S Pen Pro? How do you plan to carry the Pro pen? There's not a case that accommodates the Pro pen, is there? Or are you still caseless?

I thought I was set on 512GB Mint, but for the launch day price of the 512GB I can get 1 TB with latest discounts. Of course, that's still $230 more than latest discounts on the 512GB, but part of me feels the extra $230 isn't too bad for 512GB more storage plus a bump to 16GB RAM.

I am aware that if I were to upgrade again in a year to the Fold8 then the 1TB doesn't net any higher trade-in value, but I dont want to keep up this expensive upgrade cycle. I would really like to hold onto the Fold7 at least 2-3 years and, in that case, the 1TB/16GB seems like a better choice.

Technically i have a case, it's one of those thin carbon fiber cases... but only have the back portion covered mostly to place a magsafe ring on it. I don’t use a case for the outer/cover, as long as I have a screen protector... it's good enough for me.

I plan to carry the S-Pen Pro in my backpack... it's a small one, it goes in the top portion along with the Apple Pencil, wallet and keys.

Well, if you interested in the 1TB... go for it. Don't settle... I personally can't see myself needing that much storage, but I wouldn't use 16 GB of RAM a reason to get it (12 to 16 is not much of a jump).

Yeah, thats why I'm hesitant on upgrading now. Normally I upgrade every other year... this was going to be the exception because of how big of an update the ZF7 is. But unfortunately removal of the S-Pen has put that on pause, so I likely be back on the every other year cycle.

I agree, the 16GB isn't a selling point and just a ho-hum bonus with 1TB. I don't think I ever use more than 10GB RAM on the Fold6.

I already filled 400GB after a year on the Fols6, and the 200MP camera on the Fold7 will definitely have larger file sizes. Of course, I dont plan to always shoot at full resolution, but that's part of why 512GB feels limiting to me. Then again, I am a little bit of a digital hoarder and could learn to purge.

16GB RAM with DeX is huge. If you use DeX, you need 16GB for optimal desktop-class performance.
Not sure what you're doing with Dex, I've been using it on my 12GB S9 and S10 Ultra tablets daily for over 2 years without a single memory hiccup. They manage memory well and very seldom use 8 GB out of the 12 available. Huge, need, and optimal, are very dubious relative specifications. ;)

I don't use DeX. I just read it on the Internet that you need a lot of RAM.

I wonder if anyone has gotten a shipping notice yet? Maybe on Monday?
I've seen a few peeps with tracking looked up so we shall see .. unfortunately I'm picking up at BB so don't think earlier than Friday for me most likely Saturday due to my week schedule

Has anyone come across an example of either the Fold 7 or Flip 7 in Mint color in a store? Or do they not display Samsung exclusive colors in-store?

Also, which case (if any) are you sporting on your soon-to-be delivered Fold 7?

GSMArena always does a good job presenting actual metrics to their reviews.

Vs. The Fold6:
  • Screens are not as bright.
  • Battery life is less for web browsing, but higher for gaming and mobile.
  • Speakers are a slight downgrade.
  • Charging speed is slightly faster.

I'm wondering if it's worth taking advantage of Amazon not releasing phones yet and ordering the 1TB Fold 7 for £100 more than the 512GB Fold

Not that I'll ever use that amount of storage

Part of the story, the main actual metric difference is in the package. ;)

Much improved, thin and lightweight design.
Bigger screens with better aspect ratios.

The device is very similar to its predecessors, but it's now significantly lighter and thinner. Samsung has put a lot of thought into the redesign to make it sleeker, more portable, yet tougher.
