Post-launch, the prices go back up, of course. No more double storage, reservation bonus, or $300 accessory incentives. And the trade-in value may go down over time.

But if you do wait, Black Friday last year saw $800 off the Fold 6 with no trade or up to $1500 with trade.

Great point. It is sounding like the Fold 7 will outsell the Fold 6 so maybe Samsung won't feel the need to discount as much this year. If that's the case then it is what it is and I can wait till the next upgrade cycle.

I'm like 90% sure I'm keeping the ZF6, occasionally I look to see if there's better promos going for the ZF7... but it's going to be a situation where Samsung has to do a ridiculously drastic price cut to make me consider it.

Also I'm looking to see what One UI 8 will bring to the ZF6... because if I get that Side-by-Side Editing AI feature, that would certainly make the decision easier to stay put. What is your percentages on being in favor of upgrading? Because I can really see you doing the trade-in within month or two...

By the time Black Friday rolls around... which is 4 months into the cycle, I think it's better off waiting for the ZF8 unless someone is in desperate need of a phone.
That's what I'm curious about too. I want to see if OneUI 8 restores some battery life for the Fold6. If OneUI 8 hurts rather than helps the Fold6 then that will probably be my impetus to upgrade, but that's gonna be a couple months out before we find out.

By this weekend we should start seeing a lot more hands-on reviews and thorough camera/battery life comparisons between the Fold7 and Fold6. I am also curious if a review site will do an AI test between 12GB vs 16GB RAM. In short, I'm still 50/50 on upgrading or not. As of now I am not fully convinced it's worth giving up the Fold 6, but that can change with new information.

I'm starting think that maybe....just maybe....my order was actually cancelled. Sounds like UPS is receiving the packages for everyone but mine hasn't been picked up yet, so maybe they were able to stop it.

I also ended up messaging the CEO and have someone following up with me now.

Overall, I love Samsung's phones but their customer service has been a really big disappointment, but I understand it's been this way for a while now.

What factors made the Fold 7 an easy upgrade decision for you? And which color/storage option did you go with?

Yeah for a computer company they don't seem too computer order savvy. Early pre-order then they dropped it another $110. Called and was told I had to have another pre-order before they could cancel first order so I then placed another order but the cancel order option dropped from first order. Called and directed to order specialist,, I was told not a problem, he fixed it and first order was cancelled. Next day I received email stating first order was cancelled, I'm a happy camper. 5 days later I still have 2 orders in progress, call order specialist and am told the cancelation has been cancelled.

Currently one phone shipped but bank charges for 2. Called Samsung and was told the only option I have is to wait and see what shows up.

The whole thing is just maddening. I clearly had a cancel button, hit it, got the email confirmation that it was cancelled.

And now I'm sitting with this even after getting a response from the CEO office:

Your order wasn't guaranteed to be cancelled even though you had a cancel button. We called UPS and they can't reroute the package. You have the option to refuse the package if you happen to be home. Maybe write a note. Oh and if that doesn't work and you return it, we have no way of waiving or refunding the restocking fee.

Not ok with Samsung as a company at the moment whatsoever.

Its a no brainier for me given the generous trade in's/bundles and I have a full 1 year OEM warranty that's worth a hidden $200 for those that tend to take extended warranties and only trade up every 2 or 3 years.

It's important to focus on the positives IMO and those that dwell on the short comings generally fail to account for the likely extra costs associated with them.

If Samsung did an Elite/Pro version with all the bells and whistles, more so than even the S25 Ultra I would gladly pay say $250-500 more for SC batteries, high end lens etc, but many would not and already baulk at the just sub 2K price point.

This year the extra thinness and greater outer screen and less weight answers many critics main points vs slab phones. I have always been a 95% inner screen man but maybe I will use the outer screen a little more now.

I was a big supporter of the SPen but this last year I have used it less and it did add bulk to the cases I use, so it does have some positives in loosing it. I would of preferred the inner selfie cam stayed under screen but again the positive is its a better camera this time round.

I opted for the Blue with the free upgrade to 512MB and got the Coral Red for the Mrs :)

Just got a notification from UPS that it's shipped and will arrive this Friday. First time they used UPS to ship to me, they usually ship FedEx.

Update: Just changed to Thursday. 😊

When the Fold 6 came out it was so similar to my 5 that I didn't think it was worth an upgrade but the 7? It's addressed most of the things I considered weaknesses and I looks amazing.

Being able to snag a galaxy watch 8 for free is what pushed me over the edge. I’m sure I’ll have some serious regret with any black Friday deals. They have this year.

What a joke no phone today and no communication about any delays

Buds pro arrived and my case but no phone and they can’t even tell me what it’s coming

Can’t imagine there being a lot of 1TB orders

Their QC during this preorder is so disappointing that old douchey me would have probably been like "Screw it I'm going back to Apple" but I love my S25 Ultra too much. But still very disappointed.

2 orders inbound, what do the marketing idiots expect with an over 2 week pre-order period during which they keep offering changing incentives and changing order terms? Just wait and we will fix it...

I'm just trying to get them to at least offer me a gift card for my trouble so I can use it towards the S26 Ultra next year.

Samsung just told me that if I prefer to keep my order, they will offer me a $100 refund and a $50 gift card towards an accessory. I don't think I'm going to take them on it but at least I got finally some sort of ownership over this whole issue.

Amazing that Fold 7 is already reaching customer hands 3 days early. I read on Reddit that Good Lock isn't working on OneUI 8 yet.

Mine now says preparing for dispatch so good news but if I was a user who was iPhone only it might’ve put me off

Amazing? I don't see it that... Samsung has been doing that for years now. My ZF6 was scheduled to be delivered on the 24th... but received it on the 19th.

Samsung don't do product releases like other companies... if it's ready, ship it. No need to hold it in a warehouse when it can be delivered to the customer, I like that about Samsung.

You're right. I went back and checked delivery and I received the Fold6 on July 19th -- five days early.
