In the past, what kind of trade in discounts do they give for the latest S Device? I'm thinking if I can somehow get my total to under $500 by trading in my S25 Ultra (only if I'm completely blown away) then I may pull the trigger.

There's nothing wrong with my S25 Ultra. Love it, so this is a long shot, but I have been intrigued by Folds.

I have the same curiosity as you...Loving my s25U but open to the Fold 7 if I am totally blown away by it...

There's no harm in trying it out... seeing whether you like it over the S25U. Heck, nowadays... folks buy the Galaxy Fold in the fall only to trade it in for the S Ultra at the beginning of the year (continue the cycle going forward).

The only way you could pay less than $500 is by stacking up on discounts... mine added up of $1260 savings, which I paid $759. But luckily... I got an addition $218 by contacting them to complain about the price adjustments a few days after preorders.

Ultimately, I paid $541... but some were able to get there's under $500 via stacking up on discounts (military, educational, employee, rakuten & referrals). I had traded in a Fold 4 ($1000 trade in) at the time.... so I probably could of gotten it under $500 if I had a Fold 5 ($1200 trade in).

Ahhhh yeah if it's like $700+, I'll probably just enjoy what I have now. I'm perfectly happy with the exception of battery and not being able to set Google Photos as default. But we'll see!

supposed actual picture of the back of the Z Fold 7

Meanwhile, SamMobile has obtained CAD files of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, showing exactly how thick the device is. When opened, it measures in at 4.54mm while it measures 9mm when folded. That’s a bit thicker than some leaks have suggested, but it’s still a drastic improvement over the prior generation. While it’s thicker than the Oppo Find N5, the difference is likely negligible. The full unfolded dimensions measure 158.43 x 143.14 x 4.54mm, contrary to a recent leak, but close to a leak from earlier this year.

Wait, is Samsung releasing an Ultra model after the initial Fold 7 launch? Or does Fold 7 == Fold 7 Ultra? It would suck to trade in my Fold 6 on a Fold 7, only to see an Ultra released soon afterwards. I guess we'll find out in a month or so. If we only see a Fold 7 then I'll know to be patient.

I'd have to believe the Fold 7 = Fold 7 Ultra. I think it's more likely that they'll release a cheaper Fold 7FE or similar, rather than the regular Fold 7 and then a juiced up 7 Ultra? We'll soon find out.

Played with the Fold 6 extensively last year but chose to not buy in the end. Was a fantastic device. Does anyone know if you get a ton of scratches on the internal screen, will Best Buy replace that under their Total plan? This is what's steering me towards the Flip 7, at least the inner screen will be protected most of the time. If the Flip 7 is wider than the 6, which based on leaks it should be? I am going to seriously consider trading in the S25U for it.

I don't know anything about the BestBuy coverage, but I just cleaned my Fold6 inner screen and can't see any fine scratches. It mostly just collects smudges and finger oils, but no scratches (that I can see) despite S Pen use the past 11 months.

The Fold6 has been a fantastic phone, but I'm seeing an hour less battery life ever since OneUI 7.

I think it's more just a statement... indicating that they plan to "do more" instead of just settling. I believe it will be called the Fold 7, but I could be wrong.

I opted for the Samsung Care Plan... haven't utilized yet. But as @NeonNights mentioned, the inner screen has no damages. I use the S-Pen as well.

I had one major drop... it was folded at the time. So, I do have some minor scuffs on the frames... but it's in fairly good condition. Since there is rumors that the tri-fold won't be releasing in the US... my eyes is set on the Fold 7, I have feeling we will get a price increase though.

Thank goodness I recently switched to a case with hinge protection. I clumsily dropped my Fold6 while riding my bike. The Nillkin S Pen hinge case did its job and took the brunt of the impact. Small corner of the case cracked at the hinge and broke off. Fortunately, the phone itself is undamaged.

Thank goodness indeed! I’m not a fan of cases… and I was kind of worried when it come time to trade-in the Fold 6 that I’d get rejected due to some minor scuffs on the frame, but supposedly users have mentioned that as long as the screen has no damages then I’m good.

Looks like a V3 but approx 2 years later! I get the impression the Fold 7 will come out then Honor will blow them out of the water later in the month with the V5.

I hope they bring out a Midnight colour for the fold, that would look so good in a satin / matte finish.

Apparently the Fold 7 Ultra isn't coming, it was just marketing hype.
As I stated in an earlier post… this wasn’t Samsung announcing another Fold line because from a business standpoint it doesn’t make sense.

The idea behind their tease was to inform the public that this time around they will get the “ultra” experience… bigger chassis and upgraded camera technology. Because these past releases Samsung has been settling while the competition has leap frog them (from a hardware perspective).

Baring any ridiculous price increase... I'd be upgrading. I was glad to see the Fold SE and 7 comparison... disappointed that there won't be a UDC, but at least S-Pen support is still there.

You have changed your mind?

Well, initially I wanted to wait on the tri-fold... but rumors have Samsung releasing only in China/Korea.

And as I stated before... it all depends on the trade-in value that will dictate what I do. I like my Fold 6, the narrow (outer) screen doesn't bother me much. And it's one of those situations, yeah... I could switch to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. But I'll be giving up all that comes with owning a Galaxy device (Good Lock and S-Pen).

So, I don't mind staying with the Fold 6... thats normally been my plan waiting every other year to upgrade (Fold 2, 4 and 6). But the Fold 7 is the biggest upgrade in the history of the Fold line and it's my favorite device.
