Still loving the Fold 7...but some things are hard to get used to coming from using slab phones all these years.
1) the split keyboard is hard for me to use
2) It is hard to open for me. It takes too much effort and kinda ruins the user experience for me.
3) Not all apps have been updated to use the bigger screen. There is a lot of wasted space.

Will continue to test and compare to my S25U to see which one I want to keep.
But battery life and camera are concerns for me.

By the way, I'm liking this phone more and more that I've gotten used to even to use the outer and inner screen. My only worry is battery life but I'm still in the first 24 hours.

Camera is ok but I also don't take pics like I used to. I did try to take a picture of a cardinal at 30 times zoom yesterday and it did not turn out well. The Ultra would have. But it's not like I'm doing that all the time. That's a very rare use case.
Yea the zoom is not a strong point. For most use cases the camera is going to be good enough. No phone in the US has a camera as versatile as the S25U. The 16PM, S25U, and 9PXL are the standard as far as getting a great picture every time but for a foldable this camera is really good. Right on par with my 9 Pro Fold which I had no real issues with. I'm not gettting rid of my S25U, 16PM or 9 Pro XL so I'll use one of those if needed but I think for most scenarios the ZF7 will be just fine.

I'm going to make my final decision on Monday. I'm going to use it over the weekend and just see how it fits in with my daily life for a couple days. I definitely do mess certain things about the ultra, but there are things that this device does that are really going to come in handy..
If you like versatility and a phone that can literally do anything, the Fold is the way to go. I love having an email or messaging app open on one side and photos or files open on the other and dragging a photo or file into a messaging app or email. Browsing reddit on one side while on macrumors on the other. Setting up app pairs in the edge screen or whatever its called to open up together on the big screen. Really wanting to try the photo editing trick they have been showcasing where you can see the original on one side and edited on the other.

But you have the option to use different keyboards (standard & floating)… you can adjust the split keyboard to a preference of your choice.

I seen other people discuss this… by it being thin, kind of difficult to get a grip on it. Maybe having a case could be a solution.

Yeah, but that’s always been the issue with tablets in general… Apple gets this from the iPad. Although, Android gets it worst. But most of the apps I use are tablet focused… sometimes people forget to enable Multi view in the Screen layout and zoom.

I like to decrease my Screen zoom all the way down and use Developer options to change the minimum width to assist with getting tablet apps.

I've been watching quite a few YT vids of folks that have moved from Apple to the Fold 7 and I can fully understand why

The Fold 7 is the Fold everyones been waiting for really...

The 16 Pro Max is a superb phone and an amazing camera; but now to have a Foldable that's thinner, lighter and does what it does, is just unbeatable...

Yea the grip and opening thing is taking some getting used to. Able to flip my 9PF right open. I went caseless on my ZF6 and 9PF for nearly the past year and both look immaculate but think I may need a case for this one to help with grip when opening. Such a shame to cover this beautiful device with a case. That said, I'll like having magsafe. Ordered the Torras 360 magnetic ring case and it should be here today.

I'm not all that concerned on battery to be honest. It did decent yesterday on the first full day. I had 3 hours SOT and was around 55%. Never let it get below that because I plugged it in when I got in the truck. I'll slap a magnetic Anker charger on it when I'm out and about for extended periods if needed. My biggest gripe so far is the damn camera bump. Can't lay it on a flat wireless charger and hit the sweet spot.

You can change the split keyboard setting:

I was just curious what pricing is like now, after the pre-order promos, and surprisingly not a huge jump. During the first few days after the Unpacked event, a 512GB (with free double-storage) was $950 after trade-in. Today, the same 512GB phone (without free double-storage), only went up to $1017.

Of course, the promos got better later on in the first week and I imagine we will see the return of similar discounts in the coming months. Enjoy your new Fold 7, everyone!

My battery life is much better today. That's a good sign. Wish it charged faster but having had an iPhone for years, I'm used to it and got a little spoiled by the Ultra.

@jamezr You're concerns are definitely valid. I noticed that using my thumbnail on my right hand really works to open it up easier. Also, totally get the fact that some apps are just stretched out. The ones where it does take full advantage are just glorious though!

I know I've mentioned my songbook pro app that I use on stage, and this is a game changer. I can literally have the whole song on the screen instead of relying it on it scrolling at the same speed I'm playing it. You wouldn't believe how many times I've quickly glanced at my phone for a lyric only to realize that my phone was scrolling too slow and the lyric wasn't on the screen yet.

I personally wouldn’t cover the entire device with a case only the back portion to have a MagSafe support on it.

Not a fan of the back-only case that Samsung and other brands have introduced. It seems aesthetically incomplete and cheapens the look of such a premium phone. The uneven edges would trigger my OCD-ness.

I like the idea of the hinge coverage with this one. Although I'm in the office most of the time, I own a construction business and visit my sites often. I have it out in dusty environments and throw it in my pocket alot. We will see how it feels. I prefer naked but I'm gonna give the case a try. I like the thought of having the magnetic pop out ring on the back for my flight to Mexico next week. Pop it up on the tray and watch a movie or do some work if I'm not too busy drinking mimosas and wine with the wife 😄

Same with the Flip, the hinge is very strong which I love. But I can't open it with one hand / wrist flick without it flying out of my hand. I need to take Flipology 101 from Floss 😂

I use the Spigen Aramid case with the Spigen Magsafe ring attached to it; I've shovel like hands and thick fingers and have no issues opening the Fold 7 at all.

I've got the UAG Mouve case landing with me tomorrow; want to see how that is for a rugged case as I'm not won over by the Spigen Slim Armor Pro case this time around; feels a bit too slick in the hands

And the keyboard is easy to sort as already mentioned; I use Swiftkey for the keyboard and it's brilliantly customisable and super-slick IMO - worth having a look at the app and having a go with it

But I don’t care to add any bulk to a device… that already has some level of bulkiness to it. And I’m not really a fan of cases, but I do like having MagSafe support.

I was planning on doing a dBrand skin while attaching a MagSafe ring adhesive sticker on it, but those carbon fiber/aramid fibre thin cases come with MagSafe support… so I went with that instead.
