I understand the desire to protect such an expensive device but having to put a case like that on simply ruins all the benefits of such a lightweight, thin, beautiful device. I decided a couple years ago now I’m using all my devices the way the manufacturer built em whenever possible.

I paid for the extra warranty from Google for my Pixel 9 Pro Fold specifically for this very reason—no case lifestyle. Yeah, financially it may not be the smartest move but knowing I have accidental ‘oops’ moments covered. What aggravates me is that I still have to periodically use a relatively thin case to add ‘MagSafe’ to it so I can mount it in my car and charger it on any of my MagSafe wireless chargers.

I’m not buying my next Android foldable until the manufacturer put the damn magnets inside the phone.

Alright, sorry for the rant. Back to the Fold 7 programming.
I totally get it and it does feel lightweight and slim without a case but the reality is I can never get through my daily life treating the phone the same way as with the case without it being in for repair LOL I also have the insurance on the phone but it's more about comfort with it not sliding in my hands in the case of this phone opening and closing it and as you mentioned magsafe. This case is definitely lighter than it looks on these photos and once I get the aramid case it will be closest to no case. I also daily carry two phones with me.

Same here. In fact, I'm going to order the official silicone case just for moments like the beach or sporting event, just where there's extra risk of dropping it.

I don't have one like that but that looks really nice. I just have the regular small stands.

Yeah I'm thinking that would be great at my desk. My biggest annoyance last Friday was that I was constantly opening and closing it to throw it back on my stand. This would allow me to keep it open more because that's how I prefer to use it.

I bought a couple of these a long time ago I use them for all my phones and I actually keep my fold open on it.

Just received OneUI 8 on my Galaxy Watch Ultra so hopefully Fold 6 gets it soon too...then we can truly compare battery life against the Fold 7.
I don’t know what to think anymore… Samsung allowed Watch Ultra users to enter One Ui 8 beta, but only T-Mobile cellular activated users were able to take advantage of it.

And then released official One UI 8 for Galaxy Watch with no news in advance… I don’t even think there was a 2nd beta, it was just weird. Supposedly, there’s going to be a 4th beta for the S25 series… normally when they finish one series they move on to the next.

Would be nice if they push the beta to all their devices, but we probably get the beta next month… that’s if Samsung decide to give it to S24 series users next. And come to think of it… Samsung must have one group to test devices, not have enough resources to do them simultaneously.

Yup, keeping it open is always the best option! Especially if you are stationary for an extended period of time… I found my stand with the HoverBar Duo that I plan on keeping until forever (or until I have to replace it with the same one lol).

And I use this adapter to charge my Fold… so it would have a clean set up, can move my stand in a variety of directions to interact with the Fold never have to hold it.

I have this for my Fold 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra (it also charges my EarFun earphones too without any issues)

Magsafe is very strong; I've Bluetac'd it to my desk otherwise it all comes up at once 😂

So as you've all been asking, I changed my sim back to this yesterday, so I'm running about 24 hours. Definitely a much better experience. The biggest challenge for me when I first got it is that it actually seemed annoying and I found myself opening and closing it too often and having a hard time settling on a process, but I think I'm figuring out when to just keep it open and when it's ok to use it shut. One cool thing is that it's so light that even when it's open, I can use it one handed if needed to.

Battery life was decent. Maybe slightly worse than the S25 Ultra, but I wasn't that happy with my battery on the Ultra either. Hoping next year they add faster charging, that would be huge.

I think the only thing I'm still struggling with a little bit is the camera. I noticed that S25 Ultra does a better job with moving objects, so the Fold struggled a bit with my 6 week old. I still need to play around with some of the settings though to get a quicker shutter, so still testing it out. I was at a Sunflower Festival on Sunday morning though and it took incredible pictures. So it's a mixed bag. I take a lot less photos than I used to. I try to live the moment I'm in instead of always living it behind a camera, so as long as I can figure out the blur part, then we're good.

The other thing that I didn't like when I first got it was the no Anti Reflective screen. I'm going to buy the Samsung Silicone case that I believe comes with 2 of those screen covers. I'll try that out. Not a deal breaker but you don't even realize how good the S25 Ultra screen is until you don't have it anymore.

Going to try to keep rolling with this phone. I'm starting to "get it" now and actually find use cases for that bigger screen that actually really come in handy. I think I jumped the gun with my frustrations a bit early last Friday.

I did download that and did click on Quick Tap Shutter. It still hasn't been great, but I also realize that my 6 week old will not stop moving her arms and legs ever, so even the best cameras could struggle with that scenario, especially when indoors.

God bless the little one I think most like the Pixel phones for moving subjects and you are correct most phones will struggle

Yeah, I think having that return fee being charged so soon rubbed you the wrong way... prematurely decided to pack it up and be done with it.

Yeah the whole experience with the preorder was a bit crazy, both self induced and Samsung not having a very fluid system set up. That kind of tarnished the excitement, but I can definitely see myself becoming a foldable guy and never going back. We'll see!

Wait till football starts. Its a game changer for fantasy football nerds. You will love the bigger screen and multitasking capabilities. Congrats on the six week old and your newfound lack of sleep. ;) Enjoy it, it goes fast. Mine are 12 and 15 now and I really miss that stage at times.

I miss the anti reflective screen of the S25U also but this screen is really good both inside and out. The inside screen, the crease is much improved. If Samsung would use an anti reflective inner screen film on the screen like OnePlus did with the Open, the crease would almost not be noticeable.

Well that's been short-lived 🤬

Had to factory reset my Fold 7 today so I could set up the secure work folder for some contract work I've agreed to take on and need access to some of their apps via their secure VPN

Reset; got it started up; started to restore from back up once I'd set the work folder up etc and then it froze... And stayed frozen..

Forced restarted it; it did exactly the same

Did that again but this time without the work folder settings; it then bricked itself. So it goes back to Amazon UK tomorrow

Spoke to Samsung support; apparently the guy who I spoke with said it's not the first call he's had re similar issues, but as I'd bought it via Amazon and it's still within its 30 days returns, I'm doing just that tomorrow - it's boxed and ready to go back

I've set it all up on my S24U without any issues at all; so no idea what the Fold 7 has done to itself...

I miss bakelite phones, corded phones and Nokia bricks 😂

Yes, I really look forward to having Yahoo Fantasy and Yahoo Sports up at the same time, haha! My wife is going to murder me.

Oh wow that's bad and sorry you have to go with the return but better to find out now than later my friend.
