Seems as if my Fold is one of those that doesn't fully open flat. It's not as extreme as the examples out there I've seen, but it is noticeable. It goes flat if I bend it back slightly after opening. I have no idea how to measure the angle of opening / whether it is actually a defect. Apparently it is an adhesive issue? Why is it always the glue 🤣. All the way back to the iPhone 5, the yellow screens were allegedly caused by glue issues.

See that is where I am at...I WANT to use it folded most of the time. It should provide the same user experience as my S25U. Then unfolded have a tablet like experience. But I cannot use the Fold 7 unfolded as the display is still too narrow for me. Then a lot of apps don't scale when unfolded.
For me and my use cases and work flows....the S25U provides a better user experience.
But man...the Fold 7 is a great phone....This is the best foldable Samsung has ever put out by far. I have nothing negative to say about it....
Actually, one other point you brought up, there are very few apps that are actually built for a Foldable. The rest are just bigger versions of them, which is fine, but I actually expected there to be a bit more than what we got. I know that's a developer issue, not Samsung's fault.

I’m curious what apps are y’all seeing that are not tablet optimized?

Actually, there are very few Android/ Google Play apps that are not compatible-optimized for tablet use. A very few may not go into tablet landscape mode.

I can’t wait for the day that the Fold camera system matches the Ultra camera system. I am keeping both the S25 Ultra and Fold 7 where the Ultra will be my phone for trips and events and the Fold for all other days. If I do need zoom then I’ll carry my Sony rx100m7. It’s worked for concerts and sporting events when I am not carrying my Ultra. I love the Fold’s size and I am happy with the main camera sensor.

I think I heard that none of them really fold 100% of the way.

Don't think we will ever see cameras matching slab phones in camera hardware

So I'm going on a vacation that will involve a beach for the next 5 days. Curious what you seasoned Fold users do for protection. I was thinking of just keeping the phone in the beach bag and not using it at all while on the beach, or maybe just use my Supcase since it has hinge protection. Thoughts?

When I had older fold models I didn’t care where I used them really, I ran it naked with insurance and used it like any other phone.

My thoughts exactly. I think it’s one of those trade-offs these OEMs are making in an effort to keep foldables at a reasonable price.

It’s always going to be the case that users will get the best camera technology in a slab over a foldable… I don’t see that ever changing. But I do like that more innovation is going to be in a foldable over a slab from hinge design to inner display technology, however... the ZF7 is nearly peak design. Once Samsung fully eliminate the crease and add a UDC that doesn't sacrifice photo/video quality... then I don't see anything else to improve other than focusing on software (or AI).

It's not too pratical for most people, that's the problem with android and alot of it's innovation it's just hype and people trying to figure out a way to attract customers. A big folding slab probably isn't going to be that easy on the fly when a person is on the go, alot of these phones are created for people who are sitting and just playing with their phones all day.

A big reason Iphone is so popular it's a simple device that's good for most people to accomidate their real life.
Many professionals see a use case for these. I hardly have time to play with anything. It's a productivity powerhouse if you have the workflow to take advantage of it. Between looking at construction drawings, editing PDFs, spreadsheets, looking at photos from my job sites or even family stuff, editing said photos, the occasional YouTube video, watching sports in one half while having my browser or email open in the other half. There's a reason Apple is making one now. They see the use case and the growing popularity among foldables.

Yep and this is really where my mind is at. If I'm using it folded 70-80% of the time, I might as well keep my Ultra.
I am there with you. I use it folded probably 70 percent of the time. But I like having the bigger screen when I do need it. Not everyone will "need" it. But I do. And now that the Fold is so slim and has an excellent outer screen I can honestly see myself with both my work sim and personal sim on this device and keep it with me all the time and get rid of some phones 😂

Camera isn't the best but I'll probably always keep an iPhone or S25U or comparable phone as a backup. But I will say they made a considerable improvement with this camera. I'm not hobby or professional photographer so it suits most of my needs just fine.

I think mine is very noticeable to the naked eye. Regardless, returning it to Samsung as Best Buy has the free storage upgrade to 512gb plus $100 gift card promo again. New one is better.

*Edit- chatted with Samsung and sent them the photo and they quickly accepted the return request without restock fee.

Unless you're sticking it in the sand it shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you take a magnify glass to the hinges there are tiny rubber gasket which protects them from dust, they're not 100% effective I am guessing.

I did notice that none doesn't close all the way, but then if I mildly force the last 5% it closes with ease.

For sure. That big screen is really tough to let go of after you use it for a bit!

Honestly the camera is very good for what I need it for. Probably not the best in more light but still very good. Can't say enough how much I love this device. Now back to getting drunk and making bad decisions

Enjoy the vacation time and some decision making LOL, I agree cameras perfect for my usage I'm by no means looking for anything extra as long as I can keep some of the memories or see some of the memories I missed LMAO
