Error that says video no longer available?

Sorry, I took it down because an artist heard it and wants it. So now I have to email me all tracks separately so I can mix it in Logic/ProTools

I hope they come with an update soon where I can bounce individual tracks to MobileMe in one shot. Saving time.

has anyone been able to successfully play the guitar on GB like you would a real guitar? I am curious as I am going to try and learn part of Van Halens song "aint talking bout love" just the first minute or so of the guitar part.

OK... it's actually a few arpeggiated chords. You need Emin, Amin, F, G, C - so the default 'C major' setting will cover it. 6th string is biggest, 1st string smallest.

Chord - String
Amin - 5, 4, 2, 3, 1
F - 1, 2, 3
G - 1, 2, 3
C - 5
Emin- 5
C - 5

There's a problem with the G chord on the 2nd string... should be fret 3, but they're paying it as fret 0 which doesn't sound quite right.

Also, the Amin on the acoustic guitar is voiced right for this... but the high 'E' note seems an octave up on the electric guitar settings (very odd!)

I tried it with the regular fretboard too and found it a bit easier (I can play the guitar), but playing fret-zero stuff is a PITA.

Personally, I'd just get the Apogee Jam and plug a real guitar in!

Quitting app?

What's with the read bar at the top of the screen when you quit the app? It says Garageband is still recording. Is it still running in the background? Do I need to close it somehow?

Anyone else notice when you are playing something, let's say the smart guitar for example, and you go too fast, it'll sound fine but once you play it back it will just be a pluck not the whole note. Anyway to fix this?

This is getting more exciting now. Blue Yeti USB mic works with Garageband for voice tracks (need a usb hub) :D

Not sure, but audio appears to be muted on some occasions

How do you have your Blue Yetti hooked up to the iPad in garageband? I have a iPad 2, i tried using the USB adapter that you get when you buy that dongle for imported your cameras pics and it says the USB device requires to much power and is not supported.

Are you running a 3.5 from the headphone out on the yetti to the 3.5 on the iPad?

Yeah, it's surprisingly playable. Ideal? Hell no. Lots of fun to noodle around with though. Wish you could use the whole fretboard. I fully intend to be the Yngwie of iPad guitar.

I do like the string bend - it's pretty neat. You can even bend open strings.

Two things for the wish-list:

If the fretboard was at the top of the screen, you could maybe reach your fingers to use proper guitar fingering.
I wish there was some sort of palm muting on the rock guitar!

I'm thinking of hooking it upntona mixer to record line in at a convention for 6 hrs or so. Can the iPad 2 handle it?

I've used a Belkin powered USB hub in between camera connector and blue yeti. You don't have to power the Hub, I think it will absorb the initial power surge from Blue Yeti.

When you load voice recorder and hook up the mic, the status will change as below

Has anyone been able to get a garageband file created on the mac or ipad to work on the other device?

Additionally it appears that there is no way to add an audio file, (mp3, aac, aiff, wav) to a project in garageband for ipad?

Got my Roland eDrums working perfectly with GB.
-> Drum -> Roland drum "brain" - > MIDI-USB cable -> Camera Connection Kit

No lag at all, unlike in the Korg iMS-20 app
(I'm working with the original iPad)

Hey guys I just got GarageBand for the iPad 2 and I am loving it.

I am a musician and I usually use logic pro 9 on my iMac i7.

Having GarageBand on the iPad is an amazing mobile tool for all musicians.
I love the new touch instruments.
Whenever I get a new guitar I always give it the "Enter Sandman" test.

So I loaded up the ipad garageband electric hard rock guitar and learned how to play Mettalica's "Enter Sandman" where you can find on my YouTube page here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH2WsVHY0rY&feature=channel_video_title

These touch instruments are very powerful if you take the time to learn them.

I plan on releasing a lot of videos and tutorials showing all the cool and even advanced features of GarageBand for iPad.
Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel if interested.

I'm a beginning guitarist and just getting a chance to play around with Garageband a little bit. A question though...

I've been able to plug the iPad into my Audio Engine powered speakers using the mini RCA plug and the Garageband app sounds great. But I do have a guitar amp...a small Roland...can I hook up my iPad to the amp? How?

Thanks...

You're going to want to get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter (they're around $2 at Radio Shack and a ton of other places). Plug your guitar cable into the adapter, then put the adapter into the iPad's headphone jack.

Run that guitar cable to your amp's Line In, if it has it. Line In jacks usually bypass the amplifier's pre-amp, removing a lot of tone coloring. Since you're using the amp models in GarageBand, you want the raw signal going from the iPad to the power amp section of your amp - so that essentially it just makes it loud. ;)

If your amp doesn't have a line in, or CD In, just stick it in the input and set the EQ flat and you'll still have decent results.

^^ Actually, if you've got a Roland cube, you need an 1/8inch to 1/8 inch (6.25mm) stereo lead. Just plug into the Aux in on the back.

That/s more reliable than trying to go from a 1/8inch stereo to a 1/4inch mono.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had an adapter somewhere...after a long search...I came up with a 1/8" to 1/4". So I need to make a trip to Radio Shack. Couldn't find a Line In on my Roland AC-90 but I better check my manual. I haven't had much time to fiddle around with my setup...but I want to get back into it.

Garageband sounds great to me...but through the amp would be awesome...

Again...thanks for your help...

Actually, your amp is a full range one - since it's an acoustic amp not an electric guitar amp. The lead you need to plug your iPad in is an 1/8inch to 2xRCA. You can get these at any electrical store or Apple store. Like this:

Right on...got one of those! Got it working...sounds sweet. I'm starting to sound like Jimi Hendrix.

Thanks...

Hi everybody!

I think I'm having a GarageBand trouble with my iPad 1, 64 Gb, 3G, no jb...

I want to record my voice to make a podcast.

I use Logitech headset (USB, with the microphone: I use it for voip, too).

When I plug the headset, the arrow chance from the yellow one in the jack to the green one in the USB, I record a voice track, but when I play the track I hear a huge amount of noise (in addition to my voice).

Sometimes I hear a second voice of mine in addition to the original, as like as it records my voice twice at the same time.

I believe it records from the USB and the jack, too.

How can I fix it?

Where the issue is?
In GarageBand, or in the Logitech headset (will I have to buy something different?

Which alternative microphone (I'd like to use it with my iPhone, too) (or apps to make podcast) do you suggest?

Anyone tried the iRig Mic?

I'm worried because this problem is blocking my work!!!

TNX!!!
