Has anyone tried doing this in 2.2.1? I know if you already had emoji enabled before, they still work, but I just downloaded the app now (I've already updated to 2.2.1) and I get this error every time I open the app:

I got it working even with that error, just keep going between the two options on the bottom menu and from the second tab just go into 5 or 6 articles, then the Emoji option became available for me. I did have to load the app about 3 times but now it's there and was still there when I upgraded to 2.2.1 about 5 mins later!

I have 2.2.1 and I am trying to unlock the Emjoi with the app now, using 2.2.1. The app tries to load an article list, but I get the error message posted above. I've spent like 5 min in the app, and loaded it like 6 different times. And Emoji still doesn't show up- I'll try restarting my phone.
It seems like when unlocked in 2.2 it remains unlocked in 2.2.1 but can't be initially unlocked in 2.2.1.
Just from my current experience...
It seems the Frostyplace website has collapsed from visitors refreshing the RSS again and again to get their Emojis. I tried post them a bug report and their site won't load at all. Google frostyplace to see what I mean.
I don't think they know whats hit em!
Hopefully they'll get the site back up and running.

Hopefully this is the case, maybe you need to load articles full of Japanese characters for it to unlock, and until their server is up with articles that can't happen.

Couldn't get the articles to show up on 2.2.1, then tried it on my wife's iPhone (2.2) and they loaded and the emoji keyboard worked. Went back to mine and kept trying to load frostyplace exhaustively, emoji keyboard is still not loading. So, I believe it is a 2.2.1 lock thing. Not sure why, hopefully their can be a fix
Damn! Thanks for confirming it. How hard is it to downgrade to 2.2? I didn't hear about this until I was already updating to 2.2.1.

The keyboard doesn't just "show up," you have to enable it in Settings.
You know this, right?
Frostyplace app just keeps locking up in 2.2.1.. nothing shows up in rss and if you go to the second page clicking on anything causes it to freeze.

I went to get the app, but thought, oh, I'll update first. Oh well! I've heard people talk about downgrading firmwares, any ideas.
Wow, what a dick move by Apple. I really have nothing to complaint about because I already enabled my Emoji, but wtf. These are just friggin cartoons! What would Apple be so quick to snatch these away from their own paying customers? They're acting like these are some kind of national security risk or something? Why can't people just have some good, clean fun?
