Off topic. Does anyone know a good reliable way to ship iPhone to mainland China? I’m not talking scout bulk quality, just one or two at the most. I’ve heard the custom there randomly check parcels and if you don’t declare then it will get confiscated, but if u declare then you gotta pay tariff.

Go contribute to society rather than making money off of others work. And let people who really want and deserve the phone get it at retail price.
So, you get paid by your employer how again? Pretty sure buying and selling based on supply and demand is how your salary is paid. Maybe YOU aren't doing the buying/selling, but, someone in your company is. If you're a public sector employee, someone is doing it and paying taxes based on their buying/selling.

People who are reselling the phones ARE contributing to society. You're just upset that you can't/won't do it yourself.

That's absurd you think they are contributing. They are taking money off the top of something they played no part in creating. And I promise you none of that money is reported or taxed.

And I don't see the relationship between an honest professional vs a scalper. I don't charge my customers on top of what my company already charges. Our customers pay the price set in place by my company and I get paid for doing honest work. Should I invite you to come and arbitrarily ask for more money from my customers for doing nothing?

Your company gets a wholesale price and in return your company charges it’s customers what ever it feels like it to make a profit. It’s called “capitalism”.

Your hands aren’t as clean as you think they are. So get of your white horse, you are a capitalist as the rest of us not matter how you slice it.

My companies business has nothing to with wholesale prices.

My hands are very clean and I'm high up on my shiny white horse.

If I got anyone upset, you need to relax. It is just an idea. I have a full-time career with health and benefits. Beer money here and there never hurts (I've done this with console releases that were in short supply).

Besides, I am toying with the idea of keeping it if I get one sooner than later. However, I have been slowly migrating my app usage from apple to google and am not restricted to apple's eco-system anymore. I've been with apple since 2009 with MacBooks and iPhones. They have served me well and the customer service is top notch. With other companies catching up and surpassing apple is design, it's hard to justify staying with apple.

No, they're not. They are EXTRACTING wealth FROM society, profiting off of other people's achievements.

Extracting wealth??? What do you think the sellers are going to do with the profits? Burn it in the fireplace?

I'm willing to bet they SPEND THAT MONEY at places that employ others.... I know, crazy, right?

Bank robbers generally spend that money at such places, too.

I’ve upgraded with the pre orders for the past few years. Its fun to pre order at the first few minutes and look forward to watching tracking etc. I WAS looking forward to the X but after reading all the posts in the last couple weeks, I’m not even going to try and pre order. With as many people who I’m guessing are planning to do it, the availability is going to be even worse at first. Thanks a lot. I know no one cares if I get one or not, but just saying it’s sad to me that people are so anxious to make it harder for everyone else, just to make a buck. Actually now I might just skip this release totally. I’m in no mood to order and start looking forward to the new phone, just to sit here while people get them who don’t even want them for anything but to jack up the price. Not my idea of fun.
So all you out there looking forward to the fun of profiting.. enjoy yourself. I’m out.

IF (and that's a big if), the supply is extremely low as predicted by "sources", would anyone who ends up lucky enough to snag one before the holiday season try to sell it for a small profit?

I am not blown away by the X, but am impressed. I was thinking if can sell it to make a few hundred (or double my money which would be nice). Also, I am toying with the idea of getting an s8+ because I am bored with iOS and am looking for something new. However, if the iPhone X is as nice in person as the videos make it to be, then maybe I will just keep it.

Don't bother commenting to berate me on the idea on how its "morally wrong". I could care less and if I can profit well enough from this then you bet your ass I will sell it.

Screwing people over is never right. But the issue you present is a conundrum. The very people who might pony up the dough for your phone might also be screwing other people over in myriad ways. Moral of the story? Everyone potentially sucks. Welcome to earth 🙂

What do u feel is the best way to get to sell.
Maybe if u buy straight out from Apple but will it be able to be used ON any carrier ? CDMA and GSM.
Time u pay for phone and taxes and if u ask on eBay pay them a final value fee. I wonder how much u can mark up a 1000 phone. Hmmm

Leave it for somebody who really wants it!

Umm, who exactly do you think buys an iPhone for 2X the retail price from a scalper? Someone who doesn't really want it?

So you're answering your own question. Case closed. /thread.

Beer money here and there never hurts (I've done this with console releases that were in short supply). To the people complaining that I am taking away a phone that someone really wants: Go to your safe space until you feel better.

I really don't think your scenario is all that bad. You're talking about purchasing one iPhone with your own funds, and if you don't appreciate it, you plan on selling it. I don't have an issue with that and I don't necessarily think you're the traditional scalper either. I would say most scalpers, they try to purchase multiple units from various stores or what have you, then charge exorbitant prices online for a living or at least to make some profit.

Bottom line is, you own the product and you can do what you want with it. But as you said from the beginning, you may keep it or you may not, depends if you like it or not. So at least you're making a fair evaluation based on the product itself and not your ultimate goal, is to turn around and immediately sell it.

Don’t you need to enter your phone provider information at time of order, so they can pre-setup the phone to your current account/number? How would that even work for scalping? They aren’t offering the sim-free version at launch.

You scalping your customers as well. That’s how you are able to make money and your company stays in business.

Your hands aren’t clean.

No, they're not. They are EXTRACTING wealth FROM society, profiting off of other people's achievements.

You know the food that you buy from your local grocery store. That store makes money from other people’s achievements as well. Duhh..

I would never do this but personally don't have an issue with others doing it, and here is why; I feel that the person paying 2k-3k for a phone that will be available for a fraction of that price if they wait a bit, is just as much to blame.... If there isn't an idiot out there willing to pay that much then there wouldn't be someone trying to take advantage of it and profit. So while I wouldnt do it, I understand why someone would and will not sit here and criticize. I will certainly not be paying a penny over retail so it doesnt affect me in the least bit. And if they sell out and I cant get one on launch date, then I'll wait until its available, I'm not going to lose it over a phone.

That’s a little different there buddy. You are buying a product that someone legitimately wants and selling it to make money yourself. You are taking a product from someone else just to price gouge the hell out of it. It’s just wrong. Let the people who want the phone to use it buy it instead of taking up supply so you can reach a personal gain.
Cool story, I guess I’m going to buy YOUR iPhone X and sell it for dark web goodies. How bow dah?
