I love my iPad Air

I have an iPad Air and I love it. It's super light-weight, so it's easy to take it everyday to university ;) I never had an iPad before this iPad (I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab but I didn't used it a lot). And the 4G of the iPad Air is super-fast (only the newest iPad models can connect to 4G in Russia where I live). The only thing that is bad is the iPad can fast reboot occassionally in Safari. I think it's because of some lags in iOS 7.0.4 ;-) All other things in the iPad Air are excellent ;) :apple:

Anyone think it's worth it go from iPad 2 to air?

I just did, and - if you have the money for it - definitely! The Retina screen isn't the biggest improvement for me (though I'm sure it'll be very hard if I ever have to use the iPad 2 again). The biggest difference is the speed. The Air is so much faster at browsing / loading email.

Plus, it's noticeably smaller and lighter. I do find the narrow bezel a tiny bit more awkward to hold, but that's about the only negative I can think of.

Youre better off.

I sold my iPad 3 prior to announcement. Then wished I hadn't, but too late.

There's really nothing it does over the iPad. And it still has the same poor laggy performance.

We are in the same boat, but I had the 2.

The next time around, I am going to wait for GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)
to pass;)

I originally purchased the Air, and then the rMini. Decided to let the Air go because at that time the Air was just collecting dust because of my preference to the rMini.

However, a week later I decided that certain tasks are better suited to a larger screen and my hunt for a 9.7 inch was on. This time I ended up purchasing the iPad 4 because in all honesty I don't play intense games or anything that would tax the current hardware in the Air. Based on my research I would say I'm in the minority when I say I much prefer the build quality of previous generation iPads. When holding it I feel that I'm holding a premium product, opposed to the Air, which I'm totally aware of the sacrifices that had to be made to get it to size they achieved.

I'm not a Air hater, like I said I owned it for about a week and loved it!!! In my case my decision was based on having a updated iPad with superior specs, or save some money and purchase the device I much more prefer the build quality and can do just about everything the Air can do. Even with the 40% - 80% bump from benchmarks all over the net....in most user cases the benefits won't be seen.

Did you have any display issues with your RMini?

Is that an iPad 2 on iOS 7 compared to the Air on 7? The difference between an iPad 2 running 6.x and an Air/7 isn't as dramatic, IMO.

I'll stick with my 3 until something great comes out. Apple has a good way of announcing "new" models of something when it is simply a small upgrade.

I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS7 shortly before I bought the Air, so can compare both. I never really found the iPad 2 that slow, nor did I think it got slower then I upgraded to iOS 7.

But for me, web browsing in particular is ridiculously fast on the Air. I do have a good router (an N750) and a decent broadband connection (100Mbps). Lots of times I click a link and there's no appreciable load time, the new page just flashes up.

I did some speeds tests on both too, and while the iPad 2 was typically getting download speeds of ~35Mbps, the Air gets 70+Mbps. For me, there's no comparison between the two.

I agree with you, I had my Air for 2 months before going back to an iPad 4.

I also loved the Air overall, it was just the plastic feel and noise from the screen and the infuriating Safari crashes that forced me to return it and buy another 4. I liked the look and finish (other than the screen "plastic" glass).

I'm no gamer at all so I have seen no difference in performance in my use.

Plastic feel and noise from iPad air screen ???
What are you speaking about ???

Now you have a heavy hot ipad. Been there.

I sell my iPad for 3/4 of the price I bought it and use some extra cash to get the latest iPad, no regrets at all.
Been doing this ever since the second iPad release.

Waiting on 7.1 AND a price drop and I don't think it unreasonable that there will be a fairly good one in the near future.

When air came out, I was going to sell my 3 and get one. I was all caught up in the hype.

Then, I had trouble selling it to people I knew, and as time went by, I forgot all about it. The ipad 3 is fine for now. I don't notice its weight at all. And the setup at the apple store is horrible - they attach the Air to those security things (which of course I understand), but it really gives you a false sense of the device's weight. (It feels heavy in the store because of it)

Another reason for waiting is to wait for more ram as 1 isn't cutting it these days. I am not unhappy with the 3 at all and I am glad I am waiting. Just got $350 for the 3 on eBay not too bad.

Are YOU glad you didn't get an air?
I went from a 3 to a air, but I'm glad I did.

Wife and I had an iPad 2 and rarely used it. Target was running a trade-in promotion just before Thanksgiving - $200 trade-in plus a gift card - so we went to look. I wanted an Air, wife wanted a Mini. Kept telling her to keep an open mind until we could see and hold them. Had every intention of talking (nagging?) her into the Air. But the Mini ended up being so perfect. I tell her next to marrying me she's never been more right about anything in her life. I went out the next day and bought a second one so we could each have our own and now we use them all the time. I have no doubt if we had bought the Air (and had to share it) that we would have used it just as infrequently as our old iPad. It's funny how such a small difference in size can make it so much more usable.

So yeah, I'm glad we didn't end up buying an Air.

It's a preference thing and each individual needs to decide what's more suitable for them. I received my rMini yesterday from Best Buy and as of now I prefer the full size iPad. The Mini is nice but I gravitate towards a larger screen and the weight of my iPad 2 and iPad 3 is not an issue for me.

In August I bought a new Macbook Air. Config was i5/8/512. It was a dud as the battery failed within two weeks. Apple sent a replacement from China and the new one is no hassle.

In Oct I bought an iPad Air to replace my old first generation iPad. Snapped it up with Target's offer of 200 bucks trade-in. Works like a charm but local Target inventory was for only 16gig memory. Not enough, only BIG regret.

In Nov bought the new iPad Mini retina. Got a 32gig memory. Sweet spot! Of all three purchases my favorite Apple product of the year is the iPad Mini! A great, really great machine. The 'Goldilocks' choice of my once every four year Apple buying sprees.

Oh....and final disjointed comment is I did NOT get the cell versions of either iPad. Instead opted to modify my AT&T account to get 'Personal Hotspot' capability that works with both iPads via my iPhone 4s. Flawless connects but lousy internet speed of about 1.6mbs download speed. Works though.
