Actually, in DC they take those huge gobs of money and give them to powerful politicians to build expensive monoliths in their home states that serve only as attempted bribes to get said politicians re-elected. You know, bridges to nowhere - that sort of thing.

But technically you're correct - those expensive money-wasting "monuments" aren't located in DC.
 
lol i can't believe some of you are so appalled by the store. so what if they made a big glass cylinder? i don't think it's affecting you in any way, it's VERY nice.

to each his own i guess...

Since when did beautiful mean original? Something can be unoriginal but still nice.

For a guy who opposes porn, Jobs sure does please the "up skirt" guys with those glass stare wells.
 
Looks spectacular. The opening is well timed with the Shanghai World Exposition in full flight.

I'm curious if Apple manages that whole square. Do they provide free wapi wifi? 802.11n? Both?
 
Make sure you don't touch the very edge of the tower with the tip of your finger. It's been shown to shorten the tower and not allow people to get in the front door on rare occasions. :D

You'd be surprised how well a good product does that all by itself.
 
Waste of space?
Excessive?

Sure if you think an underground with a fairly minimal glass entrance is excessive and a waste of space. Just like the NYC store, they have managed to put a store in a great location, with great visibility and an iconic entrance. But they also managed to do so while maintaining an otherwise low profile. Quite ingenious. But they do that all the time already.

You're in college and don't know the difference between effect and affect?
Simple is Apple's thing. If you don't like it don't bother with it.
