GM safe for non-developers?

Have been using it since yesterday on my iPad and iPhone 4. It has solved all the bugs that I noted in beta 7. I'm so pleased with it now.
 
no bugs yet so far... the music app is my only complaint... with some songs that worked pre beta 4 crash the music app. i just deleted those songs off my iphone as a work around :confused:

Once you restore and you want all of your old data back, do you just do restore from backup after finished upgrading to iOS 5?
 
so i take a picture on my phone, isnt it spose to synch with my mac wirelessly? where do I find the picture?

Photo Stream is not yet active. It requires an updated version of iPhoto 11 which will probably be released with iCloud & iOS 5 on October 12th

Do I need to update to the GM or can I go straight from the latest beta to the official release Wednesday??? If so how? Thanks.
 
I'm getting so pissed. When I try to download something through the App Store with IOS 5, it keeps saying wrong password or Apple ID. I reset the password and tried again, and it keeps saying the same thing over and over. I am able to log into my Apple ID via the net, but I can't log into the App Store on my phone or iTunes on my Mac. Do I need to wait until Tuesday?

Lion 10.7.2 is telling me the same - will i have to pay the £10.99 charge in the Mac App Store to use Photo Stream?

I'm having the same issue with two apps that restore purchases through the itunes store account. I can use the appstore though.

Same here. No locations option in reminders.

Also, I'm not able to put Newsstand in a folder and the camera isn't available from the unlock screen.

Anyone else experiencing this? In on a 3GS

I was able to get this fixed by not syncing reminders with my exchange account (I have not synced them with iCloud yet).
 
I installed the beta (1st tried 9 then 7) and as soon as I connect my iPhone, iTunes freezes.
Am I doing something wrong?
 
My iPad works fine connected to iTunes, but my iPhone still makes it freeze.
 
I'm about to try it out as we speak.. Downloaded and installed the latest iTunes 10.5 beta for Windows.. Downloaded the DMG file and waiting for the extraction process to complete for the IPSW.
 
Is it really just as simple as:

Download iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or 9 & the iOS 5 GM
Plug in the phone to do a back up
Select the file to restore to
Once finished updating, if you wanting old data, restore from backup
...and your all set??

Is backing up the itunes library necessary?
Do you just leave iTunes as 10.5 beta 7 or 9 till the official release comes out?

Sorry for the redundant questions but I see few different instructions and recommendations and I want to try and prevent any issues...

Oh and it's for a mac not windows..

this is exactly what I did today...only thing was I had to put all my apps into proper folders again

also, contacts didn't sync from my mac or icloud...got it finally working though

iOS 5 GM has been outstanding all day and my home button works better than ever again :D

Thanks for the info!

How did u fix the contacts issue? Putting apps into folders is the biggest pain...wish it remembered that from the backup.

I checked "sync contacts" in iTunes and it told me iCloud does this for you, so I went to settings on phone, contacts on > off > on and all synced once I checked it off in iTunes again

Running snow leopard too

So I just upgraded to ios5 on my Verizon iPhone 4. Everything seems to be working great, but I am very sad to see that siri is actually only for iPhone 4S :(. Anyone know if this will be coming to the iPhone 4 at any point?

Also, my main question is once iOS 5 officially releases, will I need to upgrade to that version, or is mine already legitimate? Also, I installed Itunes beta 7 to install iOS5, so I assume this will need to be updated at some point as well?

Talking to Siri is a privilege for 4S users only

it's partly to do with the phone's power, and partly to do with Apple needing a differentiator

Anyone else getting lower battery life?

11 minutes usage
10 hours 38 minute standby
80% remaining.


I used to get 99-100% remaining after 10 hours standby. (leaving it overnight)
