I'm just going on record saying I'd be very surprised if Apple releases a gold plated watch. If you think this, I'd say you don't understand why people would buy the Edition -- a limited supply of an 18kt solid gold watch with custom designed bands and 18kt solid gold hardware.
Apple is not going to leave money on the table for people who want a nicer-looking gold watch than the Sport, who will otherwise not wear silver jewelry or accessories. Platinum jewelry is also quite popular, even though it looks identical to much less expensive silver jewelry, and in the case of the Watch, stainless. Does that mean Apple will never offer a platinum Edition for those who would prefer the choice of silver over gold? Not likely.
Apple is doing this the right way, slowly rolling out new SKUs in such a way that they can both keep up with demand as well as effectively manage them. Jony Ive has clearly stated that "As soon as something is worn, we have expectations of choice", and like every successful watchmaker, Apple will address that, offering as many choices as the market supports.
Is it just me, or did they go extra pink with the rose gold?
I love the genuine rose gold Apple offered, but the aluminum version is too feminine for me.
I can't quite tell on the watch. I think so. On the phone, oh yeah goodness is that thing pink! I would imagine the watch and the iPhone are the same color but on the watch it looks more subdued in the photos I've seen.
While I really like the new Apple Watch Sport in Gold, for now, I'm going to stick with my Space Gray. I do wish that I was able to sync multiple Apple Watches to my iPhone 6+. Then I would consider having both a gold and gray.

So with the rose gold sports watch, switching to the white band with a silver pin, is it just me or this sounds a bit weird?
Frankly I'm confused about this. Does Apple sell replacement pins? Or will they eventually offer every color with every metal pin color? So with the rose gold sports watch, switching to the white band with a silver pin, is it just me or this sounds a bit weird?

As much as Apple has made the bands interchangeable, they have done very little to accommodate the customer doing this for some classes of the watch. For instance, why no basic leather bands for the Sport to dress it up a bit?
On a very real note, can we get some more pictures preferably comparisons to other models of the sport? I, like other users I'm sure, want to know just how intense the gold color really is.

I definitely like it with black color bands.Photos of 42MM Sport Gold with my entire band collection: White Sport, Black Sport, Green Sport, Black Leather Loop.
I'm very happy with my AWSG watch, I can't imagine selling it for either color, but then I'm not a fan of gold colored products and the rose gold doesn't really move me.Anyone selling their AWS to get either of the gold models? i'm looking at selling my space grey sport to get the gold model... Apple pictured it with the navy blue sport band, which i'm in love with!
