If you think this, I'd say you don't understand why people would buy the Edition -- a limited supply of an 18kt solid gold watch with custom designed bands and 18kt solid gold hardware.

Apple is not going to leave money on the table for people who want a nicer-looking gold watch than the Sport, who will otherwise not wear silver jewelry or accessories. Platinum jewelry is also quite popular, even though it looks identical to much less expensive silver jewelry, and in the case of the Watch, stainless. Does that mean Apple will never offer a platinum Edition for those who would prefer the choice of silver over gold? Not likely.

Apple is doing this the right way, slowly rolling out new SKUs in such a way that they can both keep up with demand as well as effectively manage them. Jony Ive has clearly stated that "As soon as something is worn, we have expectations of choice", and like every successful watchmaker, Apple will address that, offering as many choices as the market supports.
I'm just going on record saying I'd be very surprised if Apple releases a gold plated watch.

Can someone share some pictures with good lightning of the new Apple Watch Sport Gold and Rose Gold with different bands? I'd like to see those watches with the black leather loop band and with the black and white sport bands, I think it's gonna look awesome.

Thinking of ditching my space grey for the gold and midnight blue combination.
Do they have these (42mm) in store yet or is it online only. Am in the UK by the way

Is it just me, or did they go extra pink with the rose gold?

I love the genuine rose gold Apple offered, but the aluminum version is too feminine for me.

Yeah, the rose gold on the edition is close to perfect. Would've loved that one combined with a black band.

I can't quite tell on the watch. I think so. On the phone, oh yeah goodness is that thing pink! I would imagine the watch and the iPhone are the same color but on the watch it looks more subdued in the photos I've seen.

The phone is honestly pink, which I'm a bit disappointed by. I sort of expected copper, but that didn't really happen.

I agree that to be able to sync two watches would have been better, but it really only takes a minute to do so it didn't stop me from going for the gold, I'm glad I did.

While I really like the new Apple Watch Sport in Gold, for now, I'm going to stick with my Space Gray. I do wish that I was able to sync multiple Apple Watches to my iPhone 6+. Then I would consider having both a gold and gray.

So with the rose gold sports watch, switching to the white band with a silver pin, is it just me or this sounds a bit weird?

Yeah, any sport bands that you purchase separately have a silver pin. Only the bundled bands on the gold and rose gold Sport models have the pins in yellow gold and rose gold, respectively. Gold/Rose Gold aluminum owners are somewhat limited in options just like the Space Gray owners.

Frankly I'm confused about this. Does Apple sell replacement pins? Or will they eventually offer every color with every metal pin color?

As much as Apple has made the bands interchangeable, they have done very little to accommodate the customer doing this for some classes of the watch. For instance, why no basic leather bands for the Sport to dress it up a bit?

You could easily scuff up the silver pin with a fine sandpaper and tape it off and paint the pin gold, easy peasy.

You can't change out the pin on the Sport band and you'll damage it if you attempt this. The silver aluminum and SS models are really the only versatile models out there. Space Gray, Space Black, and Edition owners have always been limited in their band options from day one, and we're now welcoming gold and rose gold aluminum owners to this club.

On a very real note, can we get some more pictures preferably comparisons to other models of the sport? I, like other users I'm sure, want to know just how intense the gold color really is.

It's very subtle, but classy. I wasn't a big fan of the edition it was to blingy for me so I'm really glad they did this one in a matte finish.

Photos of mine with stock Midnight Blue band attached. Will try and post with black & white sport band as well as black leather loop.

Yes! I really want to get the 42mm Gold apple watch sport, I have the 42mm Space grey sport right now. I went into the store to look at them, and to also look at how the Rose Gold looks to see if I want it for my iPhone 6S Plus (Yes I'm a guy, and yes I'm comfortable enough to rock the Rose Gold iPhone). Anyway, I tried the gold one with the black leather loop, the blue leather loop, and the band it comes with and they all look amazing! :)

Saw and tried the gold sports today. Pretty impressed, but not enough to sell my current silver one to get one. I wish the blue band was few shades darker. My main concern with the gold one is the contrast between the watch and stainless steel lugs on the leather bands (both Apple and third party ones).

I wandered into an Apple Store today (University Village Seattle) and decided to take a look at the Space Black SS watch (I was thinking of changing my SS w BCB for a SB SS w BCB). The rep accidentally took out the gold and midnight blue sport watch - it was love at first sight. YOLOd and bought the Sport gold with midnight blue. Just listed my SS model on amazon....couldn't be happier.

Not to mention blue and gold are my alma mater's colors. Go Bears!

Anyone selling their AWS to get either of the gold models? i'm looking at selling my space grey sport to get the gold model... Apple pictured it with the navy blue sport band, which i'm in love with!
I'm very happy with my AWSG watch, I can't imagine selling it for either color, but then I'm not a fan of gold colored products and the rose gold doesn't really move me.
