I was walking, so kept the phone in my bag. I think the golf glove is the culprit.

I don't have the watch yet, but I saw a screenshot of the watch app on iphone that lets you set the wrist preference on the watch. I think one of the options allowed you to have the digital crown face away from your hand. If that's the case, I'd recommend (and I plan to) toggle that option when you're getting ready for your round, then wear the watch upside down on your wrist. That should keep you from accidentally taking screenshots.

Sometimes I feel like it takes too long for the yardages to update on the watch or that it differs by 20 yards from what a playing partner is reading.

Hopefully it's just an update to fix

The iPhone app does the same thing. I have to stand at my ball for a few seconds while it updates. It's just the nature of the app retrieving GPS info.

I haven’t used this app on the watch yet, but I imagine the delay will always be there

I tried some other apps on my iphone, and to be honest, its far easier and quicker using a Laser (Bushnell) etc

I’ll give it a go once I finally get my watch, I’m interested in using on the range for alignment etc

Keep swinging and playing around

I use this app now during my golf matches in High school. So cool to simply look at the watch and see your distance from the hole without fiddling around with a range finder. Only a few times it did not work properly.

Used it again today and confirmed that force touch will allow you to see distance to hazards, gps of hole, and track distance of shot.

I have pro and it didn't work for me. All I saw when I played yesterday was yardage to center of pin and it got hung up a few times. I couldn't input my score and saw no distance to hazards. What am I missing here?

Swipe left from the yardage to enter your score this leads you to save the score and move on to the next hole.

A few odd things today, I've set a 4 iron hybrid as a fave club - app told me to use a wedge off the tee on a short par 4 so that I could then use the hybrid for the 2nd shot!

Delay - I think that communication between the phone and gps in the phone kiks in as you glance at the watch - there is a 2 or 3 second delay each time.

I think once the watch is a stand alone device it will be ok.

but if its still connected using the iphone, we'll always get a bit of lag, some areas on the course might be bad for your phone signal etc, I don't know if the watch will ever get its own connection to the cellular network, that could help, but that'll be 3-4-5 years off i reckon.

its just a bit of fun

What bands are you guys wearing when golfing?

I haven't received my sport yet and have the Milanese and leather loop. Not sure how I feel about wearing the leather on the course with the heat.

I'm getting my 42 Blue Sport on Tomorrow, and will get it a go Thursday at Abu Dhabi National, I've always taken my watch off playing golf, so its going to be interesting trying this out,

Full report to follow

I've been using my sport strap for the past 2 weeks and it's done brilliantly. Feels completely secure even when two yards away from a water hazard ha

I used it today for the first time. It was at a strange course and just messing with it on the range practicing.

My biggest issue is screen brightness and sweat factor. It was overcast and it was tough to see the screen clearly.

Also my sweaty finger swiping made a mess of the screen.

Will look forward to trying it for real during a round.

I used this app 2 times, and its taking a bit to get used to, I was in a Buggy which had built in GPS, so it seemed pointless.

Having to select each hole manually is a bit of a pain, I still can’t figure out the 1st screen

I think it about a target or setting a target

The picture I’ve attached is only black, but it normally shows some part of the fairway or green, but how to you change- or select another area???

Problems

Guys I am having major issues with this app for the apple watch. It takes FOREVER to load a distance. Most of the time it actually gets stuck on one distance and will not update no matter how many times I change the hole. I also cannot swipe to do anything in the app. I have two screens only, one to select the hole, and one that gives me distance with some weird symbol to the right of it that looks like two green lines with a ball between them. Is this because I have the free version?? Like I said I cannot swipe or do anything other than change holes.

Force touch will open up more features for you but it sounds like the free version. The lines with the ball is the distance to center of the green. There is a distance on top and bottom for front and back with the paid version. Force touch lets you choose hole and track distance.

For gps make sure the app settings on the phone allow gps connection without putting it to sleep Nd try and leave the app open on the phone before it puts the screen to sleep. This has worked for me to help speed up gps. Also keep in mind the course your playing may be in a area with poor gps/cellular ability.

I'm using the paid version, but will cancel it as its not really ready yet

To me it was very distracting to use. It wouldnt update the yardage quickly at all (laser was much faster). Also, it wouldn't switch holes for me even with force touch. I gave up after 2 holes.

Been using this for awhile. ehh it's OK.

Anyone try hole19 yet? I downloading last night, have not tried it yet.

I’ve been using hole 19th for 2-3 rounds, it seems ok, takes a while to load etc but that’s the same as the other apps tested, I’ve been comparing it to the GPS in the buggy and it seems ok.

You have to move it on to each hole which can be a bit of pain, BUT its free

I'm going to try "Golf GPS caddie-Free Rangefinder scorecard"

playing on Friday so will report back

3 handicap here.

I use hole19 and it is great. Luckily I live in a 4G area so there is no issue for loading times for distances etc.

Distances seem accurate +\- a few yards ( I play with someone that uses a laser rangefinder).

Guys - For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the app to show up on the Apple Watch. It shows fine on my iPhone but there's nothing on my watch...no icon, no Siri, nothing.

Help?? Thanks.

Under the watch app on your phone, check to make sure the golf shot app is selected as "show app on watch"

Other than that I have no idea

Golf shot gps

I cannot end the round on my watch. The phone app ends the round fine and is ready to start a new one, but not the watch. Any help?

I tried using it to record my round, now i use it only as a yardage tool, keeping track 0f the score and putts is crap, the App isn't really ready yet.

19th Hole is similar, okay for distances, but keeping track of your round forget it

Fun Golf gps

I tried Golfshot, Hole 19 and Golf Pad with my Apple Watch, but neither of these apps work well with the watch. The app Fun Golf gps works very fast and accurate with the watch, including the distance to hazards. Ik only use it for measering the distance. Scorekeeping i write in my card. The app is not free using on the watch.

Tried this out yesterday- it works pretty good.
My only bitch is that 5 times during my follow through the watch took screenshots- I could hear the shutter, and sure enough there was pics on my phone.
So my bent wrist must be pressing the crown and side button at the same time.
Wonder if this can be disabled?

I have noticed photos of people wearing their Watch quiet close to the hand, either on the wrist phone or forward of the wrist bone. I have always worn my watches aft of the wrist bone, which happens to br the narrowest part of the wrist, at least for me. I can imagine wearing the watch to far toward to hand could lead to accidental button presses, let alone inconsistent heart rate readings and possible discomfort.

When I was at the Apple Store for a try on appointment, the young woman who helped me initially placed the watch on the hand side of my wrist bone. Not comfortable. I suggested that I prefer to wear my watch behind the wrist bone, and thought to ask if how she initially positioned it was how most people are wearing watches these days, or if that is how Apple was training them? Seemed odd, but then again, maybe I'm the odd one!
