This is the most excited I've been about a phone release since the original iPhone. Given -- it has the feel of more of a beta release, there are definite ways the phone can and will be improved upon. The direction they're going with this phone is very intriguing. It feels just like the original release of the iPhone.

I don't have much to say in this letter, not even sure if this is the right place to post. I've bought almost every model of iPhone from the iPhone 3 in 2008, and loved mostly every experience of it.. until now. It seems everything's going to hell with Apple. I'll be searching for a downgrade of a phone, but I will no longer support this company, even if it means a worse phone experience.

I am still in shock from the release of the iPhone 8, and X. I feel like someone I was in a trustworthy relationship over a long period of time stabbed me in the back and walked away. I guess It's my fault for letting myself get attached to a company.

iPhone X isn't perfect. It is flawed, and Apple, if you truly think it's appropriate to ask your community to "get used to" or adjust to the akward black bevel on your "borderless screen" that.. by the way blocks videos and makes the experience inconvenient for an outstanding price you're wrong.

and about the iPhone 8.. well it's nothing special compared to the iPhone 6s. They're basically the same, with some small upgrades. Not worth the price.

What are your guys opinions about apples recent decisions? Am I the only one?

Nice try...

You obviously don't know what you're talking about (iPhone X "blocking" videos?... yeah..right) but I guess you feel slightly better, now that your thread gets some traction.

Moving on....

🙄

It blocks the screen, but you can zoom out by double-tapping.

What about 6S compared to 6? 7 to 6? 8 to 7? Basically the same.

It's the internet, you're never the only one. You are definitely exaggerating to get attention though.

I think its a crime to release a phone with only 2gb of ram in 2017, and absolute, unequivocal felony. I refuse to support to a company which does that.

As other posters have said, you have a right to vote with your wallet but in my opinion, you are taking this way too personally. A phone or computer/electronics/software company should not dictate your feelings and emotions. At the end of the day, it’s a phone, a computer, software. Period. I’m not sure why so many are so offended by the iPhone X black bezel on top. I don’t see it as a compromise nor do I see Face ID as some sort of last minute panic move as some would suggest. There’s way too much tech involved for that to have just been a rushed mistake.

Normally I would agree with this type of thinking except apple does create its products to induce feelings, emotions, etc. if you look at their product history, the ads, they're geared towards that.

If you don't have an emotional attachment to a company, you won't be loyal-- and if you're not loyal, it hurts their bottom line.

Apple isn't the only company that does this, many retailers do. It's why so much of the crap I mean collaborations LV did got swallowed down and happily. Coated canvas near 1k or over 1k easily? Hello goyard.

But apple is definitely the smartest. The ecosystem, that really makes me stick around even if the phone is starting to get a bit more android looking.

iPhone 8 ...nothing special? You just made those iPhone 8 buyers really mad. To you it's not special, but those buyers love em. I get it that it doesn't live up to your expectation, but you got choices. I understand you want to vent, but this is one of those, "Dear Diary..." thing.

Bye! One less person competing for the X.

I'm not understanding why people feel the need to create their own personal good bye topic.

When you trade in or sell your car, do you write a good bye? What about if you get a new microwave?

They're just phones.
It's not just here. This is quite common at DP Review (Digital Photography. You'll get some guy in the Canon forum giving his reasons why he/she is switching to Nikon. Or you get some troll in the M43 (Micro four thirds) forum touting the superiority of Fuji over M43. They feel they need an audience to justify their decision-opinion.

I'm over being "excited" for a phone. Yes we do so much with our devices now but its really just a phone. We shouldn't get so emotional over it. I agree Apple hasn't done anything exciting in a while but im ok with that. Nobody is forcing me or anyone else to buy it. I just got a iPhone 7 last week and im perfectly happy with it. I dont need the latest and greatest. Especially if the latest isnt that great. As for Android...I've tried to make the jump many times but always came back to iOS. They have great "exciting" hardware...especially Samsung but as far as software goes I just prefer iOS.

I’m wondering why all these people on here with so much expertise on what a smart phone should be aren’t out there developing and creating the perfect phone with none of the flaws or drawbacks of the current industry leaders, there’s clearly a gap in the market for it....

I think you need a little more variety in your life other than talking about a company and a phone like a partner who stabbed you in the back........

You could always just keep what you have. Otherwise have fun with android. You’ll be back in no time. Because any mistake Apple makes pales in comparison to the horrible fragmentation of the Android software and hardware ecosystem.

Adios!

I don't know if it sucks but the only thing that is keeping me with Apple is that I am used to IOS. If the latest Samsung phone could run IOS I would be gone in a minute.
This. A million times. If I could get iOS on any phone I wanted?

Man, that'd be great!

Bottom line, if a multibillion dollar company is not producing a phone that meets your needs or wants, find one that does. Why get all hot and bothered by it.

I've quite tempted for the S8, or even the Note, but at the moment, I don't need a new phone, I have the luxury of not buying anything. My iPhone Se is still wonderful and so I'll hold onto my money a little longer 🙂

Btw, there's a lot I like with the iPhone X, but the price is a killer for me. I'm having a hard time justifying the expense.
