Changing design for the sake of it is actually the worse thing a hardware manufacturer can ever do. Most Samsung flagships are just good to look at, but hosts a whole lot of usability issues when it comes to being able to operate reliably everyday. Most of the features are gimmicky and half baked.

You say that you want some changes on the front of the screen but that is the most functional part of the device. It needs to do the things it’s supposed to do without fail and at the end of the day it also needs to be a slab anyway with present interface paradigm. So that logic doesn’t work in real life scenario.

How about change the design because it is time? 68% on the iP8 vs over 82-4% on the latest non Apple phones is laughable and other manufactures do it while giving you a variety of extra security features and the sensors that need to be fitted into the body.

None of the features on my Note 8 are gimmicky or half backed, everything works exactly as it should.

Just picked up an iPhone 8 for the wife and even though the phone might “look dated” I still can appriciate its build quality and I think it’s well worth its money.

I have never used a phone with the finger print reader on the back but I can only imagine how cumbersome it must be to always pick up the phone just to unlock it.

I’m glad Apple went with a more conventional design.

It will be interesting to see how well FaceID will work.

I'm not loyal but I've given it a go. I was an Android Fangirl. The blue 5c was the best and most beautiful iPhone I've had. It was also my first one.

Since then I've had:

5s- Dead pixels right out of box from Apple store. Second one fine.

6- Bent in my purse while in an Otter Box.

6s- First one under battery recall.

SE- Two logic board failures at Apple store diagnostics. Frustrating.

7 Plus- Horrible reception and data speeds.

I'm so tired of playing the Apple lottery. Like am I going to get a yellow or blue screen? Is my battery life going to be good or bad? Am I going to get decent LTE speeds and call quality consistency?

Samsung VS LG on displays.
Samsung VS TSMC on battery life.
Intel VS Qualcomm on data, calls, etc.

They've created an inferior VS superior component war between their models. That had never been an issue for me prior to buying iPhones.

Heck, my Note 3 still works as good as it did the day I bought it.

I just wish manufacturers would leave the bootloader unlocked like they used to. It was super easy to get a root and ROM to fix any issues your device had. I miss that.
Whoa I knew about your bendy 6 and your 6s, but that list looks like you got a dud with every release! 😱

I've had mixed luck with my Samsungs. Nice recalled Note 7, wonky loaner S7 that constantly overheated like it was going to explode, second Note 7 that also overheated, husband had a Note 7 with ugly OLED display, perfect S7 Edge, perfect S7, S8+ with pink display and static sounds during calls like people are complaining about on the iPhone 8s. My perception of Samsung's QC is that they're all over the place.

Luck of the draw will really color one's perceptions of a company.

My iPhone 6Plus was a laggy hideous pain in the butt, all my other iPhones have been very nice. So my perception of Apple quality is good.

The problem is....Android sucks. I see other phones I like, but I simply can not deal with Android.
Too right.
iOS has issues as well, but it is the best we have at the moment. If someone would spend a year and a million bucks on a better UI & UX, they would own the mobile market in a flash.

PS. Sorry, could not resist the easy pun.

I’m not talking about change for the sake of changing... I’m talking about a four year old design that’s due for a bit of updating or will potentially be left feeling stale to some users. Trimming some of the bezel does not remove functionality nor hinder operation of iOS. I was just using the Galaxy S8 as an example of a beautiful hardware design, not saying that the iPhone needs to look/be a similar design as far as a curved screen or any functionality related to the edge panel on a Galaxy... At the end of the day Apple can do what they want, I’m just saying compared to current flagship offerings the iPhone 6/7/8 series while still a great phone does feel a bit too familiar to me... Again, to me. You are free to enjoy that design. I’m not complaining just sharing a thought.

Why goodbye .... ????

apple still strongest company and riches now ...

people say goodbye then dont come back ...
maybe next yrs they bring a big suprise phone then ,

Taken time to say goodbye to Steve’s Apple, reluctantly.
But it’s gone, nothing to do about it.

I don’t love today’s  like I did earlier, but I still enjoy the ‘imperfect’ products.
The magic is not there, as it used to be. But life is nevertheless magical, just not so connected to 

Tim’s  is different, everything changes. Acceptance comes, expectations changes too.

Yeah I absolutely understand what you mean. I’m just saying that usability matters a lot and as much of importance if not more as aesthetics.

I guess I’m in the minority of users that don’t find the iPhone 7/8, particularly the Plus models with dual cameras and higher res screens dated looking design wise or for their screens to look inferior quality wise. The iPhone feels extremely high quality I’ve been in stores and played around with other friends Android devices and I don’t see the inferior quality of the screen. 401 ppi has not shown any shortcomings at normal human viewing distances. Performance on iOS by and large is second to none, there are a ton of built in USABLE features and and an amazingly diverse and polished app stor for utilities not built in to the phone. I’m just not sure where all of this disappointment in Apple is coming from. We all have different expectations but from my perspective, Apple and iOS still offer an incredibly compelling product. I’m heavily invested in Apple’s products and services because all in all, the stuff I own and use works all day, everyday, and I’m actually a big fan of the devices aesthetically if I’m honest. I’m not a fan boy and I recognize Apple’s shortcomings but as I said in an earlier post, vote with wallet and don’t take Apple’s products and services so serious. Complaining about the design or features of an iPhone is a wonderful problem to have. I don’t don’t you for that though. Keep it in perspective.

Side note, but until the iPhone 8 and X came out, I thought the iPhone 7/7 Plus were some of the best looking phones ever, especially in the black/jet black finishes.

I'm about to buy a 15" MBP-tb ($2399) this Sunday in Portland, Or., because it's tax-free. I am planning on purchasing my X there too when the sim-free gets released. The tax-free helps absorb the cost as I am from So. California. I am passing on Apple Care - $379 MBP + $199 X is half of what my X will cost. Apple is crazy and will be interesting to see how profitable they will be with their new, yet old-fashion looking iPhones (except for the X).

No argument, the 8 looks nearly identical to the 6, as it does to most Android phones. Most of them are simple slabs now. Personally, the design has served me well, and functional needs/capabilities haven't really changed for any of them in years.

For the price of accessories like cases, I don't really see it a terrible thing that the design hasn't been different. After all they all are just slabs. Imagine if Apple just changed the phone each year just enough to force everyone to buy new cases. You know damn well, that will be the complaint if/when they change the watch so all the bands no longer work with some future new model.

IDK, I have owned every iPhone, I thought about the 8, but am going to give the X a try first. I for one think that the Apple ecosystem is hands down the most polished, and I am happy to have all my devices part of it.

I don't have much to say in this letter, not even sure if this is the right place to post. I've bought almost every model of iPhone from the iPhone 3 in 2008, and loved mostly every experience of it.. until now. It seems everything's going to hell with Apple. I'll be searching for a downgrade of a phone, but I will no longer support this company, even if it means a worse phone experience.

I am still in shock from the release of the iPhone 8, and X. I feel like someone I was in a trustworthy relationship over a long period of time stabbed me in the back and walked away. I guess It's my fault for letting myself get attached to a company.

iPhone X isn't perfect. It is flawed, and Apple, if you truly think it's appropriate to ask your community to "get used to" or adjust to the akward black bevel on your "borderless screen" that.. by the way blocks videos and makes the experience inconvenient for an outstanding price you're wrong.

and about the iPhone 8.. well it's nothing special compared to the iPhone 6s. They're basically the same, with some small upgrades. Not worth the price.

What are your guys opinions about apples recent decisions? Am I the only one?

I understand your position (even though it's not mine) but in the end Apple will not miss your money.

I dunno. Android itself isn't crappy. It's what Samsung does to Android that makes it crappy. Gross. That's why I will never touch a Samsung.

And I think that's a good point to make regarding the differences between Samsung an android. A lot of white is on an android device is applications that are frivolous and useless that take up space. But Samsung as a smart phone manufacturer, they make very good devices.

Just 1 year of bad iPhone and you are leaving? I think you are stabbing in Apple’s back. Do you think other companies will make you every year? I guess you are upset about X price and you don’t like 8 and you are scared that lot of people will buy X and your order will deliver next year. Grapes are sour.

I have the same problem with Apple. I hate the notch on top but I have no other choise then to pick Apple.

Android OS sucks big time.
Plus dont let me get started of all the bugs, glitches, errors, virus etc.
I never had any problem with Apple. And if I do I just restart the phone and its solved.

I wish the appearance of the iPhone X looked better. The designer should get fired imo.

Even the Samsung S8 looks better then the iPhone X. Its sad.

I pay for design and OS. If the iPhone X had a good design I would even spend 1500 euro's on it no problem. But design is just horrible.

The fact an Android phone -needs- more than 2GB of RAM is more the issue here.

The HTC One W8 had 2GB of RAM and it ran Windows Phone absolutely perfectly. Hell, same OS ran well on phones with 512MB of RAM!

Exact same hardware running Android ran like a dog. Not a fast dog like a whippet or greyhound, a dog like 'ol whistler with his 3 legs and bad hips.

You sound like me with a the latest purchase made for the house. I was upset with the selection of the new vacuum my wife purchased. I am just not canister type guy.

My recommendation is to take the money you are saving from not purchasing the newer phones and take a vacation. Those memories will last a longer than this years' upgrade
