i don't understand how these companies, worth billions at purchase, would ever profitable by creating very expensive gadgets supposed to replace cheap products
one can find a thermostat for less than $50 and a smoke detector for $10
the potential value of geek customers would never match this amount![]()
RIP iOS compatibility
Apple has bigger plans![]()
You don't have to use G+. Just don't login to the G+ Page.
No difference to what other companies do. Apple included. You don't have to use G+ to use YouTube either.
They all make you sign up in order to use a service.
Nah, Google builds better iOS apps than Android apps. They won't give up their majority market.
However, I'd be a little worried about Google now knowing every detail about my energy usage for heating and cooling.... as well as when I'm home or "away."

YouTube is not G+. If I wanted the services provided by G+, it would make perfect sense to make me use G+. But I want the services provided by YouTube, and I can use those services without being signed into G+. So why, after opting out of that integration, do they keep prompting me to sign in?
Well, that's ends MY interest in ever buying any of these. If Google's involved, I'm gone. They're trying their best to own us all. Well, not me!
I was actually looking into purchasing one recently - not a chance now!
oh well, I guess I'll never get a Nest.
Apple should've scooped up that one.
We have not yet approach the crazy level of insanity.
Time Warner purchased of AOL for $60 billion was and still is the height of insanity.
You comments seem reasonable...but Google isn't known for making many stupid investments and losing bunches of money.
One presumes that they have some idea of what they're doing...although $3,2 BILLION does seem...ah...a bit excessive.
But then, that's why Google has lots of money, and I don't!![]()
