I am surprised since Google is mainly an information company. Then don't build or manufacture, basically they collect info and then repackage and sell it. More valuable than companies that build cars, building material, airplanes, cruise ships, and even banks!

This is the age we live in.

Uber doesn't own any cars - yet look at their success
Seamless doesn't make any food - yet look at their success
Alibaba doesn't have any inventory - yet look at their success
AirBnB has no real estate holdings - yet look at their success

If your not a stock/share holder, then you would most likely have no idea what he meant by that. He is referring to market deappreciation and influx. Are you a stock/shareholder? If you were, you would understand his semantics.

My guess is you were trying to be clever with your response to him, when in reality you have no clue about anything I have stated in these last two posts to you or his original post. Hence, why you should not comment and or troll if you have no sense of his post on Macrumors. It's ok to be ignorant, but know you will get called out for it if someone observes your blatant retort of a troll post. Ignorance is bliss.

So again I ask, you are defending his ability to predict the price of a stock, at a specified time in the future?

Please answer this time.

I'm not sure the Apple car will be what Apple needs to bring it out of its slump in the next couple years....they should focus on pleasing their customers. Alot of things that we have asked for, they have constantly refused to give us on our products and devices. If having a Apple car means I won't be able to fill my tank with gas at the gas station because apple invented some so-called innovative way to power my car and I have to spend extra money to use the feature, then I don't want it.

Highly speculative posting. First of all, you're not forced to buy an Apple car, neither does it make any sense to be judgmental about none existing products at this moment.

Sell???? I'll double down and buy more at that price! I really do believe this is temporary. Apple has lots of things to fix and places to innovate, but they do a ton of things better than anyone else.

See: sunk cost fallacy.

It's tough to imagine a market in which Apple could really be a substantial leader, considering they're already hit critical mass on computers, their bread-and-butter. Anything else they try to get into (cars, original programming, etc) will be at best an afterthought, chasing after the companies already far ahead of them in development.

It's entirely possible that their best days are behind them. That doesn't mean they won't continue to be an outstanding company with outrageous profits; but the growth period may indeed be over.

Oh so anyone with a negative opinion of Apple is a troll, I get it now. An interesting world some folks live in.

Depends on the context isn't it? But if you think that everyone with some negative view about Apple is a troll then, by all means, you're entitled to think that. I find that a bit simplistic, but that's just my opinion.

Obviously there is volatility, but Tim's inaction is taking it's toll on customers, it's products, and the company

This all sounds horribly familiar, doesn't it?
  • (By now) horrbile Operating System software quality (be honest, lets face it)
  • Unreliable services (Fun fact: They now even want to create their own hardware infrastructure to run their already unreliable services on...no one else concerned?)
  • No honest communication with the customer (personally bugs me the most, but everyone is different)
  • Countless and meaningless version iterations of products with the only goal of keeping the current software and hardware foundation alive at any cost... at the expense of innovation
  • And the worst: WAY too much money to continue like this for many more years to come
Today's APPLE is the MICROSOFT of the 90's...
Apple today face similar problems Microsoft had back then ... and they try to solve it with similar measures... Striking big deals with big companies to get the cash in to stay in business... I am a bit disappointed, mostly that Apple seems to not have learned from their former competitors' mistakes...

Not surprising. Apple needs to focus on what brought people to Apple in the first place and quit trying to force An iPad as a Mac replacement or a Watch as an accessory to an iPhone or a car that they have no business making. I love Apple products but the magic has fizzled out as of late

Would you clarify what you mean, please? Most people came to Apple via the iPod or iPhone. Should they be focusing on the iPhone then? Or do you mean, they should focus on "magic"?

Just like when Apple Computer got into the phone market. An afterthought product.

I find it interesting that Apple is pressured to innovate every year. I think the biggest difference between Steve Jobs' years and Tim Cooks' years are that the competition is that much better. Chinese/Korean companies can copy Apple in less than 1 generation and actually implement changes that apple are only rumored to include before Apple actually includes them.

I don't actually think apple is behind the ball on innovation, it just seems that way.

Really? Looks to me that most of the people in here are the usual "Apple is doomed" Android trolls that are in every article these days.

I don't think so. We're all here because we're interested enough in Apple to burn valuable time here. I think Apple is taking a few punches because it's been a while since they really dazzled us, that's showing in the AAPL pricing, we've heard truth (or spin?) about the "amazing pipeline" for an increasingly longer while but not seen "amazing" come out of it yet, etc. So the shiny halo is showing a little tarnish and we're worried that maybe Apple can't do it anymore.

In 1968, The Beatles were still riding atop Sgt. Peppers- which many will often refer to as their masterpiece album. Especially at that time, it dazzled vs. all competition. As the afterglow of that faded, questions started flying about could they do it anymore? Was that masterpiece (without any hit singles) the pinnacle of their capabilities and it was basically over (or maybe "The Beatles were d00med" if you will)? And then out comes "Hey Jude" the biggest hit single of their entire span together with stuff like The White Album, Abbey Road and Let it Be to follow.

Personally, I'm definitely no "Apple is always right" fanboy. I can certainly be down on them when I judge them through my own "think different" consumer lens and they are doing things that seem very un-Apple-like to me. But they are great and I think we ALL know they can do better than what we've seen from them for a while. We expect dazzling wow from Apple. When we don't get it, we grumble. When we don't get it for a long time, we grumble louder. But we're still here... and still expecting dazzling wow to come. Who else is going to deliver it?

I say that about Google, and wonder why they are up there and if they will just sink into Oblivion at some point.

Perhaps you're not getting my hint of sarcasm there. I was assuming that was your assumption, as your previous comment to me seemed to hint of that.

Good for them.

I don't really expect AAPL to regain the title in the long run. That's not because GOOG has much of a chance of keeping it, but rather because FB will overtake them both. Certainly it's difficult to imagine a scenario in which GOOG's market cap remains above AAPL's (in the long term), but FB does not overtake them both.

I use to love how people said Tim was doing fantastic, just look at stock value!

Obviously there is volatility, but Tim's inaction is taking it's toll on customers, it's products, and the company

If you look at the public faces of Google or Tesla you see people with the drive to kick butt.... a stark contrast to the well off, aging faces at Apple.

What's funny, is that is always what iPhone fanatics say. I recall lots of people saying the exact same thing you are saying now, such as:

"Who needs LTE in a phone, 3G is plenty fast enough"
"No one would want a phone bigger than 4", large screen phones are stupid"
"Who would want to multitask on a phone, it would kill the battery life"
"Having split screen on a phone is pointless"
"Why would want to pay for things with their phone? Mobile payments are useless"
"No one needs greater than 720p resolution"
"Smartwatches are a useless gimmick"

Face it. All of the features Apple has come out with since the creation of the iPhone and App Store, Android had previously and fanboys like you always said it was stupid until Apple came out with it years later.

Nice post. Though I don't agree with any of it.

I think the issue is we are reaching a point where the efficient side of technology is starting to surpass human interest. And I say this cautiously as to not abuse hindsight. When I got the first iPhone, of course I was amazed, but things changed, new features and technologies came out, and we upgraded because the new product was way better. But with every new iPhone or gadget, I find this desire is vanishing. And I think this is a trend with all phones. This attitude of "innovate or die" is so strange. It's an ode to the society we live in where we always want newer and better. When the pocket of future improvement genuinely shrinks, we pull out the innovate card.

It's sad, that's all I wanted to get at. Even Tim was trying to tell people that they're coming out with products that people one day will look back and wonder how they ever lived without them. Me personally, I enjoy watching Primitive Technology on YouTube. I could watch that guy forever.

Their latest iPhone release was an older, cheaper, faster, smaller iPhone. What did you guys expect? Time for Cook to step aside. He hasn't a clue what he's doing. Riding the coat tails are over.

This makes no sense unless you're dumb enough to think Apple's flagship for 2016 was the SE. I don't think 99% of the market is that dumb.

Apple isn't doomed, but if their sales continue to fall so will it's share price and it will be a battle to raise it again I think.

But if the iPhone 8 ends up being as is rumoured it will certainly help, however, by then Samsung will have foldable screen phones on the market....
Place your bets now.....
