That photo looks real to me. The people are sitting on a rock under the shadow of a tree, it’s not a common scenario but I can totally see the iPhone getting fooled by that set up. Pixel generally have the best camera of its generation so it will be interesting to see more in-depth reviews.

For what I heard so far the Xs is on par with the pixel 2 and S9, maybe even a bit behind, so we’ll see if this is an incremental update or if google will leap frog again like they did with the original pixel and pixel 2.
Nope. Check zoneoftech youtube comparison of the iPhone xs versus pixel 2. The iPhone destroyed the pixel. Every category.

I am no YouTube star, but couldn’t disagree more with that video.

My pixel 2 has been fine, though it is not an XL. Sadly the XL gave the regular pixel 2 a bad reputation.

On the 2, the Screen has been awesome, response of screen and software has been great. I see no optimization issues with this phone so far.

If you're not multi-tasking to oblivion, then I think 4gb RAM could suffice. However, it may show stutters w/ major load on the Pixel 2 or OG Pixel. I didn't notice software stutters on my old OG Pixel because I had it for like a week and it had battery problems, so I ended up returning it. Didn't have an opportunity to test out the extra load, but doesn't surprise me that some people find 4gb limiting.

6gb RAM is a flagship standard on Android now.

If ALL you care about is a good camera there are plenty of good real cameras and then get an actually good looking and good working phone.

Design, hardware and software is not simply something you can ignore or dismiss because of a good camera.

That’s not all I care about. It’s the reason I mentioned multiple things..

On iPhone XS #3 to see if its WiFi and LTE performance can match my iPhone 7.

The pixel slate isn’t cheap. A 512GB LTE 12.9” iPad Pro with keyboard is $1448.

As if Apple doesn't do the same kind of marketing. lol. Every company including Apple does it.

So is this the new future with cameras...I take a night shot and the camera turns it into a daytime shot? The Xs shows the photo as it was intended, realistic and at night. The Pixel converts it to a daytime shot with buildings that look like a spotlight is lighting them up. This is hideous!

Ugh! Yet another ugly clipboard. The new "Clipboard" phone design ethos is unfortunate, no matter the device manufacturer, but, this is one of the worst. A shame Google cracked under the pressure to be like everyone else as they have the talent and (no doubt) plenty of scratch to come up with a compelling "non-clipboard" design. Samsung's flagships look great without a "clip".

Wasn't a fan of anything shown, but I found the new Google Home Hub to be interesting and will certainly give the Echo Show a run for its money at just $149.

Sure there's no camera, but w/ great Nest integration and a FULL YouTube experience this thing would be great in any kitchen.

Wish Apple would make something similar.

so the Pixel XL has no headphone jack - but a USB C to 3.5mm dongle - isn't that what Android peeps hate about iPhones?

Pixel soldout and went notch and removed the headphone jack. It seems samsung is the only phone keeping the 3.5mm and no notch

I guess I don’t know how to respond to that.

You posted a video where the reviewer talked about UI lag and that it can’t handle 60 FPS for navigating through menus. Let us also remember that The One Plus is running a newer processor with more advanced memory management than the older Pixel 2.

Outside of that, I agree that more memory would be great, but I doubt most people will max 4GB in simple tests like he was showing. What he was doing would showcase the more modern CPU /GPU, as would a similar comparison on an iPhone X versus XS doing the same things.

So, why would anyone buy a Pixel slate instead of a Surface (that runs a real OS and is a productivity beast) or an iPad (that has a way more tablet specific apps and is a far better tablet)? That product is 200% DOA.

Many people like myself cannot stand Windows and don't want to deal with it. There are also plenty of people that will absolutely refuse to ever buy an Apple branded product. So there's that.

Looks awesome, I've been a fan of the Nexus/Pixel line and this will be a day one buy for me (sans XL).

Google charges too much for a phone that comes with free software and then monetizes the user, it' such a ripoff.

A billion dollar advertising company should offer their hardware for pennies on dollar because most of the revenue is advertising.

No FaceID equivalent is a fail, might as well bring back the hardware keyboard.

I can not believe reporting journalists are letting google get away with that. They didn’t release a new phone they released new pixel os software and locked it to only work on their latest phone.

Apple slit up their annoucements for hardware and software. WWDC shows the new IOS everyone will get. September shows the new phone hardware. Imagine what journalists would have said about Apple if their September presentation said “the new iPhone is last years iPhone, but we locked IOS12 to only work with this phone, thank you see you next year.”

Yet journalists seem to be praising the new idea of not improving the hardware and locking software features to only work with the lastest phone.

Also CNET seem to dismiss the value of a second zoom camera. Yet this is hugely important and the main reason I upgraded my phone. Otherwise every landscape picture is just a picture of the ground right in front of you.
