Look at those bezels...

Never understood the drama about bezels, especially since most people add them back when they choose a case...

Great googily oogily!

Um, not really.

I liked the first Pixel design the slant was unique (never bought the phone and do not know how comfortable it was to hold), but for an element that is already so obvious (the notch), this Pixel 3 makes it stand out even more.

Oh well.

I guess I don’t know how to respond to that.

You posted a video where the reviewer talked about UI lag and that it can’t handle 60 FPS for navigating through menus. Let us also remember that The One Plus is running a newer processor with more advanced memory management than the older Pixel 2.

Outside of that, I agree that more memory would be great, but I doubt most people will max 4GB in simple tests like he was showing. What he was doing would showcase the more modern CPU /GPU, as would a similar comparison on an iPhone X versus XS doing the same things.

Although OnePlus is running a smother UI w/ a better processor and advance management, Google still needs to figure out how to avoid UI lag whether if it's basic loads or advanced loads. 60 FPS should be expected on premium priced devices.

Once Google gets its own SoC, I think the vertical integration they could create would be quite competitive against Apple.

The picture comparison was fudged for sure (no HDR in the iPhone picture), Google stooping as low as Sammy there which they don't need to do when it comes to camera performance.

Obviously Google Execs choose profits over sales this year (the base Pixel 3 went up by $150 compared to the base 2). Apple's Xr comes out the winner again. 6.1 inch screen compared to the Pixel's 5.5 inch screen for $50 less.

They didn’t release a new phone they released new pixel os software and locked it to only work on their latest phone.

Not according to Google's product page. The three specs below are, from left-to-right, the Pixel 3, Pixel 2, and 1. Every gen is able to run Android Pie. Like Apple's iOS, some features only work with exclusive hardware. That said, I'll bet donuts that most features are available since the hardware differences aren't significant.

In an age where phones are becoming more and more covered by screen, Pixel gets a notch and a bezel. Either go with bezels or go with notch. Adding both is bass ackwards.

I asked for a meaningful example, not an aesthetic one.

At this point in time, you are a complete fool if you put anything google in your home, on your devices or utilize it for your searches on the World Wide Web.

Fair enough and I do agree with the premise that optimization could be improved overall.

I think google already does have some work in that direction, unless the work they are doing on the pixel core is only used for image processing going forward.

I expect the Pixel 4 to be the first device they offer with no frills. With that ugly 3XL notch, they need to have a 3D Facial Detection algorithm and hardware set together for next year. Plus, 6 or 8gb RAM need to be standard offerings. Design language has to change too.

Only things going for the Pixel 3 are Google Duplex and the rear camera.

That notch, that chin. Urgh. It is literally like Google designers sat in a meeting and deliberately tried to make sure they did something worse than the iPhone, rather than beat it. SMH. Indifferent hardware specs as well.

The software stuff is pretty cool, like answering the phone and transcribing for you, but otherwise all three devices are priced premium but massively underwhelm.

Still gonna rock my Pixel 1, especially at those ludicrous prices. (Thanks Apple for helping make that happen). Was really hoping to want to upgrade.
How is live transcribing different my iPhone transcribing the voice mail? Can you pick up while they're leaving the message and begin a conversation? Otherwise, I don't see the difference between that and what iPhone has been doing for 2 years.

I assume spam calls are the same as spam email. If you ignore them they don't verify you as a spammable contact. AI answering the phone seems like it would result in more calls. Even if AI answers an increased about you'd still be checking more transcribed calls which has to be annoying too.
Dear Lord (or Apple and AT&T), please, just give me a white list for email, calls, texts, etc. For the love of God, give me a white list.

1,500 for a tablet, ok. A tablet with an i7 and 16GB ram. WTF do tablet users need with all that but only be able to run android...

As bad as that Pixelbook.

Yes you can pick up while they are leaving the message.
