Talk about the same SoC for almost the 2nd year in a row for the Nexus phone now...Snapdragon 801/805 literally on par if your running the 805 at quad HD resolutions, which no phone has a 805 and is running at 1080p

Apple should just by Plex and make that their default fronted. Problem solved.

plex is too much of a hassle, you always need a computer or nas. plus a login. i roll with just straight DLNA to a wdtv. Whoever comes out with a player thats snappy and has all the codecs than its a win. Wdtv live should just offer a faster box.

A media pc is sooo frustrating and a waste.

And it is still pretty perplexing that a quad core 64-bit Tegra K1, for all its accomplishments, still gets romped by a 64-bit DUAL CORE Apple A8.

But those are wide-arse cores on the A8, and the A8 only romps Qualcomm or Nvidia SoCs on single threaded tasks. Get Lollipop rockin' on a 64 bit quad-core and it'll probably be even or a little ahead of the A8 on multithreaded tasks. But not for long...

Next year Apple drops the hexa-core A9 like a thermonuclear bomb on the mobile device scene! All the Fandroids will rush to buy iPhones for the sheer computing power. Apple fanbois will proclaim iOS is smoother and faster because the iPhone's got BALLS!

Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, phones. We still have to plug them in every night and we cary them like delicate teacups in constant fear of bending them or smashing them to pieces. Meanwhile the designers fixate on more pixels we can't see or thinner thinner thinner devices that are harder to hold.

6 hours of what though? Standby? Sounds impressive either way though.

It's using Qualcomm quick charge 2.0. A 3300mah battery can charge from 0 to 60% in 30 mins. It was announce earlier this year but the charger was only available in some countries like Japan. Nice to see it finally making it to the U.S. Quick charge and power saving mode are some of the few things Apple needs to release.

not considering there is technology out there now that can charge a battery in 2 minutes to 80% and last 10,000 charges

Which phones have this?

While i jumped to Android after 7 years with Apple, few months ago. i've been using a Nexus 5 and was kind of looking forward to a not so expensive nexus device around the 4.95 screen size area. but this nexus 6 like has disappointed me.
Not every one like super giant phones. I thought Apple was wrong to ditch the 4 inchers, but Google has gone a step further by only offering a 6 inch device and nothing smaller. Plus i think Google is going the Apple way, set the $$$ high and people will run to it thinking its something really great.

Don't forget, unlike Apple, there are a plethora of different Android phones out there, with a massive range screen sizes. Just find the one that suits you best. Sounds like the new Moto X is what you want.

Android already dominates Apple in mobile device marketshare. You're comparing individual Android device companies but the real comparison is iOS v Android. Check out the aggregate sales of all Android smartphones versus iPhones

Is it though, it's you that mix up two different models, it's clear in your first sentence. iOS is inseparable from the device, Android is not. Apple makes both the OS and device, so why should you add up all other device companies and compare them agains one. iOS does not, and is not intended to, run on any other device so of course in terms of OS market share it's smaller, that's why it makes more sense to compare devices, because that is actually what Apple offers, it also happens to run their own OS.

I just wish apple invested more In Apple TV, seems they are not interested unless they can make big $$$$ from it.

That's not it. They definitely have big plans for Apple TV. The problem seems to be that their plans for it are just TOO big. they apparently want something that will upend the whole industry and change how people get TV content. The most persistent rumor about ATV in the last couple of years has been that they are trying to negotiate with content providers and cable companies to get popular premium cable channels directly to ATV, possibly without requiring cable TV subscription. This is of course extra hard and who knows if they'll manage it. The pending Time Warner/Comcast merger is also slowing things down according to rumors. But in the meantime they let ATV stagnate badly as they are probably saving any meaningful updates for that one "insanely great" product.
Nexus player has some features I've always wanted in my ATV such as unified content discovery. For 99$ I am thinking of giving it a try.

yay at nexus media player doing all the things people have been waiting way too long on the apple tv. they could have had such a big head start... now it's wasted.

Android already dominates Apple in mobile device marketshare. You're comparing individual Android device companies but the real comparison is iOS v Android. Check out the aggregate sales of all Android smartphones versus iPhones and the trend is clear: Apple are in decline. The trend is hidden for now because the entire smartphone market is growing, so Apple's sales grow despite taking a smaller slice of the growing pie.

There are over 500 million iOS devices out in the world right now... and more are being sold every day.

That's more than enough to sustain an ecosystem.

Sure... there will always be more devices running Android... but that doesn't mean iOS is some obscure platform.

There are PLENTY of garbage Android devices being sold today... so don't get too wrapped up in the market share numbers either. A good portion of Android's 85% market share is made up of terrible phones sold in developing nations that barely have 3G

Look... I get it... Android has a bigger number than iOS. It reminds me of Windows vs OSX.

But you can still buy a Macintosh today... and Apple is one of the more healthy computer manufacturers despite not having the volume of a Dell or HP

Anyway... it's weird to compare a single company/platform like Apple/iOS to a multi-manufacturer platform like Android.

But you knew that ;)

That Video had Apple all over it. Why must google always copy other companies, specifically Apple? I noticed it even more when google started using white backgrounds in their videos instead of their more colorful ones. Also, the way they present their products, that Nexus 9 picture, any of you seen the iPod touch page on the Apple website? The google logo with the aluminum look and slow motion graphics? Really? AND a price increase?
6" inch phone?:mad: ..sorry, i haven't slept in a while..i think i'll go and do that now before i bring Samsung into the mix.........:D

I think if Apple came out with a dedicated console it would sell like hotcakes however.

Not really. The gamer demographic HATES apple and they've been Microsoft/PC (Xbox and Windows) territory for decades.

Apple did make a game console back in the 90s i think, called the Pippin. I don't know how well it did but its a collectors item now.

Well I don't know how we can judge how hardcore gamers perceive Apple without them having a dedicated console, and also the fact that major game studios don't release their games on Mac until 3-4 years later.

Also I don't know much about the Pippin other than the fact I first heard about it in a Wikipedia article about 4 years ago.

I love NexusRumors.com! I just have to figure out where to find some Apple rumors and news online ...

whine whine whine, would you like some bread to go with that whine?

On another note regarding, I am totally up for some competition among products, so I'm not too bitter about androids.

android fans always brag about having the fastest hardware but their reality distortion field stops them from realizing that apple's A series SoC's are years ahead of anything else every time they get updated

Samsung just doesn't get it.

Don't they understand? It's not the number of megaflops or pixel steroids or octopus cores or next flavour all day gob suckers that really interests anyone when you compare Scamscum phones with Apple phones.

It the whole Apple 'thing' that you get when you buy an iPhone, and you just don't get that with other phones, especially those from Scamscum.
