The Nexus 6 is 1.1mm taller and 5.1mm wider than the iPhone 6+. There is very little difference between the two sizes. It is just the Nexus 6 has a much bigger screen due to having smaller bezels.

And they aren't forcing bigger phones. They are still offering the Moto G GPE at 4.5 inches and the Nexus 5 at close to 5 inches.

Good to see someone else doing research instead of spouting FUD. The N6 and 6+ are nearly the same physical dimensions, but the N6 better utilizes the frame to include a larger screen.

So,

The Nexus 6 has a 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805.
The Nexus 9 has a 64-bit 4+1-core nVidia Tegra K1.
The Nexus Player has a 64-bit 4-core Intel Atom.

Three products with 3 different processor architectures, all announced on the same day - and using 3 different graphics architectures (Adreno, Kepler, PowerVR).

It's impressive that Lollipop runs on all of the above ... but I can't wait to see these all get benchmarked against each other.

So why do competitors try to upstage Apple by releasing their wares a day before Apple? Upstaging Apple is impossible, and this ensures their announcement will be forgotten tomorrow. Why not wait until a month or more after the relevant Apple event once the hype has faded?

Because if they announce before the apple product they will get press in their own right. If they announce after the apple product they announcements will be compared with the apple product and if that comparison is unflattering the publicity is effectively negative publicity.

At least doing it this way they get some airtime before Apple sucks out all of the oxygen.

I seriously don't understand why EVERY tablet does not come with front-facing speakers. Extra points to the tablets that do.

In this case you are likely to cover both of them with your hands in landscape mode anyway. And stereo doesn't make much sense on a device that have no correct position.

How much is an unlocked iPhone?

If you price close to an iPhone, people might just opt for the iPhone. A la tablets.

The novelty of the Nexus was the price point. It allowed people to dip their toes into the platform for little cost. Now thats gone and the role goes to the Oneplus funny enough. A company few outside of the tech world have heard of.

A 6" phone at $650 is going to appeal to a very niche market.

it comes in black, white, and gold. what an original idea.

where are all the gold haters now!?

Something nobody's pointed out, from the Nexus page...

"Battery must be substantially depleted; charging rate slows as charging progresses."

I read this as it only charges fast if dead. If you're an average user who goes through the day and is sitting at 50%, don't expect any faster charging.

If the battery is 24 hours, this means the average user will see no benefit from this feature if charged nightly.

lol you people are something else...

you've got an excuse for EVERY apple drawback don't you?

the htc boomsound speakers put any mobile device's speakers to shame... but of course they are useless until an apple product comes along with something similar...

"i want mono-speakers because stereo-speakers are rude". yeah...

LOL on you! How the eff did this turn into my defending Apple? I was talking about all speakers on mobile devices. In a pinch, then use your mobile device's speakers. Sure they've come a long way since transistor radios of old, but I've listened several times to those HTC speakers at my local carrier and on my friend's HTC and in the end they are still phone speakers. They will NEVER match the QUALITY in sound as say from a good headphone or a BT speaker (Grain Audio in my case). Yeah for a phone they are loud, but in terms of quality vs. BT speakers/headphones? There is no comparison.

As for your quote "I want mono-speakers because stereo speakers are rude." it was the volume level I was referring to. I hope you're not one of those pricks in public who blast their music for all to hear. Whether it be mono or stereo, it's still a dick move to blast your music in public for others to hear.

what is the coincidence this is a '6' model and the font used to show it has the same pencil thinness of apple's ads? google makes up for what samsung has given up on.

And the iPhone 6 Plus costs $859 in Canada for Sixteen FEWER Megabytes. So what's your point? $750<$849. I'm teaching you math here.

More like $969, no point in getting a 16Gb phone. After tax you are looking at 250$ more for the iPhone 6+ in Canada. I also carriers will likely discount the nexus 6 much faster than the IPhone. If they could have priced this at $550 it would have been my next phone.

pricing is absolute joke on the phone and tablet.

Dude; a 16GB iPhone 6 plus is $749. The 32GB Nexus 6 is $650 with specs galore, unlockable bootloader and running super fast stock Android. No bloatware or lag.

I do agree that the tablet is over priced. 2GB in a $400 tablet is ridiculous; Oh wait!

You've posted 13 times in this thread, the vast majority of the posts being very defensive in nature. Are you feeling threatened or something?

About ?

i own a note 3 right now.....threatened no....disappointed....yes.

like the old saying goes....a fool and his money are soon parted.

What irritates me is that they try to copy style and functionality, while Apple copies dimensions. Software wise, pretty much everyone has copied parts of the jailbreak community.

look familiar?

An update to this model would ave been the sensible thing to do, if they were going to keep this size.
Clearly though, they have a lot of last years old stock.

Even a slight spec bump for the battery and fix other bugs would have been a good enough reason for me to upgrade from my nexus 5

there is battery technology now that can charge a battery in 2 mins to 70% and last 10k cycles.

Yeah, we keep hearing about this, but it doesn't help me any unless it's in a product that I can buy. It would help more if it was in a product that I could use. It would help most if it was in a product I want.

(What's even weirder is it seems to be getting worse... earlier it was 80% in 2 minutes, now it is 70% in 2 minutes...)

specs do matter...oh wait...they don't.

iphones do not have bloatware....or lag.

there boot loaders don't need to be unlocked either.

a little research could help you out.

Absolutely NO coincidence at all, because Google's Nexus range has ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS been named as number's I.E. Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 6, Nexus 10, Nexus 9.

And every one of those numbers is the screen size of the device, unlike Apple's naming convention, I don't ever remember their being an iPad 8 or iPad 9.7?

i am not debating whether or not they sound better than headphones.

given the choice, though, id rather have stereo htc boomsound than lousy speakers at the bottom of the phone.

perhaps you dont want to deploy your headphones or they are not with you when you play a game or watch a youtube video and those speakers do make a difference.
