Google is setting the bar high for Apple at WWDC.

Siri needs to take a leap forward this year. Integration with AppleWatch and AppleTV could bring the benefits of a home assistant without the need for a separate device.

I'd like to be able to lift my wrist and ask Siri: "Show me my calendar on my AppleTV" or "Play Beats 1 in the Living Room". An updated AppleTV with a mic built in could also respond to Hey Siri from across the room. Apple has the pieces of the puzzle. They need to put it together.
Apple is ready for it!
Another 0.001 shaved from the iPhone thickness!
Headphone jack removed!
Now line up at the nearest Apple Store to get the new phone!

I decided to watch the Google keynote for the first time ever this year. God, what a cringeworthy experience. I turned it off.

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Pinchai, your name is no easier to pronounce. At least, Iñárritu has got the charm and a cute accent unlike you.

You sound like that guy at Trump rallies that's only there to hate on him.

Instead of judging the people, judge the content.

Switched from a Nexus 5 to an iPhone 6s a little over a month ago. And while iOS has a more finished, polished look, the above statement is spot on.

Goggle Now blows Spotlight right out of the water. Apple Maps still blow chunks compared to Google Maps. I still miss the notification icons at the top of the phone. And the very simplicity of having a clock come on when I charge the phone. Built-in the OS. As it is, I nee a third party app for my alarm clock. And to remember to start it manually at night.

Overall I like iOS better, but it still lacks behind in many aspects.
The day that Google Now is interchangeable with Siri will be a great day for the end user.

i thought he was making fun of his own accent rather than the directors name.

exactly this is coming. just few days now. siri has taken a big leap, they are just putting all the api together so system-wide access will work.

Google Assistant is built for conversation using speech with you, Google Now used cards to show relevant information. It is MILES and I mean MILES ahead of Siri.
Where did I mention Siri? Why not just incorporate Google assistant into Google Now or combine the two? And why create a video calling and messaging app when Hangouts already exists?

It's clear and sad Apple is the catcher now. Behind Google, behind Microsoft, and even kinda behind Amazon.

Apple should release something like Echo or Google Home and try to surpsise us by being better.

Google Allo is a bunch of simple ideas but with a brilliant implementation. iMessage can be improved and should become cross platform.

Macrumors comment section is awesome. Apple announces news, nothing but vitriol. Google makes some pretty boring announcements, everyone is getting in line to give Sergey Brin a reach-around. On a Mac forum. Good stuff.

Maybe because Apple looks more and more boring as each year passes while Google is actually making big strides on their OS, VR, and AI? Just a thought.

Wishful thinking... Im still waiting for the day when i can grab my phone and use to touch ID to unlock my Mac... Like you said apple has all the pieces, they just need to put them together and with Tim Cook i doubt they ever will....

Where is google headed with all this? Seems like they're throwing an awful lot against the wall. I guess the people at google are much smarter than I am and understand where it's all going.

Tell us some apple news that has been exciting! Don't tell us about how 9.3.2 is bricking iPad Pro devices. That's not a very exciting news!

Hangouts is crap? Perhaps they realise that and their users don't like it, so they listen to their customers and make changes. It looks like a very nice neat simple solution.

And I think you need to watch the video to see how it all works. They did a fair bit of explanation about it all. It is incredible integration.

Google, innovating even more ways to collect personal information from its users. Nice...
What's is the harm in that as long as it's improving my life and improving my daily life experience when it comes to using google products? I give some to get some, no?

This is real innovation!
Google leaving Apple in the dust!
Tim Cook is too busy pandering to communist China to actually innovate!
Cook is is busy in India trying to save the company instead of innovating like Google!
Apple spent too much time on watch bands to innovate!
Cook is going to be fired!
Steve Jobs would have never let this happen!
Apple still offers 16GB!
Switching to Android and Google services!
Apple is falling behind!
Apple is doomed!
Apple is too busy wasting time on an electric car to innovate!

All of those things are true or seem to be coming true. I know you're trying to be funny with a thread preemption, but that won't change the reality of Apple as the company stands today and has been trending for years. I feel bad for Apple shareholders.

Google and Amazon aren't leaving Apple in the dust. Apple isn't even in the race! They decided they were a fashion company with social justice aspirations.

Well fashion trends change and what was fashionable yesterday is unfashionable today.

Beats lol...

Wow, I was really expecting to come here and see people are unimpressed as I was but apparently, I stand corrected.

You made ANOTHER messaging app? Yes, because that's what we all need. And then you made FaceTime for Android. Round of applause. Oh but wait! You can "whisper shout" now. Instant Android Apps seem like a privacy problem. Sure, you're not installing the entire thing but you're still putting pieces of the code on local devices without any sort of user permissions given.

Google Home seems interesting.

Was really hoping for some Chrome/Chrome OS news but I think I heard one mention of Chrome in the full 2 hour presentation.

Maybe you need to learn how to use the phone? You don't need a third party alarm clock - the built in one works great... and you don't have to set it manually at night.
I switched too, and found Apple Maps was more accurate, which was completely unexpected.

So far I have to say this whole thread is filled with trolls.
