The responsibility to make apple devices work seamlessly together should fall under Apple not third party app developers... That's where Google and Microsoft, Samsung and Amazon are leaving our belovedly Apple behind

Yes, but in your example you cannot expect Apple to support Samsung devices OOTB (out of the box). Apple says if you want the best experience with their products, buy their other products.

Pissed off Google haters incoming...

I don't see that anymore on here.. Fans, customers, shareholders, and general tech followers are really questioning what the hell is wrong with Apple these days.

I see that people are looking at products like Google Home, Amazon echo, and wondering what the hell was Tim thinking when Apple TV 4 was released. I see people frustrated at Apple before** hating on other companies that are innovating.

Anyways, good on Google. I really like the idea of Duo. We have lots of video chats, but I know not many friends of mine still have iphones, so my imessage buddies are few and far between.

What are you on about? Apple or any third-party app readily available on iOS / Mac has had these capabilities for ages.

Google Home - Home Kit Not the same as the Home offering (ie Google Home does so much more)
Allo - iMessage, FaceBook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram or pick any other IM app that has been out for ages (iMessage not supported on Android, not a standard. Apple does not make third party services)
Duo - FaceTime / FaceTime Audio Not supported on Android
Android N - Same as any iOS update OS is not a service

see my comments

Also, you forgot that
Google Photos > Photos which is still the biggest solution.

Was hoping to see a lot more from Google regarding Android N. At this stage however, both Marshmallow and iOS are already equals.
It's getting kinda funny how Google is constantly ripping off iOS features in their next Android version and how Apple does the same thing. We'll all end up with two operating systems that are pretty much identical.

Google is setting the bar high for Apple at WWDC.

Siri needs to take a leap forward this year. Integration with AppleWatch and AppleTV could bring the benefits of a home assistant without the need for a separate device.

I'd like to be able to lift my wrist and ask Siri: "Show me my calendar on my AppleTV" or "Play Beats 1 in the Living Room". An updated AppleTV with a mic built in could also respond to Hey Siri from across the room. Apple has the pieces of the puzzle. They need to put it together.

So... are you asking for a separate device, so you don't use your Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPad, iPhone, and now, Mac?

Real innovation!

Can't wait until that thing starts serving me ads based on what people at my home speak!

LOL. This is the most reaching post so far.

Provide concrete examples of "actual services" that already have what Google presented today.

Google can't innovate? Gee, where have I heard that said about Apple before? Oh, right here on MR!

If Google can't innovate, how come they are leading AI, VR, and search?

Show me a search engine as good as Google.

Stop hating on a company that influences people's daily lives just like Apple with no factual reasoning.

So Apple only needs to think of some new tech, release a half-assed demo and then we can talk how Apple is innovating and leading and google is behind.

Logic made of vibranium.

Maybe you need to learn how to use the phone? You don't need a third party alarm clock - the built in one works great... and you don't have to set it manually at night.
I switched too, and found Apple Maps was more accurate, which was completely unexpected.

So far I have to say this whole thread is filled with trolls.

Reading comprehension 101. I don't set the alrm manually, I have to start the 3rd party app to have a clock display all night. Does the built in one automatically displays a clock all night? Didn't think so. To show a clock all night I need a third party app. Hey, fair enough. But it would be nice to have a setting for an action when charging.

Apple maps, right. I live on an East-West street. About 500 feet from main North-South. Every time I need to go North or South, Google Maps has me get out of my driveway, turn right, going East for 500' and then turn right or left on the main street. Apple Maps has me turn left, going West for 1/4 mile, left, going south for 1/8 mile, left again going back East for 1/4 mile, then left or right on the main street. If it can't figure out that simple move, I just can't trust it anywhere else.

Hangouts has potential to be that. My friends are slowly starting to use it more.

Hangouts already support two major universal standards, voice to/from landline/cellular and SMS/MMS. Best of all it's free and unlimited to North America over any data like WIFI. I don't even touch my carrier minutes anymore. It also supports multiline so I have separate business and personal # and my #s can appear/ring on multiple devices.

True. In the end, it's good to have equal competition hopefully spurring each other on for greater innovation for our end benefit! I personally own an iPhone 6 Plus and a Nexus 6. I love them both for different reasons, and both are great devices.

I think this is more useful. How many times have you been sitting on the sofa and remember to do something or add something to your shopping list.

Being able to say 'OK Google, add baked beans to my shopping list'

If Apple did do such a device I'd get that in a heartbeat but I'd love an Echo but it's not available in the UK. If Home comes here I'm all over that like a tramp on chips!

I'm totally with you on that one! If the Echo was launched here I would be grabbing it.

Please, elaborate on exactly what features they are 'ripping off' from iOS...

Some things, yes, but I saw more things taken from Amazon! The split screen thing was a Samsung idea from way back before Apple, I think picture in picture was too, it was on Android devices before iOS had it I think.

I wish Apple would copy some of things Android does with it's integration!

Obligatory "when did this become AndroidRumors?" comment
When the Mac Rumors became so horribly depressing :(.

I recently left Android to come back to iOS after a long vacation, and am pretty sure I will be going back if the next iPhone & iOS update is just more of the same. What happened to the innovation? Apple is just sitting on a mountain of money while releasing these sad, incremental updates. GIVE ME A WATERPROOF IPHONE ALREADY!

That's a good thing. It means when people wish to switch the friction is much lower. With the way iOS is nowadays, Android is looking more and more appealing. It took Apple 6 months just to make iOS 9 performance on par with 8.4.

The fact that Apple's services aren't available on Android doesn't make the feature or idea any different. Both companies have a very different earning model and that's the only reason why Google services are so readily available on iOS. On top of that there are more than enough third-party cross-platform solutions today that do the pretty much the same thing as those apps introduced by Google. It's just more of the same.

That's why Apple can't offer same services without mining data.
That's why Apple can't offer the same services without mining data as much. FTFY;)

People want Siri to do things beyond pedestrian tasks like the oft' quoted "set timers". Those advanced features require a give an take between vendor and customer. For all the privacy hand wringing on this site, most of the people I've engaged 1. Can't address the issue intelligently beyond saying the word 'privacy' as if it's an all encompassing blanket. 2. Don't know the difference between selling ad space and selling customer data. 3. Don't realize Apple does the same data mining. Siri could be much better. I have no doubt about that. Sometimes I think Apple uses the privacy as an excuse not to upgrade Siri to a fuller potential.

And the very simplicity of having a clock come on when I charge the phone. Built-in the OS. As it is, I nee a third party app for my alarm clock. And to remember to start it manually at night.

There is an alarm clock built-in in iOS's Clock app. What's wrong with that? No need to start it manually or ... start it at all. Set the days/times and forget it. And to see the time when the phone is charging - one simple push of the home button. Much better than an always-on screen.

The only thing about Apple's iOS alarm clock that needs improvement - a separate volume control from the ringtone volume. I like my ringtone at the lowest level, but that alarm volume won't guarantee me waking up in the morning. So each evening I need to increase that by 2-3 clicks. Not that it is difficult, but still...

It was just an example... We still can't use out iPhones to take full advantage of our Apple TV.. Yes i know there is a remote app and air play but really???

Why? Are you sexist then? Sounds like you obviously are, a member of the 'boy's only club'.

Oh no, someone called Apple out because it never has Women front and centre at it's speeches.... oh how ridiculous...

And I'm a straight man.

I'm pretty sure Google attracts THE best in the industry. But when Tim Cook uses Apples name to support Human Rights and Gay Rights I think he should be promoting Women a lot more too.

Or he could just promote the products and services that Apple is improving/releasing and leave the sexism out entirely? Are you really so naive to believe that Apple wouldn't put a female project manager on the stage if said project was being featured? Or did you not watch the latest keynote, with one of the largest announcements of the day (LIAM) being announced by a woman?

Here's something to think about: maybe the people perpetuating this pointless conversation are the true sexists. Are you going to call them racist next because Tim Cook is white?

I see VR services in there.

You and I both know Google will find even better ways to sync your phone with your garage, door, TV, thermostat, etc than Tim Cook the clown would at Apple. Google likes to take risks with their products, which I respect.

It would be nice to have a special control and valve system for the shower/bathtub where I can turn the water on and it keeps the temperature of the water steady, maybe turns on the Jacuzzi if your tub has that feature, and automatically shuts off when it reaches 3/4 of the way full with your voice and a voice recognition system--which would be great for those who have a busy life and kids. Perhaps a standard feature of Google Home in near future will be the ability to purchase a heating blanket or mattress pad so you can set it to a certain temperature, have it cool down a little as you progress through the night, and then have it shut off at an exact time right from your smart phone or with your voice.

^^ These are the things I trust Google to make. Not the moron who likes to pinch pennies and hide behind the stage at lackluster Keynote events while his marketing guy talks out of his butt.
