After many years this is the first time I'm considering going back to android. I really do love the design of these phones and I don't understand why people (especially ANDROID USERS) complain about that camera bump. They're using Chinese phones that have camera bumps that are literally as big as half of the phone, like what?
iPhone, galaxy and pixel phones have the best looking camera bumps. Yes, they're still big but at least they look simple and elegant.

And the best part (for me, as an European) is the fact that I can get Pixel 9 Pro 256gb and Pixel Watch 3 45mm for literally almost the same price as iPhone 15 Pro 128gb.

iPhone's getting really boring, they're overpriced in Europe and they don't have lots of features in Europe that are available in the USA - for example AI (that I don't even care about) but Google and Samsung have and somehow they're fine with DMA.
Gotta be honest the only thing I'd be missing from iPhone right now is MagSafe lol

why would anybody pay iphone prices for not an iphone level product? lol
"Software" that's why and I do own an iPhone. I'm still waiting for Apple to actually catch up to Google's call screener or Hold for Me, or help you with a companies phone maze. And not everyone is paying iPhone prices. I just picked up a Pixel 9 XL with a two year old Pixel phone as a trade in and got $740 in credit. So it's $1099-$740=359.

Had a pixel 3a and as great as a phone it was for the price, including the camera (software)…it had some bizarre quirks and features. A well known issue is the phone will freeze up then shut off. When you go to turn it back on, it just cycles the loading screen for a few moments and then shuts off. It will never make it beyond the boot screen. The fix to this? I kid you not…you start tapping the back of the phone with your fingers on one hand while you turn the power on with the other. It will suddenly boot up all the way and then function properly. Truly bizarre issue Google had with that phone model. I like their phones and think they’re solid for the price for the most part but kind of lost interest in them after dealing with that.

Not a big fan of the design the camera bump is horrible. The base model has more ram than the entry level Macbook Pro and $300 to go from 9 to 9 Pro XL

Because Android phones are that good these days. I bought an S24 Ultra back in March and I'm still using my 13 Pro Max for my iPhone. There has been nothing Apple has done in the past two years to make me want upgrade my iPhone and I will skip this years as well.

iPhone isn't all that it used to be these days.

I'm hoping someone make a barebones ROM for these phones with the AI stripped out. That would remove the most unreliable component of the system and give me a lot of extra RAM to multitask.😎

For those who don't know, you can go full android with zero Google presence: Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and MicroG (replacement for GApps/services). It would probably be difficult or impossible on a Pixel, but certainly doable on non-Pixel phones.
I use GrapheneOS on my Pixel. All I missed was airdrop, but now with the app LocalSend, I have similar functionality.

So, Google saw Conversation Awareness, and created Conversation Detection.
They saw two models of Pro phone, and created two models of Pro phone.
They saw Genmoji and Image Playground, and created Pixel Studio.
They saw a 5X telephoto, and created a 5X telephoto.
They saw email and message summaries, and created... email and message summaries.
They saw call recording, and created Call Notes.
They saw Emergency SOS via Satellite, and created Satellite SOS.
They saw Vitals and Training Load, and created... Daily Readiness and Cardio Load.

Oh, but they came up with the idea of... being able to add fake wildflowers to a photo of an open field.
Genius.
Not for nothing… they beat genmoji to release wink

The only thing I miss from my old Pixel 4 is the crystal-clear camera quality, Pixels really have something good going there.

The watch tho, I still hate that smallish round shape with a passion - either make it bigger or move to a rounded rectangle, the display just doesn't work as is.
They did make it bigger….

We're entering a new era of falsification and alternative realities…

In this example, what was the reality? The actual situation or the faked version AI augmented with an unrealistic sunset and even extra rocks in the sea?
Do these people convince themselves that that was the actual memory?

Pathetic.

I hope one day people will look back at this and ask themselves, "What were we thinking?"

PS.
And no, before the apologists chime in, this is not the same as previous Photoshop alterations.

This is off the scale fakery.

I agree, it is impressive that the technology CAN do this, and I can see valid commercial use cases, but why a normal person would want to completely falsify their own personal images for anything more than fun is odd to me. But to each their own.

Look, Samsung had to put in 12 GB of RAM on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and that's on a phone initially without Gemini AI support. Given the heavy integration of Gemini AI into the Pixel 9 Pro/XL models, I'm not surprised Google has to use 16 GB of RAM to make everything run smoothly, given the way Android "cleans up" RAM compared to the iOS method.

I do agree they are nice phones, but I really wonder how fast is the Tensor G5 SoC. Will it be faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3?

You should really give Android a try. I used to HATE Android. However, Android OS is leaps and bounds better than it was even 4 years ago and I actually prefer Android over iOS now. iOS on the other hand, has been going downhill over the past 5 years. For reference, I owned every iPhone from the 4 to the 12PM.
