I heard a rumor that Motorola might be announcing a Lawsuit against Google next friday.

Not really a point right now. The CDMA version isn't released yet (they said March, right?) and it's not really usable on AT&T. So you're stuck with T-Mobile right now, which actually kind of sucks. Their 3G network might be alright in some cities, but if you live somewhere else, you're pretty much busted.

btw, the iPhone can be used with multiple carriers, too. At least outside the US. Or you unlock it.

well technically the nexus one can be used on any gsm carrier even att with no 3g of course without the need for unlocking.

Since apple is locked to crappy AT&T, looks like my next phone will be this one. Definately going to give the iPhone a run for the money. Guess apple shouldn't have had google on there board as it looks kind of similar to the iPhone.

Yeh...and a Ferrari looks kinda similar to a Camry. They both have 4 wheels

Not Really., I paid $49 for my Refurb 16Gb Iphone, 450 Minutes + data add a 17% discount = $1393.44+$49= 1442.44 over 24 months plus lots of taxes

I think it is funny that Motorola and HTC seem to have no issue making a CDMA and GSM version of the same phone, but we have been told time and time around here that it is too hard for Apple to do the same thing. They just can't make a phone that will work on CDMA carriers because it is too hard or would cost too much.

Who of Apple said that and when? And how is that "funny"?
It is quite obvious that they simply didn't want to release a CDMA iPhone so far for political reasons. It has nothing to do with being hard or oh so expensive. You said it yourself, everyone else can built two versions quite easily. Even a company like Palm that is a bit short on cash.

Yes technically it's possible. If that is your point.
Do you know anyone who would buy a $529 smartphone in 2009 to surf on EDGE speed?

Uh wait for 32Gb Card... Is that so hard?? So much smug here (southPark rules)

May be there will never be a 32gb mcroSD card. Sandisk annouced this version in Feb 2009. But it has never been able to deliver one.

"microSD cards are available in capacities from 64 MB to 16 GB. A 12 GB version was developed by SanDisk but never released.[4] In February 2009 Sandisk also announced a 32 GB version for the second half of 2009,[5] but as per end December 2009 it is not listed yet."

By the time we hit the next iphone announcement.... will they need to do much more again? I think we'll see a new case design, faster processor, more ram, better battery life, better camera, larger OLED screen and of course the next firmware update....

Or, it will be a 3Gs but 1mm thinner.

You've just won the prize for the least useful comparison ever. Let's just hope you'll never be appointed to make comparison charts...

i love seeing all the iphone fanboys saying how iphone is still the best.

It's not just the fanboys. Even Engadget sounds a bit disappointed and they are guilty of being Apple fanboys the same way Fox are Obama fanboys.

What exactly is "the best" anyway? The best for you, the best for me, the best for Grandpa Paul? The Nexus is a good phone and if you look at the vote count for the news, a lot more people voted positive. On an Apple fanboy site.

Funny thing though is that our company bought 3000 iPhones and we are going to discontinue all of them due to new security measures implemented at the workplace. IF we cannot push security policies to our phones via AD or a Server these phones are nothing but fancy iPods.

Whoever decided to buy iPhones in your company should be fired for incompetence. It's not really big news that the iPhone is not a corporate device and can't integrate into AD and security management landscapes very well.

obviously it is for grandpa paul!!! :p

yea i guess ur right

actually yes i do lol. but that is beside the point. i was merely stating that to the poster above me at the time that the nexus one is in fact available to multiple carriers without an unlocking, thats all.

And that matters how? Google is saying their phone is compatible with 32GB MicroSD cards. It's a statement about a technical limitation, not an advertised capacity. Anyone who gets one counting on 32GB of storage without first making sure they can actually find a 32GB MicroSD card to purchase is extremely unintelligent. I also can't think of any reason anyone would need 32GB. Want, yes. Need, no.

Seriously? Do you not a have music collection? My music collection is ever growing plus aps and what not, 32gb just barely suffices right now and i will be in the market for 64gb when available

That's because it is. Two years later and all the competition can do is churn out an iPhone clone with comparable specs but lousy-ass software and bad UIs. Doesn't make for much "competiiton", but it sure makes for fun headlines every six months or so.

Hey it's all fun and games until the next iPhone update, not that these also-rans are anything really competitive now. At least we'll know where most of these copycat devices will be after that: ebay.

So eBay is just a wasteland for crappy, unwanted non-iPhone devices people are looking to unload, eh? Whoops! Better buy all the iPhones quick so people don't notice! ;) :p Don't want to let the fact of demand (search) and supply (search results) get in the way there.

To the fanboys

... who keep banging on about what Apple will bring in July:

This is january!!

If you remove the tunnel vision you will see that Android has had something like 3 SIGNIFICANT updates in 2009.

Do you honestly think there will be none to Android by JULY??? When the new iPhone/Iphone OS will be approaching??

And seriously how many keynote speeches have we had fromm Steve Jobs with millions whining on this forum about modest speedbumps "nike + iphone" features etc? Theres no guarantee that there will be something super advanced.

Lets face it Apple are not known for being at the cutting edge of hardware (design yes, mostly), preferring pretty packaging, sheen and BIG margins.

Not to mention what makers like HTC have in store to release themselves with Sense UI which is way ahead of iphone os-- which is like 3 years old now and boring as hell?!

"First of many handsets" were Googles words today.

App storage will also be fixed, with encryption allowing storage to SD, confirmed by Google today.

It will be interesting to see what Apples update is as many have noted how dry the whole setup is getting and needs a refresh. I will be getting an N1 very shortly, unlocked, however not being a fanboy of either will be keeping an eye on new iphone and if significantly better than the OS 3.0 will probably get that too, simple.

Fixed your post. And you're wrong about lousy and bad too. A lot of people enjoy the Android UI and like the fact that you can have widgets on the home screen. This is something missing from the iPhone. Why have to unlock it and open up apps like Calendar, Mail or Weather to get info that could be easily summarized on the locked home screen ?

Also, why do you need to Jailbreak to change the black background behind the icons ? You'd think in 2010, Apple would've figured out how to make a non-confusing UI to set the background to another color or to a picture from your library...

Does anyone seriously need their entire multi gigabyte music collection on the go at all times?

Most people tend to listen to a pretty narrow selection during any period ie. this particular artist you like, maybe flipping to another genre for a bit of a break. Who has the time to listen to 64gbs of mp3's on the go, and dont you still just skip loads over?

I can see the ultra convenience of never having to bother, and it looking cool flicking through gigs of media, but I cant see why you couldnt just copy select playlists.

There will never be a 64 GB microSDHC card

And that matters how? Google is saying their phone is compatible with 32GB MicroSD cards.

microSDHC has a hardware limit of 32 GB (same as SDHC).

The next generation is microSDXC, with a physical limit of 2 TB. These haven't been seen in the wild yet, should be around by summer.
