Like usb c?
I was gonna try it too, then I discovered it’s running software from Google.I’m actually giving serious thought to trying out the pixel 8pro this year on my second line just to try something new. I have a 4a and it’s a great little device.
You couldn't make it worse if you tried.the absolutey awful Micro USB
Pretty sure it’s not the point. Google can’t attack other android makers but it actually has slow market share in android. This allows it to get attention (we are talking about it on an apple focused site) and increase marketshare which it has been successful in doing over past few version.I'm sure Apple is so scared of the Pixel....😆
That’s a great point also if the iPhone doesn’t get usb-c it will be super funny. To me this almost reads like an ad for iPhone? Albeit a bad one.
Now more people will know the iPhone is getting USB-C. I could see that swaying a few holdouts.
Also Google cancel so many of their products. I do respect apple is not so waffly. They do cancel feature and products but it’s usually towards another purpose. Some few exceptions would be things like 3D Touch, 32bit support but that was more toward an end (Haptic Touch with more battery space, apple silicone transition) some times it’s for more dubious reasons (driving AirPod sales by getting rid of headphone jack was courages move to line investor pockets). What else is new? They’ve mocked Apple forever and then followed apples lead on a ton of things. Making their position totally irrelevant. Them “mocking” is just advertising nobody cares about
The difference was those Apple ads were designed to remind people that Apple was a good alternative to Microsoft and not a dead product like most assumed. They managed to awaken some curiosity and once the IPhone came along those values were magnified and the Mac was revived. When is somebody going to corner these marketing grads and shake them awake? Watch Apple's ads and then look at this one (and the endless Samsung ads) and honestly answer the question: which one seems confident and which one comes off like a defensive and cringy little brother? Obviously everybody's not an Apple Fan, and not everybody prefers Apple's products... but there's over a decade of now of Apple adverts that highlight the products and their design/philosophy. And on the flipside, dozens of Samsung and Google ads pointing out all the superfluous "check box" features that iPhone doesn't have, and in all likelihood will be dropped from the next Galaxy too. Remember back in 2014, when everybody was bumping playlists to strangers on the street? Well, neither do I but Samsung sure was selling that snake oil.
The irony is that even this marketing style is kinda sorta cribbed from Apple too, from the Mac Vs PC ads. Which I didn't find persuasive back in the day either, but hey at least they had Justin Long and John Hodgeman.
It's a pretty safe bet Apple will be moving to USB-C as they already stated they will comply with the EU charging port law.
More like headphone jack. 🎧Thunderbolt? ⚡️
The problem with these 'adverts' from Google, Samsung, is that they talk constantly about features but not the benefits. One of the first rules of salesmanship is that the two go hand-in-hand.
Like Uunblurring photos is honestly hot garbage most of the time, so much so that Google and Samsung's adverts even have small print that says it may not work on all photos.
It is crazy to me how often Google pushes translate in the US, as if all we do with devices is try communicating with people we ordinarily cannot. As you said, it is a cool feature, but I use translate maybe once a year and when I do it is on web, not conversationally. Not much benefit. Translate appealing to other regions makes a lot more sense to me, where much contact is between languages. Google's Universal Translator deepfaking could be very useful in the future... At any rate, translate itself is not limited to Android, heaven forbid you have to type or dictate the message manually. It bewilders me Google markets translate as a notable feature in this ad."Now it seems like every time I turn around, phones like you are doing stuff I can't, like unblurring old photos, answering unknown calls with AI, and live translating messages... it's exhausting. But I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve."
I like using Image Capture on Mac because you can transfer photos and videos and then delete them from your iPhone or iPad with a few clicks. It’s several more taps to do all that over AirDrop. To be honest, I use AirDrop to transfer stuff now. I can transfer a 1.6GB file to my M2 MacBook Pro in <20 seconds.
That’s a great point also if the iPhone doesn’t get usb-c it will be super funny.
Sure, but the ad’s thrust seems to be that the iPhone 15 is boring. Well, clearly, the iPhone 15 is exciting enough that Google is preemptively defending against it.
The most adorable kick back against Apple the competition has done ever.I dont like google one bit, but it was funny and kind of true.
