If restricted to android phones, you do tend to naturally get android phones on the list. That is how sets work. It turns out that 100% of app users who also use android phones also use android phones. While this may seem like an amazing coincidence, it really isn't all that surprising.

Either way, #1 doesn't always mean 'highest sales.' I certainly didn't say that. The total of this list is 95.2%, meaning that IF the list included iOS devices and ALL the phones not listed were Apple, that would be 4.8%. placing them just after Huawei and far ahead of Google. Is it your position that Apple is better than Google and both are worse than Huawei based on this one graph?

The post I replied to talked about who you hit if you're #2, 3 or later. I'm pointing out that Google is not #2.

iPhone really has no innovations, and hasn't had them for a while.

"dynamic island' is a gimmick, nobody talks about how cool this feature is. It's just...there. Use a Android phone with a hole punch camera and then use the iPhone, the dynamic island is huge

The only feature that Apple offers is that they won't implement RCS and that makes conversations worse between Android phones and discourages people from switching. That's it. Very boring and lame.

Isn't that what people want from a phone?
If that were the case Apple wouldn't have spent 30 mins last year hyping up a marginal feature like "dynamic island" as if it's the best thing since the invention of the iPhone.

My peers just want a phone that does phone stuff. I don't think that the average person views a phone with excitement. They just use it to get stuff done. They replace the phone when it doesn't do what they need it to do because it's 5-7 years old. My main criteria for my last phone was that it be small and light. I didn't care about much else.

Do you get excited at your washing machine? Your car? Your shoes? Your housekeys? Most of this stuff is just stuff you buy and then don't think about again until it stops working.

Hey Google,

Can you remind me how I can get a software update for my 3 year old phone (Google only recently promised to offer updates for longer periods of time, Pixel only) ..... or when I can expect a full days worth of battery life (no really) ... or a tablet that is worth buying and is a laptop replacement for many ,or a full featured desktop OS ... and how you'll tie all those things together

Yeah I've decided I'll be switching to android if Apple doesn't come out with a foldable in the next two years.
Good luck finding an Android folding phone where the screen lasts two years. I've seen friends folding phones, novel idea, not ready for prime time.

Have you ever tried Snapdrop? 😉
Without installing anything ? AirDrop works across versions/platforms ... Nothing to Install.

I tend to find the mocking Apple videos very lame and silly. It's all been done years ago, get over it.

However...

The USB C thing is a joke and they deserve derision. About damned time

Well, although the message is true, the strategy is wrong. Mock a competitor for what they still don't have, not what they finally have. If you mock a competitor for what they are finally getting, although you are right in that they have been behind, you are advertising that they are catching up, so that they are removing one reason for not getting that product. In other words, this helps get the word out that coming up there is one less reason to avoid iPhone, if the USB-C thing is what's holding you back.
Hahah true but maybe the strategy is more to affirm existing Android customers. Make them feel superior to Apple customers so that they’re less prone to switch sides. It could also give first time smartphone buyers the idea that Android is where you get cutting edge tech. They may lose some people for whom usbc was the deciding factor, but maybe the net effect is positive.

yes and what is a good cheap new phone cost on apple’s website?
a lot more than a samsung a54 which is around 300 usd and with a large sdcard 512gb as an add on you are under 350

the se iphone is over 500 usd and goes up to 256gb
the 12 iphone is over 600 usd and goes up to 256gb
you need the 13 and you have to spend 899 to get 512gb storage.

I understand that at times if you have a business showing off a highend phone is good but reality is apple cant touch the samsung a54 price+performance wise.

Since they are far more money to beat it. ie the iphone 13 with 512gb beats a samsung a54 with a 512gb sd card.

but is 899 vs 325.

I think that the idea is that if you're #21, you compare yourself to someone lower on the rung. Maybe not 1, 2, 3.
If you want to be the best, you compare yourself to the best (unless you are racing to the number 28 slot).

If you're already the best, you don't have to say it.

In testing the port is fine but having the fragile effect tongue on the expensive part is just such dumb engineering. Thank goodness for wireless and induction charging
Yup, just as with all usb ports, that plastic tongue is the point of failure. Seen plenty of usb a ports in the past with it broken. You would think that they would learn.
