No, its not just a phone, its a smartphone... a mini computer. People who have previously used smartphone expect Cut and Paste.

Yup, but 98% of users (minimum) don't.

Which is why apple didn't focus on it as a primary target. I'll tell you something the iPhone does better than any other smartphone on the market - make telephone calls in as few steps as possible.

People who see their (often minority) requirements as must have features and can't get themselves v. the rest of users in perspective always bring a wry smile to my face.

I think you misunderstand the concept of a patent. It doesn't mean that others can't employ the technology outlined within the document, it simply means that one must pay to do so (with the permission of the patent holder).

Not sure what you are getting at.

A patent provides the patentee with an exclusive monopoly for 20 years from the effective filing date. In other words, it gives the patentee the right to exclude others from practicing the patent. If the patentee wishes, the patentee can prevent all others from practicing the patent - there is no rule that the patentee has to allow others to practice the patent in exchange for money.

Of course, if the patentee wants to, the patentee can license the patent, but the patentee is under no legal obligation to do so.

BIG NAME Devs are okay, but some have lost drive and passion and act solely like pre madonnas now. Just look at the "BIG NAMES" that complained about the App Store... Small developers drive the industry IMO, their creativity and passion builds the communities

If that's the case, then a lot of them may never make it to Android, or may be very late in doing so, simply because of their limited manpower and still having to maintain and update their existing iPhone applications.

So what happened to the Nexus One after all?

It was a hot topic for about a week and that's it.

While I see your point, I'm not buying a phone for the rest of the world. I'm buying one for myself, and if it doesn't have what I need, then I look elsewhere. I really can't be too concerned about what non-tech people and novices can and can't figure out. I need what works for me.

It does look like google will be providing a much bettter web experience with its pads than the ipad with multitouch, multitasking, and flash.

Really - 'cause i thought google had made a very strong statement with regard to flash support following appalling performance on the nexus (my nexus no longer supports flash, it got rid of my most of my issues with the device), and Nokia had just dropped google 'lite' (wtf?!) from one of it's platforms? I love how you're comparing vaporware with a product you've never used. What are you using as your basis for comparison? What are you using to judge these two devices?! How are you getting on with google OS?

LMAO.

I'll answer that one for ya:

THE NEXUS ONE IS DEAD.

In other words, it's an irrelevant copycat POS that sells 1/100th of what the iPhone does in the same period of time...no wonder they are excited about getting "pinch and zoom" as if it were the second coming...expectations must be really low down there

Of course you do, and that is your right.

My point was that simply because Apple doesn't make something which meets your every requirement, it doesn't make it a poor device.

Nexus is getting flash, and no I doesnt already have it.

FULL TOUCH = NO KEYBOARD OR STYLUS thus you had a NON-FULL TOUCH DEVICE

As I said, I took my keyboard off (which the device was made for if wanted by the customer: there is a part in the manual which describes how to do that) and, as said, I used it with my fingers.
So apart from the scroll wheel on the side it was fully touch.

And don't get me on the scroll wheel, because then I will attack you with the home button, the volume buttons, mute button and the sleep/wake button :D

You are lying. Your assumption is American government does not lie. This is a lie.

How can an assumption be a lie? A lie requires an incorrect statement of fact, known to the speaker to be false, for the purpose of deceiving the recipient of the statement.

I may get derisived for this but I have no problem staying in the Apple eco-system, I notice what the competition platform has but it's really a nascent set of users IMO with lack luster User interfaces and the simplicity of it all.

Apple will always have the edge because of iTunes store and now App Store, no other company can leverage this ALL IN ONE IN HOUSE ECO SYSTEM IN ANY PRODUCT

Haven't you heard? It recently received an update that enables multitouch in the default Google apps.

Of course, it had multitouch since day one....

I rember a few weeks ago some people slamming the Nexus One for the lack of multitouch (even tho it did support it in 3rd party apps). :)

Whew, fanboy... calm down..

Nexus isnt dead... and the nexus isnt what Apple should be worried about. Its andriod and the open alliance they should be worried about.

Nexus WALKS the current iphone on everything but number of apps in their app store... so I wouldnt talk down on the Nexus

I have one. And it's not bad. But it's not the iPhone I wish I'd gotten.

Lots of headline 'features', and they do exist, they just perform like crap. When "multitasking" the phone is unbelievably slow and battery life is about 4 - 6 hours and flash - forget it. It simply doesn't work, makes the phone into a nice pocket warmer though. Browser crashes, video is choppy (when it plays at all) and - horror of horrors - you can't use farmville on it!

Dude are you 12? My 2006 Nokia N95 could multitask and had a 5mp camera, send FULL SIZE mms, cut and paste etc.... lol and you standing the iphone up on some pedistal?? It didnt get that stuff until what some it still doesnt have and the other MAY come this year...

Word on that. Apple fanbois crawling from under mamas wings have no idea about it all. I'm European and as far as I remember my 1st cellphone in 97 it already gave me some pretty cool stuff like locating by BTS triangulation and etc. Nokia was always huge in europe and always be. Apple is just a toy that can't even send a text message while listening to a radio. YAY for a nice looking calculator.

And they are all going to be ipad killers :D

I have a huge problem with iPad and its not only lack of Flash, lack of Multitasking, closed system etc...

Its the SIZE... Its bloody HUGE!!!

I just cant see myself taking it outside at all since it really won't make much difference if I just take my MBP instead...

I was really hoping to see 5-7 inch screen - something like this but from Apple: http://www.slipperybrick.com/2010/01/dell-unveils-mini-5-tablet-prototype/

Yes, Apple has to appeal to the average consumer.

It also has to keep up with other smartphone OSes, otherwise it loses the edge. I'm kind of surprised that more users aren't keeping away due to multi-tasking - but that brings back your point of 98% users.

The sad thing is - when Apple do implement multi-tasking, the 98% of users will think that Apple innovated the multi-tasking phone.

Flash isn't out for the nexus one. How do you have it already?

while i understand your point, i think you're going too harsh on the iphone. it is without any doubt the phone that changed the shape of the mobile industry, let's give it some credit. It's not just a toy

how difficult is copy and paste?
If your a developer then, try it and and report back.

As I said, I took my keyboard off (which the device was made for if wanted by the customer: there is a part in the manual which describes how to do that) and, as said, I used it with my fingers.
