I'll answer that one for ya:

THE NEXUS ONE IS DEAD.

In other words, it's an irrelevant copycat POS that sells 1/100th of what the iPhone does in the same period of time...no wonder they are excited about getting "pinch and zoom" as if it were the second coming...expectations must be really low down there

Then why'd Macrumors pick up this story? In fact why has pretty much every tech blog picked up this story, and focussed in the pinch to zoom when its like a footnote on Google's release notes?

I think to the average consumer the App store is very big... but you'd be amazed how many come up to my hero and say they like it but go "can it pinch and zoom like the iphone" or try to do the gesture. I think its a good thing they have done as Android/N1 users wont have to feel like second class citizens (despite the much improved hardware) because of a measly gesture. One less thing to brag about. Apple need to get off their @ss with the iphone:)

Okay, time to call Nelmat out.

The ONLY video I can find of the Nexus one running Adobe Flash are the developers themselves. Source

Despite this we have:

and

And as the 3rd piece of evidence I quote this Ubergizmo review.

Now, do we have a troll or shill or an Adobe developer amongst us?

He doesnt own the phone... otherwise he would not say such BLATANT lies about flash and video crashing... thats why I called him on it earlier in the thread

Okay, time to call Nelmat out.

I will admit, my Nexus One went back too. As far as speed, this thing slaughtered my friend's iPhone 3GS. I was really, really impressed with speed, battery life, display resolution, noise canceling, GPS connectivity and the camera.

HOWEVER...

I freaking HATE typing on screens. I have typed on iPhones, iPod Touches, Blackberrys, HTC handsets etc. They all suck. It is nice to tap out a few things on screen every now and then, but anything, or ANY length, give me a real keyboard. Nothing beats not having to look as you type. Haptic sensations are greatly appreciated when you're churning out 1,200 texts a month and a few hundred emails.:D

You were always a fanboi and so you continue. BRlawyer... if you're really a lawyer then I feel sorry for you customers

Fanboy or not, the guy is right most of the time. Peel away some of the exaggeration and his sentiment aren't misplaced.

Well I have multi tasking on my nexus, but the problem is, you run four apps, the phone stops working. Is that the sort of crippled multi tasking you're talking about?

Seriously - instantly flick between apps each remaining in the state it was until you return. Makes perfect sense to me and I can see how this would increase performance and reduce battery life. it's a 9.7" screen - how on earth are you gonna interact with two apps at once, other than listening to music while reading a book?

Well, I can only go by my experience. I can very happily run multiple apps on my Nokia, and yet the phone doesn't come to a screaming halt. Generally, I don't get a huge battery drain, either ( depending on the application ).

But the problem is, you don't instantly flick on the iPad / iPhone, the application has to load, which takes time. Additionally, not all applications take you back to where you finished.

Battery life decrease - doesn't really matter unless your phone has crap battery life. As long as you know multi-tasking affects battery life - then whats the problem?

Personally, I'll take unrestricted mult-tasking over the Apple single tasking way any day of the week.

Nexus has haptic feedback... did you turn that feature on and try it? It really helped me out coming from a Bold 9700...

I called him out in an earlier thread to no response.

I'm all up for genuine criticism for something but blatant lies about things make me a sad panda. :( (There is no doubt that some here will lap up the lies tho) :apple:

EDIT: And well done miketcool for some GENUINE criticism. :D

Please. It took the iPhone years to get cut & paste, there's still no 3rd party multitasking, no way to change the default theme, and something as simple as saving an email attachment that's not a photo - nonexistent. Hell, I can do that on an old Samsung Instinct.

Pot calling the kettle black immediately comes to mind here.

Someone goes into a store...sees the iphone and a andriod phone. Owner goes, I hate to break it to you, but the iphone doesn't have 3rd party multitasking, no way to change the default theme and you can't save email attachments that's not a photo.

the customer would be like "okay um? ...and that whats multitasking? What's a theme? and like attachments for what? hey, bill what's the phone cindy has again. Bill says "the iphone". okay, then i'll take that.

---------------------------------------------------------------

just remember, you are part of the whiners group and that group makes up 10% of total iphone sales. 10%~~!! RULE NUMBER ONE: Never follow the fanatics advice. This is the NFL's rule, and why they are the most profitable sport. Most people don't care if they can't do multitasking. What's next? you go and give them multitasking support, only to see the battery completely drained and the customer pissed off. You can't win. WHY CAN"T YOU GUYS SEE THAT!!!!!!!????????????????

Apple isn't making a phone for you 10%, its making a phone for the 90% of the people who just like the iphone for what it is. Because most DONT CARE ABOUT COPY AND PASTE!!!! ONLY YOU 10%. Most people DONT CARE ABOUT MULTITASK!!!!! Only you 10%. Most people Dont care about STUPID THEMES!!!!!!. Only you 10%

and if i'm apple, I say F*** you 10% and same goes to google. They can do whatever you want with the google phone, it won't satisfy everyone.

You stubborn morons, if you guys are complaining so much...THEN DONT BUY THE DAMN PHONE. It's that simple. Nobody is putting a damn gun to your stupid head. Buy a nexus or buy a iphone. But don't start complaining about one over another. Because most people aren't and most people are happy with whatever phone they get.

So for all you whiners that make up 10% of the revenue (seriously, you do...you are cookie crumbs) . How about you make like a tree...........AND GET THE F*** OUT OF HERE. (f*** leaves)

Haptic feedback is nice and all, but it is no substitution for a raised key. The surface is still smooth, and I have no way of judging where the keys are at.

Backgrounder works flawlessly on my jailbroken 3GS (to the point of being worth the upgrade from 3G by itself).

And you expect me to believe a Snapdragon Nexus One phone with 512MB RAM can't?

Is that better hardware.. or better marketing?

We are on a tech forum... we are talking to tech users... so your analysis is not a part of what were are talking about in this convo..

Iphone isnt even that sucessful to the rest of the world... so take your blinders off please... iphone is that 10% too the rest of the world and even blackberry... lol

Oh i understand, just thought I would throw that out there... I really love my blackberry keyboard tho, so I feel what you are saying.

Doesn't apple have a patent on multitouch?

Apple sure do have some multi-touch pattens, but they do not have core touch patents. Another words Apple has an enhancement patent on top of others parties patents. Basically, it means they could not even use it until all patents holders in reference are satisfied. But they do use it, and other are using it, knowing that Apple could not bring it up, because of they do not want to unearth this legal mess. Sort of like they have a squabble with Microsoft over GUI, we know what was the outcome - both ended up being thieves.

My Touch 3G marketing is a starter. People are asking about why the iPhone doesn't have the ability to display a pretty picture like their desktop, old phone, or someone's Android. They also talk about camera flashes, and cost of carrier. There are ways to sell the different features on anything, and stores know this. They just happen to get a bigger commission on Apple products...

BTW, dig the name. At the end of every season, my brother and I stare at the final score and go "g**dammit Cubs". We swear we will never watch another game, and it's over when we're sitting in freezing rain covered bleachers for opening day.

People can make fun of Google all they want, but I won't forget that the first iPhone didn't even feature something as basic as freaking cut and paste.:D

Oh well, I wish Google the best of luck. I'm not getting a Nexus, though, because I don't like the design. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a good design coming from HTC. I hope Google will hire a decent designer themselves for their next project.

Is that better hardware.. or better marketing?

It's a better set of engineering/marketing decisions - making each software and hardware choice in a way so as to appeal to the broadest market. Unfortunately, sometimes that means leaving stuff out - stuff I wish was there.

I love them cubs but I hate them...AT THE SAME TIME. ...this name started because of the 2003. thats when i knew we were cursed.

Ahh yes thats why on every PC in every office people customise their desktops and girls have pink coloured windows...because nobody cares about customization. Of course

Hilarious how some of you say "Google, welcome to 2007..." but when the iPad was revealed you said "wow, this is awesome" instead of saying "Apple, welcome to 2007"... since it is just a huge iPhone...

But... let Google vs Apple, or Apple vs Google commence...

But you Apple stans vs Google stans is just hilarious... lol

If the nexus one worked on at&ts 3g network i would actually consider getting one now.

my iphones getting pretty boring. i need something new and different.
