The GPU needs fixing on the P10, playing the new destiny game (I know it's not a gaming phone), lots of visual glitching, blockiness, where as it's smooth on my P9P XLView attachment 2542537
The Pixel 10 Pro XL's new Imagination PowerVR DXT-48-1536 GPU is capable of supporting the newer Vulkan 1.4 API. However, at the time of its release, its driver was "stuck" on Vulkan 1.1, which is the minimum requirement for Android 14 and above. This mismatch between the hardware's capability and the software's current state has caused a performance bottleneck resulting in a clock speed limitation. This driver issue has been directly linked to the GPU running at a significantly lower frequency. Multiple reports from benchmark tests (like Geekbench) have shown the GPU operating at around 396MHz instead of its intended "default" clock speed, which is around 1100MHz.

Destiny rising

I don't get the black squares (sometimes they are different colours) on my p9p xl
Probably one of the games written with Adreno in mind and "runs" on everything else. Maybe Google can fix some of the issues with a driver update, but I wouldn't count on it.

Call me crazy, I'm sort of interested in the iPhone 17 Pro with more RAM ( 12GB up from 8GB ), a larger battery, the new A19 chip is supposed to be much faster than A18, but also super efficient. Cooling vapor chamber is said to really make the 17 Pro's way more stable and not overheat, as well as a brand new modem, said to be get better connection, but also be less of a battery drain and more efficient.

A whole new camera setup, really gunning for the top spot of best camera on a smartphone.

Basically I've read the iPhone 17 Pro is supposed to give the best battery life of any iPhone, while also running very fast but efficient, and have class leading cameras.

But...iOS ugh. That's always been my issue. Last iPhone I owned was the 12 Pro Max, running iOS 14/15? I like customization options, and dark themes, and lockscreens I can adjust, etc... and back then that wasn't really an option compared to the most recent iOS versions. I recall keeping that 12 PM for like 6 or so months before going back to a Pixel.

But I'm open minded to going back to an iPhone, or will I just regret it and run back to a Pixel 10 Pro?

Hardware is streets ahead of pixels IMO, but software, not so much.

I am 75% leaning towards returning my P10P XL, and either sticking with P9p XL or going for the 17 pro max, but not sure I can deal with Ios lol

I don't have gun in this fight as I don't care what anyone uses but hardware to me , ..is a who cares! I've had phones with removable batteries so the back came off and if you drop it hard enough it came apart. Back comes off, battery fliesm out lol.

I put a case and screen protector on all mine so don't care about hardware....that's just me.

I mean in terms of performance, I figure I have until next friday to decide what to do. I just don't think the 10 is enough of a jump for me. But then the ai sub does chop £200 off the price for me....

Having said all that I've initiated the return and will transfer everything back to my p9p tomorrow.

As much as I'm itching to get the Pixel 10 Pro, I've read a lot of reviews this holiday weekend, and watched a ton of reviews. And from what I'm seeing, the Pixel 10 Pro is barely an "upgrade" from the Pixel 9 Pro, most are saying the Pixel 10 Pro only starts to feel like an upgrade from a Pixel 7 Pro or earlier phone, but not much from the 8 Pro, and virtually almost no noticeable "upgrade" if coming from a Pixel 9 Pro.

I still think the Pixel 10 Pro is the coolest "best" Android phone to get in 2025, unless your a diehard Apple guy, then it's the 17 Pro. But if you need a new smartphone this year, I would recommended the Pixel 10 #1. I'm just saying, unless you already have a "newer" Android smartphone like the Pixel 9 Pro or S25 Ultra, then the Pixel 10 line really isn't for those people. My opinion.

I've bought every Pixel for a while now, had the 6 Pro, then 7 Pro, then 8 Pro, now the 9 Pro XL, before that the Pixel 4 XL, the 3 XL, and 2 XL, and most the Nexus phones back in the day. I do recall going from the 6 Pro to 7 Pro felt like a ZERO "upgrade", I even looked in the settings of the 7 Pro to truly verify Google shipped me a legit Pixel 7 Pro and not another Pixel 6 Pro LOL because the 6 Pro and 7 Pro felt 99% the exact same, after having the 7 Pro a couple weeks, it felt literally no different whatsoever than the 6 Pro. My point being, that's why I'm holding onto my Pixel 9 Pro XL, and not getting the Pixel 10 Pro right now, as I don't want another 6 Pro to 7 Pro nothing upgrade feel again.

I was ready to grab a P10PXL and give android a try on Fi as a second line. Between the reviews and me reviewing my needs, I realized the Apple ecosystem was just too simple and practical for me, so I canceled. And I’m not unhappy in the ecosystem, and the 17PM camera upgrades alone sound too enticing. I also enjoy Liquid Glass.

I've went back and forth on the 10 Pro but I think I'd rather have the Fold 7. I think the Pixel is great, especially for a slab phone, but I enjoy a lot of what Samsung brings to the table.

I'm going to Best Buy after work to play with a 10 Pro XL. Love the Fold 7 but battery life is starting to irritate me more and more.

I played with a 10 Pro And Pro XL s couple of days ago. They are very nice. Premium feel, fast, good cameras. Very tempting devices. I have a Fold 5 so I think I'll be satisfied with battery life on the 7.

@Aneres11 no Pixel 10 for you this year? I always looked forward to your thoughts and pictures of new devices.
Ahh thanks!
No, not for me this time! Which is unusual as we all know my inability to 'be good' :p.

Nothing against the devices themselves, but I have been using my iPhone the last few months and I am just happy with it?
I've tried the 2 phone thing, it just doesn't work for me. I'm really interested in the iPhone 17 Pro (looks like it may come in ORANGE!!!), and I've been silly in the past swapping phones when I had no reason to. So just going to stick with what's working for now!

The Pixel's look great, though. Love the 'Jade' colour and the blue on the non Pro :D.

Fair enough! Last I saw you were happy with the S25 Ultra, I assume that's now gone?

I'll admit, I would be very tempted in a Pixel 10 Pro if the trade-ins were killer like last year, but they're not.

Last year Best Buy offered $899 for my Pixel 8 Pro towards a new Pixel 9 Pro XL, but this year only like $599. Even Google has worse trade-ins this year compared to last year.

Only U.S. carriers are offering super trade-ins, but I don't want a phone on a contract or the deal with 24 months of discounted payments via trade-ins.

And just for fun I checked Best Buy trade-in value on a new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, they are only offering $300 for my Pixel 9 Pro XL, LOL ok wasn't getting a S25U anyways, but certainly not now. Trade-ins for 2025 are far worse than 2024.

Heck, there was a brief period during 9PXL launch where Best Buy was offering $1000 trade in of the S25+ toward 9PXL! That was insane, this year is very different.

Coming from the P9 series id agree. Likely minimum upgrade.
Getting a new one every year might not be a good upgrade but to me, coming from the P8 it is for various reasons. I didn't get the P9.

Not to mention on my P8 when it got hot from being outside in the 105 to 113 heat the screen for the last couple months was turning a grainy green so it was time to get rid of it before it got bad and lose my trade in value.

Yeah the S25 U was brilliant, tbh. In a lot of ways better than the Pixel. It really surprised me.
But, I was dual running the iPhone then too and I just found myself preferring using it over the S25 U.

I must be getting older as I could have traded my 9 Pro in and with my Google Store Credit got a 10 Pro for like £200 haha but I just want to upgrade to the new iPhone and carry on being happy with just one device.

I was going to ask if anybody who had the 10 pro XL thought the improvements over the 9 pro XL were decent enough to warrant the upgrade
