To get views you need to be first, and to be first you need pre release devices, so if you are going to slate a company's products then they won't send you review samples, so it's a self fulfilling prophecy.

He's making WAY MORE than half a million a year with the amount of subscribers he has he's making million$.
I suspected as much. I didn't want to exaggerate the numbers because I didn't know. That's why I take all these YT influencers with a bag of salt. When that kind of money is on the line, they will say things to make their cash register say cha-ching.

Can't see anything in the battery settings, what stutters is fine on my p9p xl, I know they will probably fix the issues soon, but as expected I think I am a bit underwhelmed
This is from my Pixel 9a. Settings -> Battery Saver -> Adaptive Battery Enable or Disable". If it's enabled by default, it says "adaptive battery learns from your phone usage to continuously optimize how apps use battery. To extend battery, it may reduce performance and delay notifications".

I have switched it off, so I will experiment

Look in the battery usage section and it will list the top battery hogs. If you see FF or Amazon towards the top, that could be your clue as adaptive battery will throttle those apps. I can see FF needing battery because it uses a lot of hardware acceleration for smooth scrolling and performance.

I'm not using ff as my main browser and Amazon isn't anywhere near top of the battery usage. I think it's similar to the lag I had on my pixel 7 and 8s. It's like the GPU can't keep up with scrolling.

The missing point here, is that the top YT tech reviewers are typically making bank money. A guy like Marques is probably making half a million or more than that a year. When you have that kind of money on the line you get to be very careful about what you say and review.
Good point and I agree.

They have to be more careful to protect their connections and contacts. Happens to individuals and companies, the bigger they get, the more cautious and slower they become.

I didn't mention that because I understand it, however, it does not change the fact that they have become spec sheet readers, and only occasionally offer a real opinion.

The solution is quite simple, just don't watch them.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Amazon and firefox seems to have fixed it

Well I got my Google case today. Wasn't supposed to be here originally til Sept 6th. Then said the 2nd ,....showed up today with no shipping updates lol.

So a week early, cool! And yes, being brand new it is a bit slippery as I think the other two were as well but they break in and get better grip. Seems just a tad brighter than the phone.

I quit watching most if not all of them. The only YT channel I watch because I learn stuff from, is Gamers Nexus and Steve Burke. He's in hot water with Bloomberg's attorneys because he did a 3.5hr expose on Nvidia's GPU black market corruption in China. Bloomberg had YT take down that video and give his channel a strike. Two more and his channel gets shutdown. His attorneys are fighting Bloomberg's attorneys.

Every other channel is basically noise trying to sell you something which then turns into an infomercial. I also have ad blockers on FF so I never see one of their advertisements or sponsors. Google must hate me. 🥳

Steve aka tech Jesus is the best no BS and transparent reviewer today.

He's an extremely rare breed

And unlike Marques, he is influential because he has Gamers Nexus buy prebuilts anonymously and reviews them, so he gets a system that the average consumer would get. Because of Gamers Nexus and Steve's negative reviews of the Alienware desktops, he influenced Dell to make serious changes for the better. He referred to Alienware in past reviews as Fail-ienware.

I'm not trying to be a hater, but I feel like Marques is generally trying less and less these days with his product reviews. He's a busy guy and has taken other interests over the years so I feel like he's mostly going through the motions with these.

Tech reviewers are nothing but third party sales people nowadays. They get their nice cameras, film in nicely decorated rooms, and just read off the specs.

The whole point of a review is to offer an opinion, not "Here are the specs, you decide".

The reason they don't offer any opinions is because they want relationships with companies and they also want to appease to as many people as possible, and the best way to do that is to take a safe, neutral position.

The problem is that a safe, neutral position is not interesting and is useless.
So what parts of his review did you disagree with? I watched and he had plenty of definitive opinions, some clearly not favorable.

Not disagreeing with the general assessment of many reviewers but I didn't read this review as a spec sheet listing.

Does anyone from the UK have an invitation email for the Google event where they have included a rebate code for £150? If you are not using it, I will happily and appreciatively take it off you. Please DM me. Don't post it here. Thanks.
Anyone of the UK crowd have an unused code? Would swing it for me to move to Pixel from iPhone. Thank you in advance.

Had to post this. Battery is good. I've got this before but activated my stepper apps.
One is the Samsung Health which does more but i only want it to count my steps and tell me how far I've walked.
The SS app ran the battery down doing many other things I don't need it to do so I deleted that one.

Not it's back to this.

Thanks again MarkX. You're a superstar.

Now the real dilemma Pro or XL!? I think 256GB Obsidian is the one though in either model. I think it should be sufficient for UFS4.0. The weight of the XL makes me a little nervous.

Also people with Tesla vehicles.. does the UWB phone key work as it should with the Pixels? I haven't had a Pixel since the OG.

The GPU needs fixing on the P10, playing the new destiny game (I know it's not a gaming phone), lots of visual glitching, blockiness, where as it's smooth on my P9P XLScreenshot_20250901-141049.png

Does anyone else from the UK have an invitation email that you wouldn’t mind Kindly sharing via PM please? I would really appreciate it. Many thanks.
