Agreed…the inconsistency is irritating. Micosoft is especially guilty as you’ve pointed out. I have 3 of their apps on my home screens and they’re 3 of the 4 that don’t adhere to the theming applied. Drives me nuts.

My other biggest gripe is autofill across the OS. It is so inconsistent and buggy. I can go to the same app or website on different occasions and sometimes it offers my 1Password suggestions, other times no dice. Hell, there are plenty of times where I go back to the username or password field on the same page and the autofill options that were once there initially just disappear. Autofill filling name, phone numbers, addresses never works. There are plenty of times where I had to go into Chrome or OS autofill settings and just toggle my preferred option on and off to get the behavior to correct itself yet it never persists. And having the option to use multiple autofill sources simultaneously on iOS is so useful. If it wasn’t for the ability to just have 1Password open in multi-window on my Fold to manually pull my password, I might’ve called it day already.

Same goes for the autofill of codes received via messages for 2FA. On iOS they just automatically fill in 999/1000 times–they’re even pulled out of my email client when that’s how they’re received. On Android, I have to hit the little copy option in my messages notification if it shows at all.

And before anyone comments that it’s just a glitch on this devices—-it’s been the same on the last 3 folds I’ve used which have all been set up fresh.

Those are my biggest gripes, but I’m coping.

Agree on the password populating and just different quirks on same or different areas. I've been using BitWarden and it's excellent but the UI of my phones whether it be my Samsung or previous Google or my OnePlus just act differently at different times for no reason whatsoever.

The Pixel 10 being £539 in the UK feels like the right price for this phone. I’ve got one coming today to take for a spin to see if I can switch once again.

I think the standard 10 is a good buy. Plus you can get that sexy blue which is king of all the other drab colours across the line this year.

I was debating the blue but in the end went obsidian. A cleaner and smarter look for every day. I’m not someone who needs a blue phone 😆

I mean my cars are black and grey, so you could say I am!
As someone currently shopping for a new car, car colors are just more boring now. Hard to find a good green/purple/orange nowadays. And the manufacturer sites will show they have a red, but not seeing them much on the dealer lots for whatever reason. That said, the sand dune pearl that Honda has for the Civic Hatchback is speaking to me... even though it's just a fancy brown.

Black Friday deals should hit next month. Hopefully there will be some good deals on Google's website in the US and UK. I do also have a referral code from someone on this very thread, I checked it and it now seems to work where it didn't a couple of weeks ago, I'm wondering if Google had an issue with them. Anyway I might try a use a referral code with Black Friday deal, IF Google allow that.

using both here, 17 pro and 10 pro xl. the battery on both is lasts me full day.
I prefer the UI on iOS and like the size of 17 pro and long battery life. can't ditch the pixel because i prefer its camera especially with kids, the haptics when typing and its functionalities.

I'm sticking with my iPhone 17. I think it boils down to preference of iOS look and feel, together with consistent design I'm a fan of. Immediately using Android I noticed I don't like fonts in WhatsApp, how apps are presented and how some apps fully load from scratch and take a while even if I'm used them a few minutes earlier. The biggest thing though, is the friction I introduce to my family who are all on iOS - iMessage, approving my sons screen time on his iPad, FaceTime with my son who doesn't have a phone, better integrated family calendar, FindMy being excellent, shared notes, to name a few of things I'd have to give up.

I'd argue that iOS is the most inconsistent OS ever, but glad you are not bothered by it.

Apple Calendar - let's put the + button in the top right
Reminders - let's put the + button in the bottom right
Settings - let's put the search box on the bottom
App Library - let's put the search box at the top

And so on. I just find it chaotic/messy. I use both daily and iOS just makes my brain hurt sometimes.

I can appreciate both of these takes. I’ve been immersed in the Apple ecosystem since the buying my first Mac in 2006 and over time there’s just accumulated muscle memory built up on how to use/navigate around the various OS. Yes, iOS 26 is a big changge but it’s still familiar, especially to anyone who has used an iPhone for a while. Do I like it? Not particularly but it’s not foreign and still generally works as it has for years. It’s certainly not making me crave to use my iPhone though, that’s for sure.

I’ve had similar feelings to @LiE_ for years as my friends and family are almost exclusively also all Apple users. When my kids were younger, this was more of an issue for me but my three are all young adults now and they can cope. I don’t need to micromanage their tech existence any more and the occasional hurdles of me living more outside of Apple aren’t the end of the world. And I’m still using Macs, iPads, and Apple TVs so it’s still quite feasible. I’ve also realized my kids only use iMessage with their parents and a few other contacts (school, sports coaches) so interacting over RCS really isn’t such a big deal. While I dislike Meta and wish it was owned by someone else, using Whatsapp for the week really makes me wish the US relied on a ubiquitous third party messaging option instead of iMessage and simple text messages.

Really enjoying my Pixels so far. I’m traveling in Europe for a week and didn’t jump back to the safety and familiarity of my iPhone/Apple Watch as I likely would have done in the past.

I can't wait to get home.

Anybody loving/hating their Pixel Watch 4? Looks like Spigen fixed the charging issues with their watch cases and are going to be sending out replacements, so now I am considering getting one. (Didn't trust a naked watch without sapphire glass.)

Really enjoying mine, with a few minor gripes. I won't put a case on any of my smartwatches, don't like the bulk.

No universal back button with iOS. It boggles my mind how apple has made this optional with developers
