**** me thats ugly.

As someone who likes Android for the options of not and iPhone, its annoying when Google's own phone looks like a giant knockoff of the iPhone. Like come on now, part of me going to Android was because I don't like the current style of iPhones.

LOL ...

HAHAHAHA Android winers how does it taste?!

I mean, we have literally hundreds of choices that aren't the Pixel thankfully.

Where’s all them notch haters now? Can we mock the Android fan base for being late to the party.

As someone who likes Android, this notch, and all notches on phones regardless if they run Android or iOS, are an ugly an inelegant way of doing "edge" displays.

That notch its like a really awkward bad joke, where you dont know if you should laugh og cry, i kinda smile every time i see the it tho:D

Notch + chin makes no sense. The lack of the chin on the iPhone X justifies the notch. It's amazing how desperate even the biggest companies are to copy Apple.
People give Apple flak for the X’s notch, but the X actually involves quite a bit of smart engineering to get the bottom bezel that thin. Apple has a very hard to replicate (and probably proprietary) method that folds the display back on the bottom so the display connector actually faces upwards. This is why almost none of the 2018 Android phones has been able to replicate the thinness of the X’s bottom bezel. It’s probably the same story here with the Pixel, but Google decided to push the screen to the upper edge instead of going with the galaxy route. It’s unbalanced for sure, but at least it gives people a little more screen real estate.

Not really... considering the first phone to have a notch was an android.. try harder pal...
actually the phone you're talking about had an evil eye...not a notch.
[doublepost=1533778242][/doublepost]Imagine Google taking the bezels from Android phones and the notch from the iPhone X and combining the worst features of each into one Franken phone.

If true, that’s just embarrassing. Not only have they done nothing significant with Android in years, but now they’ve essentially created another cheap clone of iPhone X, from the UI to hardware design, without any of the thoughtfulness. Google could’ve just let the Chinese smartphone makers do that. Not sure what value Google is adding to the smartphone market at this point.

Will Samsung also make an ad for Pixel 3 XL?

Guess they'll zip their mouths.

Of course they won't talk about the Pixel, they don't see anyone but Apple as real competition.

WTF is that? ugly!! But wait!! Weren't the android fanboys making fun of apples notch? lol go figure, Samsun is next.
I don't think Samsung would copy Apple's design, they have some on point designs, really sleek. I would not get one but I can appreciate it

I know how some android fans detest the notch at the top, I wonder how they’re going to feel about having a notch and a CHIN at the bottom!!
Android fan here and I hate it!

Although Google's major fall event is still about two months away, typically occurring in October and ushering in a new generation of Pixel smartphones and other products, today leaked pictures have been shared online highlighting the upcoming Google Pixel 3 XL.

The images depict an alleged "pre-release" final production unit of the Pixel 3 XL smartphone, sourced from a Russian tech blogger (via Android Police). Images showcase the rear and front of the device, with an iPhone X-like notch at the top of the Pixel 3 XL's display that's not as wide as Apple's, but is noticeably taller.

Previous CAD leaks suggest that a smaller 5.4-inch Pixel 3 will not have a notch, while the larger 6.2-inch Pixel 3 XL is what appears in the images today, notch included. It's believed that Google is using the notch to house improved cameras, including two camera lenses.

Per Bloomberg, from a report in May:
Additionally, the images suggest that customers will get "Pixel Bud-esque" wired USB-C earphones with the Pixel 3 XL. There also appears to be a charging brick, charging cable, and a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box. The unboxing images depict "what looks to be a pretty new iPhone-like wallpaper," as Android Police points out.

Software running on the units was Android 9 with an 8-core Qualcomm processor and an Adreno 630 GPU. The Pixel 3 XL in the images also has 4GB of RAM and a resolution of 1440x2960 with a pixel density of 494 PPI.

Following the release of the iPhone X in November 2017, clones of Apple's notch style hardware began surfacing in December and throughout 2018. In March, Google announced Android P, which introduced software support for display notches that are built into the Android smartphones mimicking Apple's design.

For Apple, the company decided on the notch-style design in order to maximize the available display area of the iPhone X, while also still leaving room for the various sensors and tech that make up the TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. Although Android smartphones are copying Apple's design, many of them lack the front-facing biometric security features as the iPhone X and instead opt for fingerprint scanners.

PORQUEEEEEEEEEE

I don't know if there is any surprise that Google will pull at the last moment, but if this is the pixel 3, I hope this will be the last phone made by Google! Their phone deisgns are getting more and more stupid! Maybe the phone is being designed by a committee, rather than by a designer!

HAha, all the fools that bemoaned the notch are now seeing it bigger on Google's phone. Live with it people.

This is sad. They not only follow the ugly notch trend, but they make it even uglier.

The chin is there for the second front face stereo speaker. I'd take that over the downfiring secondary speaker iPhones have... that's as stupid as putting a charging port on the bottom of a mouse.
Such a niche feature. Stereo with that tiny separation is only good for listing it on a feature list. Not to mention, it's not stereo at all in portrait mode. The chin is there all the time for a not-all-the-time feature. I will take a chinless phone any day. Charging port on a mouse is a charging port not a speaker. And it is on a mouse not on a phone. They are completely different case. Don't cherry pick an example that suits your argument.

Samsung at least said they will not copy this lol! Soon they maybe the only ones without a notch.

Notch is here temporarily until they figure out to have all that tech under display. People would not live a better life if they don't find something to moan about. It used to be antena bands before, bezels, camera bump still, obviously now we have the notch. Ideally I would rather have my iPhone X without it but it is not a dealbreaker to me. Having almost no bezels on this thing and the beautiful display makes me forget about it. Now it will be all about making that notch smaller and eventually removing it.

That is an awful looking phone.

They should just have a thin top and bottom (Galaxy S9 etc...) until they can figure it out. It's poor design and looks awful. (The notch in general)

The notch is hideous but Samsung shouldn't laugh: their curved displays are an abomination from hell.

The ugly truth is that these companies ran out of useful stuff to add long ago and this infantile quest for no bezels is all that's left. At sky-high prices.

So it seems that the One Plus 6 is the best designed phone with a notch.
I hope Pixel 3 XL fails miserably so Google ups their game. Already on Android sites the underwhelming majority are super disappointed in this design.

Nah, not for me. Rather just a bit of notch then thick chin and forehead. But each to their own.

Of course, it's all personal opinion. I would say thin chin and forehead like the S9. The notch is just poor design *to me* However, at least Apple and a few others are trying. Like this image of the pixel. Huge chin and notch? Trying too hard to copy and doing it poorly.
