Anyone else getting "Check back soon... Try again later" when trying to update their cards? All I'm seeing are glowing reviews across the net on this thing but I think they're jumping the gun a bit.
All I get is "Check back soon". But I don't use Google for email or calendar, so this may be pretty useless to me. Google Now has no way of knowing my upcoming appointments or what's been coming through my mail.

GN doesn't work on my android phone. After trying to figure out how to get it, I finally did a web search and found out that it's only available on the latest versions of Android. Many of those phones can't be updated to that OS (including many that are still being sold new with earlier OS versions), so they can't run it.

So you guys are saying I have two assistants now:

Siri: Old, and a little slow, she does mundance tasks such as setting reminders, alarms, sends texts

Google Now: Smart, responsive, fast, alerts me about traffic, automatically presents me with boarding pass when I'm in the airport, etc...

Yea whether we like it or not this is direct competition (and a blow) to Siri's 'intelligent' features.

You must be an Android user then set out to troll Mac boards?

Passbook does the passport thing, Apple maps shows you traffic etc.

Does it not get boring trolling these boards?

After using for a while i find it useless. Was cool at first.

What the hell are you talking about? The App just came out today...how about you let it collect a little data before finding it "useless".

God no wonder you people will never switch to the better platform.

Since it appears everything is tied to one Gmail account, and I use multiple accounts (one for work, another for personal,e-commerce, etc...) this is not very useful.

Also, like I mentioned before it tries to automate too much, like only using searching your emails for events, etc... It needs a way to let me create a "card" by saying or typing it.

Half-baked app but it has potential. Also needs to stop giving error messages when updating.

Imagine you live in a country not so free as 'MERICA.

Now imagine the government can get info from Google about everything you do, your email, everything...

Google Now sifts thru your email which i don't really like or care...

WTF are you doing here with "you" people ?!

After all said and done I will try it out for a week even though i don't know any friend of mine with android who still uses it.

But for it to go through your e-mail to automatically create a lot of these cards doesn't it need access to your emails in a gmail account?

Sure, but you aren't forced to have a gmail account.

I'm confused. Whether or not they scan your email wouldn't matter. They still have access to it for governments to request. The same can be said for iCloud. You don't think a government could subpoena to get your exact location using Apple's Find My Phone?

exactly, the tracked down the Boston bomber by tracking the cell phone!

All ready use android so no point in switching if i already use. GN has 6 cards for me already and i still find it useless. Can just open an app and get more info.

Google Now is the biggest piece of crap and most overrated thing I've ever seen. It's basically a theme for Google search results and does 10% of what Siri does. I much prefer Siri to this pile of garbage.

So giving you commute times, notifying you of packages, providing bus/subway schedules when you are near a station are useless? A lot of the information it provides you aren't notified anywhere else. Now is about passively getting information. You don't need to actively check apps because it is there without you having to ask. On Android is was an absolute life saver. It's the one thing I really miss in iOS.

And that right there is a win for Google. People may not be using Android, but people are using Google services over Apple services on their iPhones. My iPhone is basically a Google phone running iOS. Gmail, Chrome, Google Maps, Google Music, Google Now etc...

Wow, Google has some of the worst apps and services I've used. I feel sorry for people who use these on their iPhone. They are horrible!

My GPS gives commute time, i get notified by email when a package ships and the amazaon app can also give me that info. Dont need bus info i drive a car and google maps already gives that info. I just dont see a point opening the app when the info that is givin is so weak compared to a app.

No
And no, just because Siri and Google Now are totally different things

Not really (at least on Android). You can still ask Google Now questions, set appointments, reminders, play music etc just as you can with Siri (although Now is more accurate).

Google Now just learns what your habits are and presents you with information before you need it or conveniently on one screen for you.

Google Now (IMO) is just more advanced than Siri and more intuitive.

Nope did that already.

A bit of a gimmick but the Googles image capture is pretty impressive, after trying loads of things around the house it's been 100% accurate.
Tried it on a pair of red Nike trainers. It showed me red cars.

Tried it with a blue kettle. It showed me a green telephone.

Updated and installed this because i used to use the "cards" when i had my S2, now, GPS always on, ate my battery in under 2 hrs as it did its "google tracking every movement you make" thing..

Uninstalled, battery drain back under control
