Trust me, If they don't sell out that weekend, they will be discounting it further on Monday.

On a totaly other random note, I think it is cool that almost everything hitting the market is now Unix and open source derived.

The marketer tells me IF they release on Black Friday (which now pretty much covers the weekend too), they'll make just enough to "sell out", trying to create an artificial demand for the product while hitting the main media outlets with the line "We're so popular because we sold out of all of our tablets this weekend, careful Apple!"

Desperate.

Yeah it may work somewhat?

What is it going to offer though? If TV Networks not supporting Google TV then they may not support this either. What Telecommunications company supporting this Sprint and Clear 4G since Google is a investing partner for Sprint's Clear. It have to use Chrome OS to support Flash 10.1 since it's barely workable on Android 2.2. I get it to use only for my blog sit and checking email maybe surfing the web and that's it.

. I guess you've missed the note about how iTunes tracks every purchase you make and Apple are selling that information to ad partners.

It's anonymous. It's like Honda telling a private label floor mat vendor that 367,000 people purchased the black mats with a red H logo on them, rather than the gray with silver logo, when they were given the option at the dealer. So what? No identifiable personal data is shared.

It’s weird that this is not an Android device. Equally weird: that the browser in Android is not Chrome! Both choices sound like no-brainers, and it seems like Google has had plenty of time to make them happen.

Dilger wrote an accurate and poignant summary of Android's place in the future of Google a few days back. Android is merely a placeholder, support will dwindle in the near or very near future, depending on the outcome of Oracle's suit of Google over Java.

whats? Come again... Android will go away? That is the most ludicrus comment I have read in a long while... lol

iOS will go away.. See I can make dumb comments too.

I want glare!

That thing doesn't have nearly enough screen glare. I have to have that.

So funny that Google is following Apple around trying to copy their success. Kinda sad, really. "Google, please go back to building search crap, that's what you do! Leave the cool products to the company that can do it right!"

No offense, but you're pretty ignorant to think that. I own apple products, but Google is doing things right in their respect. Now that android O/S sales have surpassed iOS, it's clear that the market trend is changing. Does Apple Care? No. They don't have to. As long as the stockholders are happy, Apple is happy with whatever. But ignorant statements like that without justifying a good reason is dumb. Court order passed in which unlocking a phone was viable and good, what does Apple do? 4.02 which disabled sites with unlock features like jailbreakme.com.

I love my apple products, but Apple extremists are generally not knowledgeable because they pray to the almighty Jobs and don't see the bigger picture. I for one am really happy that there will be competition on the iPad. Good healthy marketing competition and giving the consumer choices is brilliant in all aspects. No one likes monopolistic mentality.

So kudos Google, and if the rumors are true about day after thanksgiving, well... let the stampede begin for the hottest Christmas item for 2010.

+1. Surprising more people don't associate Android's future with this suit.

Android will be a non issue by this time next year. :apple:

Android sales have not surpassed iOS sales unless you are only talking about unit sales in the smartphone market for the latest quarter.

Court order passed in which unlocking a phone was viable and good,

There was no court order passed. The Library of Congress recently decided on a new exemption to the DMCA that allows jailbreaking for specific reasons (Basically, app compatibility. An exemption for unlocking was passed in previous years.) This is not a court order. It is not a decision on the overall legality of jailbreaking.

Are you really going to equate fixing a security whole with some sort of Apple crusade against jailbreaking?

That's a lot of incorrect information for someone calling others ignorant.

So why does the iPad need an SD card slot and USB ports?

For the same reason I just purchased an Android tablet - it fits into my photo work flow. If I could use the iPad for file transfer without importing into iPhoto I would be a happy camper.

It should be ilegal to introduce a new product on Black Friday. It's like watching someone get run over by a car and then walking over to give them a good kick to the ribs.

Yes I am aware of that but I can't transfer files from SD or CF cards to an external HD. I stuff a tablet and HD into my camera bag and am ready to go. Until I got the tablet I was lugging around a full blown laptop.

Admittedly I'm not the typical use case. The Android tablet fit my needs. I'll probably also have an iPad some day - it's just not at the top of the list today. ;)

Just out of curiosity, I'm trying to picture what you are trying to do. You want to end up with a copy on the hard drive, a copy on the tablet, and a copy on the original SD card without connecting to a desktop or PC? Is that right? Why the third copy? Not that I disagree, just want to know your perspective.

No, I just want to move from the SD or CF card to the HD. The tablet lets me do that without lugging a laptop with me. When I'm out and about I lug three DSLRs and associated gear with me. Shedding the laptop was a big bonus.

I debated between a 7" and 10" tablet. I ended up with the 10" so I could also use it to show off my pictures.

This is becoming less and less of an issue as my flash storage collection keeps expanding. Even if I didn't need to free up any space I wouldn't mind backing up the flash to HD just in case.

All I have to say, is that the Android market is absolutely horrible. It's not even in the same league as the App store from Apple. Way too many garbage apps...How many "Move around the picture to complete the puzzle" apps do you need??? It's all just junk! Garbage, Garbage, Garbage......

As I look down at my Droid X, I can count 3 apps that are worth anything...And those are not even polished....This platform has a loooong way to go. And to me, the Android Market will never catch up.

I see Android as a nuisance, rather then a platform for innovation.

Spy is a new trend in App Market

You're missing my point, which is my fault since I should have stated that earlier. The Extremists cry about something that Google will be producing, and start crying that Apple did it first.. blah blah blah. Then make statements which just don't make sense like what I did.

I personally like choice and competition. Apple unfortunately doesn't equate to choice since they prefer to limit usage on their devices. That's not saying that Android does the same, but it seems more open to choices. And that's the key part, it's choices. Just like Jobs stated, we have a choice, we can either select the iDevices and live by his rules, or go somewhere else. Ultimately in the end, it's all business, and if it keeps the Shareholders happy, then who cares what features are on and not on a device. People will buy it regardless. For a long time, iDevices didn't have copy and paste, but people still bought the devices. For a long time, iDevices didn't have multitasking, but people still bought the devices. The list can go on and on.

Can you honestly tell me we would live in a better world without having choices?

If it supports creating documents and then uploading the files to the web, I'm all over it.

It will most likely do the document editing stuff with Google Docs. So there is no uploading. They're written on the web directly.
