Lol, no. Listen to the calls...he’s clearly talking about units. You need the entire context of the call and it’s obvious. Anyway, I’m not arguing with people on this nonsense.

The iPhone X was successful because it’s obvious in the numbers, which need no context. Apple increased ASP to almost $800 and grew iPhone sales revenue in high double digits. iPhone X.

Another quote. Poke holes in this one, lol.

"Customers chose iPhone X more than any other iPhone each week in the March quarter, just as they did following its launch in the December quarter. We also grew revenue in all of our geographic segments, with over 20% growth in Greater China and Japan."
Again, why not just state "sold more than any other model of phone" if that were the case. Careful use of words :)

I mean, there are a lot of words in English. If people chose iPhone X more than any other iPhone and the sales numbers speak for themselves, I know what I’m going with. The stock certainly did...lol.

People can choose an iPhone X , but then return it. That is not a sale. If a product sells more than any other, it is normal to state in clear English - Sold more.

"Was popular", "chose" and "sold" do not have the seeming in the context of sales. Certainly not legal meaning But, lap it all up :)

To be fair he said it on an earnings calls so I would think he was referring to sales. It's not like he was just giving an interview to the press.

Looks pretty bad to me. I’m not sure how long the Pixel line will last, but I’m assuming Google will keep throwing money at it or make some major changes to Android at some point. That being said, it’s the only Android I’d ever consider if Apple failed to provide me with the value it does today.

I’d consider Moto phones first

And people give Apple crap, lol. Looking forward to Samsung's notch next.
For better or for worse Apple is a trend setter in this product category. It's a shame so many android devices are getting notched. Even the android community is complaining.

I'm still using the original pixel as my work phone and it's lovely. Was looking forward to something different with the 3. Instead, not eif the same :(

To be fair, nothing about thisbyears iPhone launch has me excited either.m except size. But that was speculated even before the X launched.

Why are people so against the notch - it's extra pixels you wouldn't have had otherwise. Think glass half full instead half empty.
I honestly haven't yet seen those extra pixels put to very good use. I suppose if you want the teceotion and battery on the screen all the time it's useful. To me that information could stay or go. It's less detailed since the iPhone X anyway, and what I thought I'd miss (like battery percent) I really don't.

Am I agonizing over it? No. I just wish the device was prettier to look at is all. Personally think the happiest medium is what Samsung has done with the Galaxy. But the. It's a Samsung galaxy lol.

Not against the notch on the iPhone X because it’s necessry to hold all the sensors for Face ID. However on android they don’t need such a big notch as they don’t have anything like Face ID. The essential had a neat acceptable notch. The rest are just copying Apple. It’s not like a notch is needed look at Samsung’s phones, near bezelsss and no notch.

Not sure how the note 9 is an iPhone copy.
[doublepost=1536351364][/doublepost]
I disagree. The nexus line was experimental and just there to showcase stock android phones for developers. However the pixel line of products are marketed as premium devices with premium prices and they are trying to build up an ecosystem of devices. Also buying a massive stake in HTC signals their intent imo.

I don’t think there is a right way to remove something. You just remove it. Apple just have the influence and a large enough user base to push a change forward. There’s nothing special about removing a function.
[doublepost=1536351668][/doublepost]
It’s excusable because of Face ID. However Samsung’s alternative is a good way to go too.
[doublepost=1536351784][/doublepost]
I think 4 million is too generous but I didn’t think they care at the moment as hardware has never been their main business.
Ultimately they are all copies of the iPhone since they came after the iPhone ..android and the hardware..
knockoffs!!!

It would be an amazing publicity stunt if Google did make the notch look huge to troll Apple and other Android clones before introducing a true edge to edge display with no notch getting in the way.

But if this is the real design they’re trying to sell... I just can’t see any reason for the notch to cut that deeply into the display. It makes the iPhone and LG and Huawei notches look elegant by comparison.

With so much attention on the Russians for hacking and meddling in social media it is kind of suspicious that the leaks were by “Russians”. That would be a pretty cool element to the joke. If this does turn out to be a joke and publicity stunt.
The text on part of the internal packaging spells
Googel.com :)

Lol, show me the return rates. Plus, I know the reported sales. It’s done extremely well. Hate on!

The childishness comes in your absolute statements and constant need to defend what is considered a contentious development.
It wasn't necessary to involve yourself in my post, it didn't affect you, yet right on cue there you are as usually with a blindly defensive post internalized to you.

You were claiming people would be upset if Apple removed the notch. I was countering your statement by saying that’s not the case for me (and many others) because it’s necessary right now while still pushing forward in authentication technology. Nothing to defend here, it’s an open conversation. That’s what the forums are for. Hopefully one day you can handle it like an adult. I have no issue with differing opinions and welcome any discussion.

lol @ "getting notched"

I guess the alternative is "getting bezelled" :p

Remember when phones had a solid black bezel across the ENTIRE top of the phone? And when the clock and status items were pushed down into the content area of the phone?

And remember when phones had a solid chin bezel across the bottom of the phone too?

The good ol' days, huh... :D

Right but how do you copy something the iPhone doesn’t have. How is the note 9’s hardware a copy of the iPhone.

Is the iPhone also a copy of the first mobile phone considering it came after.

Look at those new phones by Oppo and vivo they’ve managed to bypass the notch altogether. There are other ways. Maybe Samsung have found a way to skip the notch on the s10.

Have a Pixel 2. I don't see any technical improvements in a Pixel 3 that would entice me to upgrade.

Probably already mentioned here but: When the Ukrainians unboxed one of these "leaked" pixel 3 xl phones, there were pamphlets inside that official retail box, it misspelled google as googel. I mean, that’s a big spelling error to make, maybe it’s even a deliberate hint that this is not googles final product at all.

Nothing to do with hate.
Again, if X had higher sales than any other model, why not just say "sold more". Its much more powerful than saying "most popular"?
Not to me...you have no argument and I don’t even know what you’re grasping at anymore. Facts like data and clear statements don’t sway you, so we are done here.

I am not grasping at anything. I am not disputing data or facts or anything. I am simply saying, if X sold more than any other model why not just say "sold more". A rational minded person would reply, yes that would make more sense.

Yeah you are. I think a rational person would say they already said that with the statements they did make. See ya.

Mentioned it before that's it's highly likely Google are trolling us with a fake. Having been involved with product development life cycle a full retail boxed leak is very unlikely before FCC certification and months before release.

It better turn out to be darn good otherwise the trolling could backfire with a mediocre update.

Indeed, it could backfire seriously. However, there are some indications like the wrong spelling on one of the stickers/cards inside the box (google spelled their own email wrong ? ). There is also the fact that they recently asked from a few top youtubers that were bashing the leaked device to include part of their videos in their presentation.

I don't know, but what we were seeing all this time might as well be one of the prototypes that didn't actually make it to the final product.

It surprises me how many people opt for the Google product although they actually tell them in their face we track you and sell your data. Can you imagine this in the 90s: Hello, This is our Nokia 3330, it records your location, sms, call records, and conversation, sends it to us so we sell it to others. Buy NOW, $300 only!

Seriously, other than YouTube there are other options.
You do know that Apple also buys and sells your information to what it calls "carefully selected partners" as does your web browser, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and many third party apps that I'm sure you use.

This focus on Google selling data is missing the point, because so does Apple and most other tech companies. Unless you live under a rock and never use a search engine, a map app, any social media, ebay, paypal, Amazon, I could go on but I'm sure you get the point, your data is being harvested. That's how these companies make money, Apple included.

That said, I can't stand the notch, that's why I could never buy the iPhone X, so I'll be missing the Pixel 3XL if it has a notch.

For those who haven't spent any time with Android recently I would say in my opinion it's a much better than iOS when run in it's pure form on a Pixel 2 phone. I have constant software issues on all my Apple devices, from MacBooks to iPads and iPhones but my Pixel 2 XL with Android and the Pixelbook with Google Chrome have been faultless and buttery smooth since I got them last year.

As a long term Apple user I wish more Apple users would stand up to Apple and get them to sort things out as this is not the quality control I expect from the company I used to love and champion.

With Android, one can disable the notch. This makes a black bar across the top of the screen along the lower edge if the notch.
However this black bar is not lost screen. The info icons (battery, signal strength etc etc) all live here. These would usually be taking away from the top of the screen anyway. So this is genuine recovered screen around front camera/speaker. Unfortunately they don't use the black bar for this in landscape mode.

No I did not know they sell your data to carefully selected partners, as they mentioned they don't do that. Even if they do, they are still a safer option over Google since Apple business is to make money off services like iTunes/App Store and hardware like iphones and MacBooks and accessories. While Apple only money stream is their user data.

Yes, Apple quality control has dropped since SJ passed away. Malfunctioning Apple software is to be expected now days.
