2GB of data for two lines? Yikes! One breath and that data is gone for the majority of people.

Probably, but there's a good number of people that would fall into that category. I mean my wife and I have 20GB (plus rollover) on an older AT&T plan and most months we use about 4GB total, and there's plenty of people out there who never stream music or watch YouTube on the go. If you use your phone primarily as a... phone... when on the go its easy to not use much data, and then when you're at home you can go nuts on the Wifi. We keep that plan because every once in a while I travel some place with no wifi and having a good 30+ GB available is a lifesaver.

TLDR: Just saying, there's a lot of people who don't use much data.

Mobile phone plans seem to be the one thing that's not cheaper in the states than everywhere else.

So basically apples works up down left right to keep their devices as private as possible, and yet people happily jump to google at the first opportunity.

This world is ****ed.

Yep, Google is the sleasiest company in the world for obtaining and selling your data to the highest bidder. You might as well just have no password protection at all nor any security software. And yet people line up and bend over and ask for more ****ing up the ***!

I don't use more than 500 mb of cellular data each month so I am very happy with Simple Mobile's $20/month plan that gives me unlimited calling and text + 3 gb of LTE data on T-Mobile's network. Unlike Project Fi on iPhone, it also has visual voicemail, WiFi calling and VoLTE. I also get free roaming in 16 Latin America countries. And when I travel to Canada and Asia next year, I can use GigSky's esim on my iPhone XS.

Yeah. I wouldn’t call my plan the cheapest you can get, but I have unlimited calls domestically and to ten countries, plus 6GB LTE data for AUD$25. That’s about USD$18.20.
And I don’t expect google to be listening to everything I say. I only have to worry about what the government might hear.

What a coincidence; it just so happens I'm starting a cellular service of my own! AngerFi will guarantee full bars everywhere. Unlimited talk, text, and data, but you might notice a slight issue with the call volume, and we throttle like a mother ****er.

So r u happy with angerfi? I was told it’s terrible but cheap. Any option without cc? I could be interested. In particular if you can use it anonymously u know what i mean?

Meanwhile unlimited minutes, texts and data with free roaming in 71 countries for £20 ($25)/month in the UK

Don't forget to take off tax as they don't include that in the US. As such, your Three tariff would be $21 + TAX for unlimited 4G data, calls and texts in UK, 15GB in 71 countries at 3G speeds. Google Fi's USP is the fact you get 4G overseas and is probably only worth getting if you do a lot of travelling.

I've been on Fi with a Pixel 3 for awhile. I use around a gig a month and travel internationally. Fi saves me money versus an unlimited plan from T-Mobile that only offers slow 2G roaming.

Fi isn't intended for heavy data users.

But 30$ for phone flat + 1GB is extremly expensive. You can get that for under 10eur even in expensive Germany. My current plan is flat phone, flat messaging + unlimited data (downgrade to umts after 25GB) - I pay 35eur...

My sprint plan is still cheaper with better data limits. I have 2 iphones with unlimited data for $90 a month.

The lack of Network Switching is a non-starter for me. That was the most interesting feature of Project Fi to me since I am not yet traveling internationally. The price structure seems to benefit low data users the most but quickly becomes on par with or worst than other options out there the more data you use.

Mine is similar. I get 12GB plus AYCE texts and calls for £14.00 (This is SIM only of course).

I am happy with Xfinity Mobile as I use less than 2GB of data a month since I am on Wi-Fi all the time. I usually spend less than $25 a month. Includes Visual Voicemail, Wi-Fi Calling, VoLTE, and Verizon’s coverage.
Came here to say just this. Not sure why anyone would use Google Fi with an iPhone.

Come to the US and see what we pay.

Or see what you will pay to use your same number in the US. This is same number in a lot of countries.

To those of you reading this, the AngerFi is an absolute rip. I had to resend an MMS six times, then when it finally sent I got a text from an anonymous number which said "thanks for the nudes". …

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience.

We here at AngerFi appreciate your continued patience and choice to manscape.

If you have a Google anything, they already have your data. Even if you just use their search engine, they have your search data. It's pretty inescapable unless you're not using any of their services.

So therefore we should be willing to PAY google while giving them even more of our data to monitize. Because that makes sense? o_O

I understand that this is not for everyone, but to those saying that Google will harvest your phone calls and text messages - can you please provide your sources for these claims?

They are the largest global advertising company the world's ever seen and they derive 97% of their revenue from their ad business. Their entire history is filled with examples of trying to tie your data together from various sources in order to make that bundle more attractive to their real customers. The latest scandal was Google tracking location of Android owners even when they explicitly disabled that feature. It's not like it takes a leap of faith at this point to assume when Google is offering something, they have their real customers in mind, not you.

No visual voicemail? Lame.

This, and most of the other ranting, seems to be based a lot more on "Google sux" than on "what's actually being offered here".

On the plus side, you get the international data roaming which, for some people, is REALLY nice --- land in a new country and things just work. If you travel infrequently, and have a 2018 gen iPhone [eSIM], you can get the same thing from TruPhone or GigSky (just buy a plan before the trip), but for frequent traveling Google may be more convenient.

On the ~~~ side, it may not be the cheapest option. It beats Ting, which was my previous go-to best overall MVNO, but xfinity and Spectrum Mobile look like they're cheaper if you don't use that much data per month.
Likewise, voice messages: Sure, there are those of you who use them a ton and then, yes, this is not a good plan for you. The rest of us, well, WTF cares? I certainly could live with voice messages that appear in Messages, not in Phone.

Unclear is whether the interception tech that Google is using will allow them (one way or another; there are also legal issues that complicate this) to provide much better spam call filtering. Yes yes, we all know, plenty of you don't want anyone, even robots, listening in to your calls. The rest of us, however, are quite happy to let the robots listen if it gives us REAL, FUNCTIONAL spam blocking.

On the minus side, the fact that nothing is mentioned about eSIM means that Google still hasn't got this sorted out yet, just like every other MVNO. Specifically I'm assuming it means no reasonable cost (ie ~$1 or less per month base, plus added into the overall data usage) support for things like aWatches and iPads...

So it's basically $80/month for 6gb of data. Not a great deal.

Edit: Nevermind, I mis-read the article. Data becomes free from 6gb-15gb, but slows down after that. Still not that great of a deal. Verizon is $80/month for 1 line of unlimited and doesn't throttle you until 22gb.

Yeah, and Verizon would be full featured and not require configuring anything on the phone outside popping in a SIM (or calling the carrier for an eSIM).

Why is your address not verifiable? Are you in witness protection?:)
Haha! Not hardly. Its a dirt road in a natl park with no name. We have p.o box 10 miles in town. Fi needs a verifiable address.
I bet most smokers/growers know me as Jerry Garcia once said my strain was the best he ever smoked live on stage after purchasing directly from me... witness protection hahaha,,, good one

There we go, knew it wouldn't be long. Can you substantiate any of that tripe? Also does Apple not slurp your data?
Of course he can, it’s from the most reliable, most often referenced source on the internet..... “They”

I can only IMAGINE the stuff Google harvests from you. They don't go into any business without slurping some of your data. That's their entire business model.

When will people stop spreading this fake info. If you're paying for the product then that's what they're getting ... THE PAYMENT. If it's "free", THEN it's your data you're paying with. Or are people idiotic enough to think companies hand out free services just for fun?
